Have had several pleasant stays at St Mary's Gate in the past but it seems there is new management that is totally incompetent. Unknown to me my reservation for 16th December (made in June) had been cancelled for unknown reasons leaving me with no place to stay on my arrival from Canada. The bar staff claimed I was informed of the cancellation by email but no such email was ever received and no explanation was offered. 

No room at the Inn.

We needed a quick meal before a concert in Arundel Cathedral, so chose St Mary's Gate Inn.  Really good, in a warm and friendly atmosphere.  We both chose from the selection of small plates, and they were truly delicious.  Highly recommended

Delicious supper in a lovely friendly pub

Stayed at The St Marys Gate Inn for a couple nights with a couple friends, one thing i have to say is WOW! From the staff to the food, it was amazing, food came out really quickly and was piping hot, i had the beer battered cod burger. You could tell it was all house made, it was delicious! Thank you to Amber and Maizie who made our experience in Arundel 10/10
I would definitely stay and eat there again!

Lovely 2 day stay 
A very warm and welcoming entrance got shown to are room, nice double bed and bathroom with a nice HOT shower. The landlady was amazing as we could not get a taxi to the wedding  she offered to take us . And we can’t thank them enough for the amazing service and friendly out come. 

Defo stay at the st Mary’s pub inn lovely staff great food great rooms . 

Lovely place

Excellent welcome, good room. Everything we needed for the night. Excellent service for meals too. Friendliest staff. Well worth staying here. The only negative was the shower, but we were told all the rooms are being upgraded. Think Amber was who looked after us mostly. She was excellent. Had dinner and breakfast here, lovely food, Baked Cod in lemon butter,  new potatoes and salad. I asked for more salad instead of potatoes and was offered prawns which was a lovely alternative. Many thanks. 

Lovely stay

My wife and I popped in for coffee an hour before a concert. Our original plan was tk have a pizza afterwards, but the pub had such a welcoming atmosphere that we changed our plans and had a delicious homemade sandwich in the St Mary’s  Gate Inn, a decision  we did not regret. Lively staff, homely decor and a log fire too. 10 out of 10

Change of plan

So apparently this pub is due to change hands. Whoever owns it now should be ashamed of themselves.  Took full price and couldn’t provide what was advertised. The management had called in staff that hadn’t worked there for months to try to cover   Today the breakfast was a shambles. One young lady trying to deal with 11 guests, until someone else was called in to cook.  Wish new owners all the luck in the world as the current ones are ruining your future. Feel as though we’ve been robbed.

Weekend Break

Plus points for 4 poster room - spacious, clean, friendly staff, great quality breakfast .
Down side - whole place very cold, no heating on - had to ask for it to be switched on in the morning but too late by then! No water pressure in bathroom, stacked up empty cardboard boxes outside room in hallway - hazard if there was a fire! Such a shame we were so cold as overall a nice place to stay in a great location.


Chilly!

My wife and I stayed at the Inn for one night. The room was extremely clean, spacious and comfortable. The Bar/Restaurant - the staff were very friendly, helpful and certainly made you feel welcome. The food and it's presentation were to a very high standard, the food being delicious. We would be quite willing to drive the 40 miles there just to have a nice meal out one evening. Compliments to all the staff, sorry I have forgotten their names. We would highly recommend a stay here and a meal and we certainly look forward to our next stay. Thank you

Overnight Stay

Stayed at St Mary's Gate Inn for the Jousting at Arundel Castle.  Beautiful pub, very friendly and helpful staff. Food was amazing and room was fantastic with 4 poster bed. Amazing location and was able to eat Dinner with a view of the cathedral..
