What a true delight in every respect, efficient, friendly staff & a very comfortable bedroom.  Madge our Daschund was made extremely welcome & well catered for.
Dinner was superb, breakfast similar and a sausage for Madge!
The Riverside is not a five star hotel,  it is better.  It is warm, friendly and does not to try to do what it is not. The interior decoration is well considered and very tasteful.   A lot of thought has gone into the smallest things.  
The only slight negative, which I feel I must mention, the dog friendly rooms are not far from the main road which is a little noisy.  However, this will not stop us from returning in the near future.
I have no hesitation in recommending the Riverside with or without a dog!!!

A delightful stay enhanced by the warm, friendly & experienced staff

Booked the Rafters room and dinner for my husbands surprise birthday treat.  The hotel was everything I could have hoped for to make his day special, staff super friendly and setting very picturesque.  The atmosphere was very chilled but service efficient and professional.  Dinner was delicious, almost beyond words, one of our best meals from a restaurant, the Hot Pocket is one not to miss.  We both said we would absolutely recommend to everyone.  I’d like to thank all staff and management for a great memorable trip.

Don’t hesitate treat yourself to this gem of a hotel!

We had a pleasant stay here, room was pleasant and clean and the food at the Rafters was delicious…we had both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and they were both great meals. There is no elevator so you do have to be prepared to carry suitcases if on the second floor, but that is to be expected in these old converted manors.

Great Stay in the Peak District

We stayed for 1 night and had the tasting menu. From the minute we checked in, we were made to feel welcome. Every single member of staff we encountered was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The tasting menu was fabulous, and every course was explained expertly. 
The hotel rooms are lovely, clean and comfortable with lovely little touches like bottled water, Temple Spa toiletries and complementary choux buns delivered on check in.
We are already planning our next stay and will be taking advantage of the autumn offer! 

Fabulous stay! 

Beautiful location, ideal for walks out into the peak district.  Had afternoon tea and breakfast here, all the food was very good.  
Had to knock one star off as the curtains in the room were not really effective at all at blocking out any light.  On top of that the fire escape outside was illuminate which added to the problem.  Not ideal for a lazy weekend.

Nearly superb

I decided to treat my other half to dinner, bed and breakfast for one night at the Riverside House Hotel after reading all of the fabulous reviews. We were not disappointed! Staff were so friendly and genuinely happy to provide wonderful service throughout. The food and drinks were exceptional, I am coeliac and was catered to amazingly, even receiving a welcome freshly baked gluten free brownie on arrival. We would highly recommend the Riverside House Hotel and hope to go back when it’s warm enough to sit outside in the lovey garden. Also perfectly placed for a walk in Bakewell the next day after a delicious three course breakfast!

Exceptional treat

Excellent hotel with a wonderful restaurant.
The staff are professional, knowledgeable and friendly. The food is excellent with a good and well balanced wine list.Breakfast is a must. The bed rooms are large, comfortable and very clean. Free parking and electric charging points. Nice garden with outdoor seating. River views.

Lovely in every way.

We treated ourselves to a last minute festive “Rafternoon” tea today, and I’m so glad we chose to try it here! Both the savoury and sweet courses (and unlimited tea/coffee) were delicious, and presented beautifully, and it’s clear that the team at Rafters care about the fine details-our afternoon tea menu even had our surname and the date printed on it, which was a really nice touch! The atmosphere was relaxed, whilst still felt special, and the staff were incredibly friendly and couldn’t have been more attentive. Having been to a fair few afternoon teas before, this one definitely stood out! Although it’s a higher end afternoon tea, it was really good value for money given the standard of the food/service, and we’ll definitely be back! 

Wonderful afternoon tea 

We had a family weekend to celebrate our mothers 89th birthday, what a treat. All the way through the booking, discussing our needs and service whilst there was impeccable. All the staff where extremely polite and helpful, the rooms adequate to our needs and cosy and meals in the restaurant, Rafters, first class. One guest was Coeliac and the gluten free options and service to cater for this was discrete and without fault. The hotel is in a beautiful village location right next to the river Wye and with walks from the doorstep, the walk along the river to Bakewell is a leisurely 45 minutes.
Whilst it is difficult to pick any one member of staff out for praise is extremely difficult, what I would say is that from a hotel communication perspective, Sarah was top of her game !
Highly recommend.

Cosy and warm hotel

Very friendly comfortable hotel.
We had the taster menu for dinner which was excellent, particularly with the wine pairing.
Room very clean and tidy, very comfortable bed and pillows. Novel (and welcome) to have a built in toothbrush charger in the bathroom. Unfortunately the drench shower was more of a dribble shower but didn’t detract from the overall experience.
