Thank you Christine and James for a great stay
A very welcoming couple. Breakfast was delicious with a starter of fresh fruit salad with yogurt, and then  a cooked breakfast. Great location, just minutes walking from the town centre.

The room was lovli , the house was too and we were made too feal very welcome. The breakfast was really good and apart from the usual cereals there was a lovli fresh
Fruit salad and greek yoghurt 😋😋the little touches like home made melting moments in our room swung it for us 100% recommend this B&B 👍👍X

Lovely super friendly hosts

Lovely, cosy quintessentially English B&B. The proprietors are very welcoming & freindly. The beds were comfy, shower was powerful and the rooms spotlessly clean with all the facilities you need plus some extra personal touches.
Breakfast was a real treat with fresh fruit and greek yoghurt followed by full english, piping hot and cooked to perfection all with fresh juice & ground coffee.
Would definitely recommend Baliol House. Thank you Christine & James we really enjoyed our stay.

Perfect!

I rarely leave reviews as you pay your money and make your choice. Christine and James made our two night stay so good I had to let other people know. They have been in the business many years and certainly made us feel very welcome. Lots of good advice and lovely breakfast. Interesting conversations and coffee & cakes at their dining table. Barnard Castle is a bustling market town with friendly pubs and lovely walks in the surrounding countryside where you may not see anyone for hours. These two great people made our break special in these difficult times and promised we will return.

Break in Barny

Many thanks to Christine and James for making us so welcome. A comfortable and clean room awaited us and we were pointed in the direction of plenty of places to eat. Breakfast was lovely and kept us going until well after lunch! The best poached eggs I’ve had in a long while! We’d be happy to return and to recommend it to anyone else.

Very friendly welcome!

Excellent hosts in James and Christine. Very attentive and helpful with storing our biking gear safely. Comfortable rooms, great night's sleep and cracking breakfast. Right in the middle of Barnie too. Recommended. 

Stop off on the Coast to Coast 

Well located property with easy access into town centre (2 minutes on foot). Free on-street parking nearby. Warm welcome, excellent breakfast, comfortable room. Stairs not for the faint-hearted! Would stay again.

Excellent hospitality!

Extremely welcoming couple - greeted us with a gallon of hot tea to refresh us after cycling. Lovely rooms - very clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast and advice. Very eay to chat with host and hostess.

Really lovely B&B

So booked here for one night and got to say Christine and James are perfect hosts, We were offered a cup of tea on arrival the room was very clean with all that you need.... tea and coffee facilities home made biscuits and even small bowl of grapes !!  small TV books to read lovely shower However I think it is the little touches that makes this place so special, The location is fab and the breakfast was lovely loads of really fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, and the full English was lovely you could tell the products were quality, Hoping to return soon as one night was not long enough

Lovely Couple spotless B&B

A warm and friendly welcome, a cup of tea and home made treats awaited my arrival - just what was needed after a long drive.  Christine and James are great hosts, spending time to chat with you and impart their local knowledge.  My room was well appointed and spotlessly clean.  The bed was comfy.  Breakfast was relaxed and extremely tasty, no rush at all.  No problem in recommending Baliol House as an excellent place to stay.  The only slight negative is that the road can be noisy in the morning.
