We stayed at lavender house on 9th September for a family wedding and I can't fault it one bit. We stayed in room 12 it was clean and the bed was so comfortable. The staff at lavender house deserve 10 stars just on there own nothing was to much trouble they were polite, helpful and friendly. The food was stunning the DJ was brilliant. I would recommend lavender house and it's staff to anyone book your weddings here people 

Our amazing stay at lavender house 

We’ve just had our wedding here 02.09.2023 and have to say the whole day was just magical, from start to finish. Carol, Keith, Andrew and the whole team here were so accommodating and welcoming. We had so many compliments about the venue and the hosts. The food was to die for and the decorations of the room and venue were just beautiful. Keith couldn’t do enough for us and always making sure myself and our guests were ok. The bridal suite was stunning and we had the most perfect weather for the most perfect day. I am truly sad it’s all over but will cherish this day forever. I would highly recommend any future weddings coming up, get yourself booked in you will not be disappointed.

Perfect wedding venue absolutely stunning

I had the privilege of photographing a friend's wedding 15-04-23 at Lavender House Hotel. Keith, his wife and staff were absolutely amazing and helped no end with ideas for the wedding shots and we also talked through ideas and how photos should  be done. I will be forever grateful for all the help and advice. The Rolls Royce was beautiful and helped no end with some of the photos of the bride and groom. The food they provided for the high tea in the afternoon and BBQ in even was outstanding

Valentine’s Day meal at Lavender House was exception. Looked after with a warm welcome and settled into Lavender Suite. This room has a lovely four poster bed, lounge area and bathroom with a big shower, bath and mood lighting. 

We began in the bar which had a roaring real fire, and settled down with a bottle of house wine. 

To the meal, candle lit, and with a wonderful classical guitarist who was faultless the whole evening. 

We had a sharing platter with anti-pasti, a selection of meats, cheese, olives and breads. For the mains I had the filet of beef, which was done to perfection, my partner had the chicken, served with veg and fondant potatoes. We had cheese and biscuits which came as an impressive selection, with plenty of crackers and seedless grapes. Ended with coffee and home made truffles. We were even given a rose as a romantic gesture. 

If I had one criticism it would be the portion size, it was so incredibly generous. Ever get to that point when it’s so delicious that you want to eat more, but your tummy is telling you that you are full? 

Oh I forgot they also threw in a generous sized glass of Prosecco. The staff were attentive, friendly and we left to go to the room feeling thoroughly spoilt. 

The room was quiet, the four poster comfortable and we slept soundly. 

The breakfast was freshly cooked and one again the portions really generous. We had English Muffins with scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. It was perfect !

Beautiful and Excellent Valentines Evening Meal and Stay

What a fantastic wedding venue run by Carol and Keith who are just the most seasoned pros you could wish to arrange such an important day. 

- a special mention to Keith whose attentiveness and  humour made it so special for our guests. They had so much fun with your dry humor and banter. 

- the wedding breakfast and evening food was excellent quality, beautifully presented and very tasty and plentiful 

- the setting of the hotel is very special and the gardens are immaculate... Absolutely perfect for pictures

- the hotel staff were so friendly and could not do enough for us. 

- The rooms were all spotlessly clean and the bridal suite was everything we hoped it would be and more 

In summary, if you are looking for a wedding venue to take all the wedding planning stress away from you, while giving you the absolute freedom and encouragement to have the day how you want it.... .. Look no further.

Stunning Wedding Venue

In Need of Alex Polizzi (Hotel Inspector)  to un-confuse the place. Random ornaments in rooms were strange. The bathroom light was flickering, in room refreshments present but no kettle left us disappointed but too late to go back downstairs. Keith believes he’s funny but everyone commented how rude he was all day and night. 
That said the dance floor was excellent but the DJ didn’t read the audience and cleared the dance floor on more than one occasion! 
Breakfast was excellent too although my cup was cracked. 
My recommendation would be to get Alex Polizzi there asap! 
Some good bits but in the main I wouldn’t return in a hurry! The wedding meal came across as microwaved and the sauces were overpowering on the mains… inedible across the whole table. Table wine was shocking too… Keith’s presence was unwanted but the waiting staff were professional and friendly.

Plenty of potential but needs help and guidance

The grounds are beautiful the decor was amazing on arrival we asked if we would be able to have early breakfast at 6 45 as I had to be back in exeter on my unit by 7.45 am went down 6.45 nothing for us not even a piece of toast or cup of tea .the chef was behind the bar handed him our room key and left , other hotels accommodate there guest needs safely can say we will not stay here again .

Dissapointed

We had our wedding here in May! And wow what a venue, we booked our wedding venue two years before our actual wedding date and Keith and Carol could not have done enough for us, always in contact through email and allowed us to visit as many times as needed to go through things and check things over. 
The actual wedding weekend was amazing we stayed for two nights, not one bad word was mentioned to me throughout the weekend at all. The rooms we’re warm and clean and the garden was impeccable. 
The day wouldn’t have ran as smoothly without you Kieth!

Wow what a venue!

A totally relaxing atmosphere, great location, really good food available from on-site restaurant and competitive pricing.  Good, friendly hosts, and we met lots of returning guests.

Yes parts of the hotel are tired and need maintenance, but this did not bother us; it was evident that a lot of upgrading is being carried out.  Our only issue was that our 'Superior' Room had next doors bathroom built in to our room (as is often the case) and we would have preferred better 'sound proofing'! Would definitely return.

Enjoyable Stay

After originally being put in the cottage we had to be moved because the cottage was freezing and clearly hadn't been cleaned as there were cobwebs and bugs everywhere! 
The room we were moved to seemed nice and roomy until entering the bathroom where again it had clearly not been cleaned properly, the floors were dirty and left our bare feet black and the shower looked grubby also.
Although the wedding itself was lovely the staff were rude and very abrupt when approached and not very helpful at all.
