Hillcrest House is a lovely, cosy B&B in the heart of Bamburgh. The room was immaculately clean and very spacious with everything a traveller needs. The bathroom was massive and came with a number of complimentary toiletries. Lovely view of the fields and the sea. Very quiet and the bed was lovely and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and the owners couldn't do enough. Very friendly and helpful.

I travelled alone for a solo getaway to the home of The Last Kingdom and I am so happy I chose Hillcrest. I highly recommend.

A beautiful B&B in the heart of a Beautiful Village

Very nice place  ,easy going and Malcolm could not do enough for us. We will definitely stay again . The breakfast is very good and the views from the windows are lovely  nice pubs I short walk down the road

The hosts were wonderful - nothing is too much trouble. Perfectly positioned with plenty of parking available. 
Yes, the rooms are dated but very comfortable and spacious. Everything we needed was to hand and we’d definitely recommend.

We chose Hillcrest because of its excellent rating and it certainly lived up to its rating.
Clean and tidy and comfortable room (room 2) and breakfasts were super all 3 days.
Malcolm is a lovely host and is contactable for any issues that may occur.
Would certainly recommend and will be going back.

Excellent and 5 mins to Castle entrance.

Stayed on Sunday 04th September 2022  It was a slightly strange place as there were 3 rooms and the house was unoccupied by the owner's bar when the cook who was there in the morning to cook any guests breakfast. There is not a lot of accommodation in the village and it provides excellent access to the main attraction, i.e. the castle itself. The room was fine if a little dated, and the free wi-fi and tea & biscuits were appreciated.

Decent accommodation to stop off and visit the area

It was easy to find with Google Maps and our parking was on the street in front of the B&B. Check in was great as we had perfect instructions and there was no one there. We used the placards to order our breakfast and then set up in our room, #1. The room was warm and cozy and had everything we needed to have a lovely night. It was quiet all night long.  The bathroom was enormous with both a soaker tub and a separate shower.  We went out for a walk down to get some night shots of the castle. On the way back up the hill we passes two nice looking pubs but we were still full from lunch.
The bed was comfortable and, this is huge, there were no fragrances to activate my wife’s allergies.  Thank you!
Breakfast was delicious and abundant. The staff (the gent’s name started with an M) was engaging and attentive.
Check out involved nothing but walking out.
We loved it and will return!


What a lovely place!

We stayed here whilst walking the Northumberland Coast Path (myself, my wife and adult son). We had the family suite on the second floor comprising: an extremely spacious double room with views to the sea from windows both ends, a small single room and a private bathroom. It was all very clean and comfortable. We checked ourselves in on arrival but we found the hosts to be extremely welcoming at breakfast the next morning - when a very good breakfast was provided. A good location in a lovely village. 

Very comfortable accommodation

We had a most comfortable stay here. The accommodation was quiet, warm, spacious and well kept. Malcolm and Mark are most hospitable hosts and their breakfasts were excellent. They could not have been more attentive. The house is well placed for visiting the Castle and the coast. There are several good places to eat at night nearby as well.

The personal touch

Cannot fault this B&B. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Owner Malcom and his son Mark are so friendly and welcoming and cannot do enough for you. We loved the friendly chats every morning and Mark was always able to answer any questions we had about the area. 
Our room was large with a very large en-suite shower room and a very comfortable king size bed. It was at the front but even with the windows open at night there was never much traffic noise as it’s a quiet road. The full English breakfasts were fantastic, Malcolm is a very good chef. You just ticked your order from a selection on your own board in the hall in the evening with what you wanted from a very good choice. Cereals and fruit were on the sideboard in the dining room so you could help yourself. In fact if you ran out of coffee, tea, fruit etc in your room during your stay you just went down to the dining room and helped yourself. We really enjoyed our 3 nights there and would recommend Hillcrest to anyone.
