Lovely bed and breakfast run by a welcoming couple.  It was like staying with family.  The room was large and well laid out with a lovely view over the church.  There is a lovely park opposite for a stroll before a hearty breakfast.  Would definately recommend staying here.

Long weekend break

Really lovely place to stay.. Julian and his wife very friendly and helpful.. gorgeous room... Exceptionally clean and very comfortable... breakfast was yummy...full cooked breakfast.. not too far from the city centre so easily walkable.. definitely would recommend staying here..

50th Birthday Treat

Wow what a beautiful place to stay. We were welcomed like going home. Our room was huge as was the bathroom. We had a view of the massive church from our window. Decorated to perfection. Breakfast is great and you can sit out in the garden if you wish. A short walk over the bridge into the city. Such warm and friendly people I would stay here again anytime for sure. Just loved it

Amazing, fantastic, brilliant

Just read the review by cuisine_screener and while I understand where this reviewer is coming from, my view is the exact opposite.  We were in Mrs Smith’s room which is right at the top of the house and you have to climb many stairs to get there, but my goodness, it was a pleasure to stay in this house.  Julian and Mechtildt could not have been better hosts; after eating out the first night in Bath, we decided to picnic out the back in the most charming garden with some local food and some Australian wine (we admit we are biased) for the next two.  The wifi thing is only annoying if that is really important to you.  We weren’t bothered - it was nice to not have to bother with emails etc while on holiday.  The shower was really good. The breakfast was lovely and we met some lovely people.  Only down side was it has been unusually hot and we could have done with a fan.
Being a bit of a Jane Austen’s Persuasion tragic, I booked this house because this was where they filmed part of the BBC movie.  
On a very positive note, with the stairs we climbed to our room every day, we are now a bit fitter than we were!

What can I say!

The B&B is located in a period early 19th century townhouse in the historical centre of Bath. It is close to all the important places in the city but on the other side of the river. Contrary to what one of the recent reviews says, the area is in my opinion very quiet. We didn't notice any railway noise (we stayed there in November 2017). The house is very elegant and furnished with antiques. Our room was large and comfortable, with a nice view at the nearby park. The only downside was that it was not very warm, but we turned up the heater and it was OK.

The hosts are very nice and caring. During booking I added a note that we (my wife and I) were vegans, and they prepared us a very good vegan breakfast.
