As a family of 4 we stayed at Chase the Wild Goose. Highly impressed with facilities available and kitchen facilities. Everything had been though of, right down to providing hot water bottles for those unfamiliar with the Scottish weather! 
Bedroom comfortable and bedsheets were crisp and clean. Room was a good temperature and electric key pads on the rooms avoided the need for keys.
Good variety of breakfast items available if you choose to pay for the self serve breakfast. Would return here again.

Handled our large group really well. Friendly helpful staff and made us very welcome.
Nice rooms, comfy beds, hot showers and nice living room. Great value rooms. This is our second stay here with our charity/group and it works so well for us.

Great stay great value great staff

Been visiting Fort William for over 20 years I was absolutely disgusted to find out that this establishments took  my booking took my money confirmed the booking and wouldn’t let me stay with my 5 year old grandson. I booked one bed in a mixed dorm only to be told I was being dishonest. And not telling them I had a child even tho I informed them 3 times. They put us out on the street screamed at me to leave the property. Sent abusive txts no child should be forced to sleep in a single bed with other adults. Lucky escape absolute joke

Stayed in this hostel while climbing Ben Nevis, had I read the trip advisor I would not have stayed (specifically take note of the owners responses to poor reviews - he cannot take any form of criticism).

When I arrived staff were friendly but I was surprised by how small, old worn and dated the rooms were but the staff at check in were friendly.

The linen that was on the bed was definitely not cleaned and had a poor odour coming from it. Before I forget to mention, I had to put this unclean bedding on myself!

When bringing this to the owners attention his response was that I get what I pay for and this is a hostel not a five star hotel.

Absolutely disgusting business practices they only get away with due to lack of competition 



Rude Owner, unclean bed, small spaces, make your own bed

I've been to the Wild Goose previously with the Peak Climbing Club and I was happy to choose it again for a mountaineering weekend with a friend. It's in a good location to access Ben Nevis or head up the main roads north, south or west if necessary. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The kitchen is clean, well-equipped and spacious, the dining room has plenty of table space and the lounge is well equipped with sofas. The beds are comfortable and the room was a reasonable size. The toilets & shower worked fine. Wi-fi was free & worked fine. The only minor niggle I have is the laundry/drying room does not have heating on all night so if you have very wet kit & need it the next day it's best to get it in there early.

A Homely Hostel

I had a very pleasant stay at the Chase The Wild Goose Hostel. The house is located a short walk from Fort William, in a quiet neighborhood. Rooms are spacious and clean. There is a large kitchen and dining room, and cozy living room with sofas. The receptionist was very welcoming and  managed to move my reservation because I made a booking mistake! He was also well informed about local travel updates and shared important tips!

The rooms are very clean, there are enough showers and toilets. And the kitchen is well equipped. And the people at reception are very kind.
A short distance away is a supermarket, and a bar to sit with friends from the hostel.

Warm and kind as at home

I used a couple of hostels while travelling around Scotland and found Chase The Wild Goose to be so homely and have a great atmosphere.
Perfect if you need to spend a night or two while in the Fort William area.

Homely atmosphere

The hostel is very minimalist, but very clean and modern. The bathrooms look newly renovated and the kitchen is modern with all necessary appliances, including a hob and an oven. Some basic spices (salt, pepper etc) are available there for your cooking and the kitchen is fully equipped with pots and pans. The receptionist was very friendly. 

The breakfast was a bit disappointing - it doesn't start until 8am while about half of the guests were getting up at 6am to leave before 7 (including us). They keep it as a "self-serve" breakfast before 8 but the selection was a bit poor, basically just cereal and toast with jam. Considering you have to make everything yourself anyway I'd recommend not purchasing the breakfast and preparing your own food in the morning.

If you're planning to climb Ben Nevis the start of the climb is about 1 hour from the hostel so keep that in mind when planning your trip.

Overall I was very happy with the stay and would definitely recommend the hostel.

Clean and modern hostel for a good price

Great location.  First time I've ever stayed in a hostel. Friendly staff.  Hostel was kept clean which was a bonus for me.  Easy.access to public transportation. The rooms were well secured which was comforting.  Met some very nice interesting people from all over the world. Overall review very pleased that found Chase The Wild Goose Hostel.
