Second time we have had a big family gathering here, this time with 18 of us plus a dog. It’s an easy to find venue with great parking and even access to local walks if you want to stretch your legs before sitting down. Very well looked after by the front of house staff who set us up with a big table and plenty of space, we’re on hand to meet all our requests for drinks etc. good pub food, well prepared and came quickly. The children enjoyed being able to go outside and watch the canal. We have booked again for March next year.

What a little gem of a place right beside the River Avon on the outskirts of Bath. A beautiful old house next to the stand up paddle board club.  We had a delicious dinner - with free bottle of house white - before sitting out on the terrace overlooking the water. The bedrooms were delightful - all different to each other and not feeling like a hotel more like someone’s lovely home. very comfy and welcoming

Friendly warm and just the right amount of quirky!

Super cute atmosphere with the wind in the willows themed room, amazing artwork and dog friendly! Georgia was amazing, so helpful and so sweet we can’t wait to go back. Prices weren’t too bad considering the location and selection available.

Good choice!

We had such a lovely stay here. Us and two kids stayed in a beautiful bedroom with a great balcony. Such a pleasure to wake up and have tea whilst watching the row boats go past. Great breakfast and convenient for the park and ride so you can have a drink in town and not worry about driving. Sarah was particularly helpful with recommendations. Nothing was too much trouble definitely recommend. 🙂

City break with a country feel 🤠

Arrived and parked, (struggled over a massive speed hump)
Was shown to our room by a nice young lad who was very pleasant. 
On a first scan of the room we noticed a very dirty carpet which had not been vacuumed for quite a while.  Toe nail clippings,plastic clothes tags, hair, fluff and general very obvious dirt.
Seat by window was stained with general dirt build up. Bathroom had a pile of dust,pubes, hair etc around the skirting and a traffic dirt build up on the tiles floor in the centre, along with mould and scum on tiles and sink.
Stains on curtains and cobwebs and dirt everywhere. 
Also greeted with someone's skid mark in the toilet 
I reported the dirt and they promised to go up and clean while we were at dinner.
In their defence they did a quick vac and wipe in Bathroom but was still not up to any standard for a hotel room, let alone a £160 per night room
Bed was ok and view of river nice,  viewing the river was unfortunately ruined by the stinking smoking area for the pub directly underneath.
The room doors and the fire doors in the corridor slammed very loudly everytime other guests past through and I got woken quite a few times. 
Water bottle by bed was filthy with sediment and top didn't seal. 
Tea cups dirty like they had just been swilled in tje Bathroom sink and kettle filthy with limescale 
Can't comment on breakfast as I didn't want to risk dirty practices with my food too, so skipped that even though I'd paid for it
Staff were disinterested and offered a small £60 room reduction but it still wasn't of 100 quid quality.

Shame really as it could be lovely

Could have been lovely, but room was filthy

Possibly the last evening of summer, decided to go to the Boathouse to enjoy it,superb location by the river and lots of outside tables.
Perfect for a couple of long cool G&Ts with friends.
Unfortunately they seemed completely unprepared for guests.
Unnecessarily long queues at the bar and surly bar staff.
If there was a manager’s on duty they should have stepped up to help the bar staff and encourage them to be more customer friendly.
Not the experience we had hoped for.

What a shame

I always try to temper my comments and be as fair as possible, but whilst finding the Biathouse to be ok, it was just that, ok.

It is a bit overpriced for what was average fare.  

The service was friendly and efficient, and the outdoor seating area had the advantage of being on the river, but the food is fairly average.  In fairness, I can't say the good was bad in any way, but if that's the way we measure food nowadays, then we are in trouble.

Would I go again? Yes, for a drink by the water.

Nice location by the river

We chose to stay here mainly as it’s next door to the park’n’ride, but would highly recommend. It’s positioned next to the river Avon with lovely far reaching views. So feels more rural than it is. It’s only about a ten minute bus ride into the centre of Bath. Our room was really pretty, well equipped, with good wifi, and also had a strong hot shower. There’s a little refill station on the landing that has different waters, teas, coffee and fruit for you to stock up on. I also liked that the TV has a live feed of the view from the front of the hotel (our room was at the back). Because of this TV feed we were able to see hot air balloons take off directly opposite the Boathouse and enjoy the stunning sunsets. A lovely bonus. The breakfasts were perfect. As well as full english, cooked to order, they offered an excellent buffet with fresh honeycomb, fresh fruit, Portuguese tarts, and a choice of chocolate and almond croissants. The staff were lovely, very attentive and we particularly loved the housekeeper. We would definitely stay here again.

A great stay.

This review is mainly about our waiter, Joel. The way he looked after us was amazing. Very professional, very attentive, very polite. He made sure at all times we had everything we needed to have an enjoyable meal and throughout all with a smile on his face. What an absolute asset to this restaurant. I can not praise him highly enough. And to top it off the food was really nice too. 

Evening meal

Having stayed at its sister hotel the 1777 in Wimborne earlier this year, we were expecting a high standard and were not disappointed.  

We met Chelsea on arrival who checked us in and took us to the room.  It was stunning.  An idyllic home from home for a couple of nights.  

We had a lovely Sunday roast, perfect after a long drive.   Plus a complimentary drink each as guests.  

Breakfasts were tasty and perfect to set you up for a days sightseeing.  Much preferred jams and marmalades being served in little dishes to those awful plastic peel back lid pots - you just have to ask.  

The park and ride is 2 min stroll from The Boat House.  10 mins to centre of Bath.  You get off by the Westgate Buildings and the stop got the TootBus is 50 yards along the pavement.  

Overall if you’re looking for somewhere close to the city, but in the country then this is the place.

Thank you to all the staff, in particular Kim, the lovely housekeeper.  She ensures the rooms are maintained to the highest standard.
