Popped in for a meal at lunchtime. Lovely to see a varied menu back , lots of choice, not just run of the mill bar food. Chicken supreme was superb, steak pie was delicious and staff were great . We will be back as there were plenty of other meals on the menu we'd like to try . Thanks to Rachel and staff.

Great food

This was our second stay at Clarkes – the first since new management… and it a lot better than the first stay which was pretty poor. The hotel itself hasn’t changed much in short time new management in place but the service is 100% better.

Dave was very friendly, helpful and engaging throughout stay. He explained on arrival there was a problem with the heating so an electric heater was the substitute – which was fine. He explained there were plans afoot to sort our pre-existing plumbing issues… it was great to get a full explanation regarding situation, mitigation and plans to fix in long term (as will return as close to friends on Roa Island)

Room itself was a great size with views over Morecombe Bay and could also see Piel Island… and on a clear day Blackpool Tower visible. It was all very clean with tea/coffee and lovely complimentary shortbread biscuits. Comfy bed, water hot, shower great. Décor… yeah a little dated, but clean and all the furniture matched and was in good order.

Given we stayed New Years Eve Dave had given chef the morning of New Years Day off so he and his partner were running breakfast service. Full English and toast cooked to order with fresh tea/coffee brought to table. The Full English was really good – all well cooked and hot. 

All in all a lovely stay and good value for money. Thanks Dave… will see you again soon!


Great Location, Clean & Friendly, Delicious Breakfast

Had a lovely family meal, all cooked to perfection and plenty of it too!! Great service, staff were very friendly and accommodating. Would 100% return and recommend to anyone, can’t wait to come back! 

Family meal 2023

The accommodation is absolutely shocking! Filthy carpet in the entrance to the accommodation.  Mould on the wallpaper, brown water coming out of the taps, a TV in the room that had little service/reception, a flee on the bed that they had the nerve to say was from our dog!! Absolutely disgusting.  Being from the area originally I was very disappointed, not good enough and not fit for contractors. We had hoped that being under new ownership that the standards had improved, sadly not! Yes it might be a 300 year old property and a lovely building, sadly it’s lacking a lot of TLC. Thankfully we got a full refund and left to stay with family!  Not quite the lovely relaxing stay we had hoped for at The Clarkes.   Plenty more hotels in the area.  Owner didn’t even have the decency to apologise to my face! Brilliant customer service Julie, not! 

Absolutely Shocking Accommodation! 

Visited on a very snowy evening for a club Christmas party sadly only 13 of our party of 24 made it through the snow.
The staff were very friendly and glad we had made the effort to make it.
We picked from the Christmas menu £25 for three courses and it was superbly cooked and all agreed it was excellent value for money.
I had the  Scallops starter followed by a Turkey dinner and sticky toffee to finish all absolutely spot on.
This has a very traditional pub vibe and a wide choice of beers and wines are available.
If I had to pick a negative it would be £3.50 for a pint of post mix pop is a bit naughty but that was my only gripe.
Well done to all concerned you have a great team and product and we all agreed we will definitely be back 👍

GREAT TRADITIONAL PUB AND GREAT VALUE TOO

We had Sunday lunch well that’s what they told us,4 of us had a meal 3had roast beef one had that much gravy it was slopping over the side of the plate,all the beef was to tough to cut with a ordinary knife so a stake knife was brought out,we were asked if we wanted to change our meals but. there Was only two meats and the second was ham?we don’t eat ham,we ate hear last year it was superb not this year, come on Clarkes you can do better.Macca.

Ate on first night - lovely meal.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Adjacent parking.
Room spotless with fantastic view on 
Morecambe Bay.
Finally we managed to leave some items in room which Dave kindly dropped off for us.

Couples Visit

We stayed here for two nights in room 2 with amazing sea views. The room is spacious and spotless. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and the whole place is a gem. We had a such a friendly welcome from everyone. Highly recommended. Great location and a very relaxing place to be.

A gem of a place. Loved it.

Absolutely loved this place . The room was so comfortable. The full English breakfast was lovely, nice choice of fruit juices and cereals, a toaster to toast your own white or whole meal fresh bread. Our evening meal was really well cooked and served hot. The staff were all friendly and professional. The hotel is also pet friendly, our Jack Russel says thank you. 

Fantastic stay. 

We had lunch at the Clarkes Hotel and it was delicious.  We chose the Platter of 3 nibbles.  It was a very efficient service and tasty meal. It was a lovely day so we could choose to sit outside or inside.
