What a great hotel, staff were amazing, food was superb and price was excellent.  Would absolutely recommend and we'll definitely be back.  Hotel is very dog friendly so we will be back with our two in the near future, great touches like dog breakfasts.

Excellent Stay

Just back from a relaxing 2 night stay at the Dunes hotel.
The hotel is situated in a very peaceful location with a short drive into Barrow or Dalton 
The hotel was very quiet, which was nice but I imagine the weekends are very busy 
The staff were all so friendly and accommodating. The Restaurant, bar and conservatory (breakfast room)  were very tastefully decorated.
We ate in the Restaurant on the first night, the food was amazing and very reasonably priced.  We had a cooked breakfast both mornings, again the food was lovely. 
We decided to drive to Lake Windermere on our second day, unfortunately the weather was pretty bad so didn't stay too long, but it was only 26 miles away, definitely worth visiting when the weather is nice 
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it !

Well worth a visit

Just returned from a one-night stay for New Years Eve and we stayed with our dog on the ground floor, Room 6.
Firstly, the young man on Reception was extremely welcoming, attentive and always made a lovely fuss of our dog.
Our room was large, warm and well furnished with a really lovely wet room style bathroom.
We had pre-ordered our food for the NYE Gala Dinner and the food did not disappoint. It was just such a shame that more people had not booked to enjoy the event. 
The Singer/Entertainer Becky was incredible! I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending booking her for any celebration/special event. She worked hard to create an atmosphere in a very quiet function.
Breakfast the next morning was really lovely too, lots of choice including hot food/full English , cereal, fruit, yoghurts, continental items.

NYE stay

We booked this hotel through a Groupon deal so was unsure what to expect. It didn’t disappoint, we upgraded our room at an extra cost but was worth it to us. The room was spacious, clean and lovely and warm. 
Food was tasty, service was great. All in all a very enjoyable stay. 
Just a word to wise the hotel is quite isolated which for us was fantastic but you will need transport to get around

Cheeky weekend break

We stayed at the Dunes Hotel after buying a two-night stay deal through Wowcher. I booked the hotel over the phone which was super easy and the receptionist booking us was helpful. 

The deal we got with wowcher was amazing value as it included; breakfast, bottle of wine in our room, £50 dinner voucher and a late checkout of 1pm. As we were staying for our anniversary we decided to treat ourselves and upgrade from a classic double to the suite room (big thank you to DM Gary for the upgrade deal - and you were fantastic throughout our stay!)

On arrival I’m so glad we upgraded as the suite room is amazing and worth every penny - especially the free standing bath, absolute heaven! The room was clean, tidy and equipped with a mini fridge, toiletries and plenty of towels (I hate it when you only get one towel as a one for all in other hotels). There was also a Happy Anniversary card from the staff which was a lovely touch we loved. 

There was a few minor wear and tear marks in the room such as scuffs/marks on skirting, walls, doors etc but nothing major or unpleasant. The only other niggle was the king-size bed was two beds pushed together which resulted in a noticeable line down the middle through the night. 

We ate in the restaurant on the second evening, we both had 3 courses. The food was presented well and tasted nice. My only criticisms are the cheesy garlic bread wasn’t that garlicky (although that could just be my personal preference) and I was told that I couldn’t have a cocktail as there wasn’t a member of staff on shift who could make them. This was a little disappointing as we’d just climbed Scafell Pike earlier in the day and I was looking forward to a well earned cocktail or 5! Other than that our meal was lovely and our waitress was a very pleasant attentive young lady. The cooked breakfast both mornings was also very nice, tasted like good quality bacon/sausage.

Overall we had a very pleasant stay, all the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is slightly out of the way being located in the South Lakes but it was only a 50 minute drive to Windermere and most other attractions. We would definitely book and stay again 😊 thank you Dunes Hotel!

Happy Anniversary to us!

Me and my partner stayed here for 1 night. We ate in the restaurant and had breakfast. Food was lovely. Staff very helpful and friendly. Would recommend and would stay again. The only thing the bar shuts at 9pm this wasn't a problem for us as we don't drink but was earlier than expected. Reception staff helpful. Room very clean, hotel lovely snd everywhere clean

Lovely stay

Didn’t know anything about this place beforehand, just bought a Groupon voucher for a couple of days away. Staff were brilliant, food was great and beer was cold! Used as a base to explore the area a bit, highly recommended and would return!!

Couples Couple of Days!

Booked a dinner bed and breakfast deal at the Dunes. It was fantastic. Great staff and service, lovely room and great bathroom. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast. It was so good, we’ve already booked to return!

Wonderful stay at this exceptional hotel

We booked a night at the hotel as a short break, when we arrived we loved how secluded the hotel was, ideal for peace and quiet.

Checked in and we were greeted by Charlotte who was very helpful, went to the room.  

We had booked one of the executive rooms, which was lovely and clean, nice new carpet by the looks of it too. Very nice bathroom which was spotless, lovely bedding on the bed and the room was quite large too. All in all great value for money.

After unpacking a few items we headed to the bar, nice size bar, plenty of tables and places to sit. Ordered a cocktail and a beer, barman was vey entertaining and extremely helpful as we had asked for something not on the menu, but he did get it resolved for us.

Unfortunately for him we ordered an espresso martini but he disliked coffee! However he battled on and  made us a great drink, thanks for that.

Unfortunately for us we had to cut short our night here due to a family issue which meant we had to leave earlier than anticipated.

Thanks again to Charlotte for all her help and understanding our predicament.

The Dunes is a lovely place and ignore the negative reviews here, its situated in a  great location, staff are amazing and always willing to help if you have an issue or if you need anything. The rooms are lovely and clean and cleaner than others in a higher price bracket.

We shall return for a longer stay next time.

Excellent service, lovely hotel

There had been a small issue with the room we had booked but staff dealt with it quickly, efficiently and offered us a similar room with our request catered for. 

Really like the introduction of a "wetroom" style bathroom.

The evening menu had been changed from our previous visit in September, with the deserts being extremely tasty, but no good on my figure LOL. 

The introduction of a breakfast hot / cold buffet for the weekend visitors I think helps both the guests and staff manage things much better.  
Weekday breakfast is done to order and provides.

All in all the team providing guests a really pleasant, helpful experience for their stay.

We will be returning soon.
