My husband & I have stayed in this area many time due to my Ancestors living/working  in Glen strathfarrar in the middle of the Glen at Ardchulk & so knew this hotel as The Cnoc Inn so naturally booked to stay at the Cnoc not realising that new owners had  bought the Inn ---Well we were delighted to see new life being brought into this quaint Inn sympathetically done too  (such a HIGH standard ) Duncan & Luzan were great hosts & our evening meal of roast chicken was delicious--& our breakfast just as we liked it --hopefully we will get back to my  next year & will be able to stay longer --

Putting to one side the somewhat unfortunate delay of about four weeks in me now sitting down to write this review, I find myself once again reminiscing on another fantastic stay with Duncan and Luzaan at the Cnoc.

As returning guests, we can lay testament to the fact that the hotel continues to go from strength to strength and, as with last year, we have already secured our place for the same long weekend in
2024 - with, I might add - an additional night factored in.

If you are considering booking your first stay at this wonderful establishment, I strongly urge you to stop faffing and do so. Immediately.

We were staying locally and came here as a family for an evening meal one Friday in September. Wonderful, friendly warm welcome and attentive (but not intrusive) service throughout the evening. The food was fabulous - beautifully presented and delicious. Loved the decor and ambience too. Would love to stay here if we return to the area again. Totally exceeded our expectations. The website does not do it justice.

Wonderful evening meal - what a gem of a find!

We stayed for 4 nights in August and we really enjoyed exploring this area that we hadn't been to previously. Duncan & Luzaan are great hosts and all of the staff were really friendly & helpful. We stayed in "Lovat" which was comfortable, clean and spacious with a great view.  Duncan is an excellent cook and we had some delicious meals during our stay and Luzaan makes some fantastic desserts.
We went into Beauly which has a ruined priory and some useful and interesting shops and a nice river walk on the outskirts of the town. We also explored Glen Affric, taking in Dog falls, Plodda falls and on our last day we did a circuit of the loch. The "walkhighlands app" covers this area and is currently free to download.
Closer to the hotel is Strathfarra which is a lovely drive leading to a dam through a beautiful valley. The number of cars are restricted and you need to stop at the gate house to be able to proceed but well worth doing. 
We thoroughly enjoyed our short break here and will definitely return.


Great hosts and lovely location

The warmest welcome you could imagine.  Nothing was too much trouble and we were late arriving but they made us so welcome and didn’t rush us. Supper and breakfast were superb - properly home made and well done.  Wine list was interesting and not over priced.  The whole place had a lovely feel.  Would highly recommend 

Hidden gem - website doesn’t do it justice!

We were staying at the nearby Culligran Cabins for the week, to walk the Munros in the area. Booked into the Cnoc for dinner this evening and it was superb. We had a lovely meal, a relaxing dining experience, before heading to the bar for some drinks. We walked home feeling relaxed and content after visiting this delightful hotel. The staff are friendly, hardworking and welcoming. The food was fantastic. This is a hidden gem and we hope to be back, with a view to staying in the hotel next time. We arrived early before other diners and managed to take a photo beforehand. I would thoroughly recommend a stay or visit here.

Lovely meal and dining experience.

Despite having been a TripAdvisor member for nearly 9 years, I’ve only ever left a handful of reviews - the simple reason being that when there is something that is, without question, worth shouting about, but at the same time enormously unrecognised or not on the general public radar, people need to know about it. 

Duncan and Luzaan’s (fairly) recent takeover of the Cnoc falls squarely within that category without a shadow of a doubt. From the moment we arrived for our 3 night first time stay, we were made to feel like the most important guests in the whole hotel. The hospitality, attention to detail and flexibility to ensure we had the most enjoyable stay was second to none. We ended up re-booking for the same 3 nights in October 2023 before we had even left the premises to come home - what does that tell you?

Absolutely knock-out hospitality. I challenge you to find somewhere better, and don’t just mean locally…

Visited agin on our annual bike ride after a great stay last year. The new owners have done a great job in retaining the authenticity, great hospitality, and excellent food, while making some visible improvements to the main bar and restaurant areas of the hotel. Secure bike storage was provided and is easy to recharge if you have an eMTB.   This hotel is right on the An Turas Mor bike route so make sure you plan this into your itinerary and this is one of the gems along the trail.

Our first stay at The Cnoc Hotel was truly memorable for all the right reasons.  The new owners Duncan and Luzaan were very welcoming and their staff were excellent.  We couldn’t fault the food and it was so good we ate in every evening!!  The perfect cooked breakfasts set us up for days of strolling and sightseeing in the local glens and lochs.   The bar was very well stocked and festooned with a multitude of talking points!!    The beds were very comfortable and the morning views from our room were an added bonus.    

All in all we cannot recommend this fine establishment highly enough.  We can’t wait to go back.

Lovely stay at a hidden highland gem

This is our local pub, it is always friendly & welcoming no matter who is working. Food is delicious, great choice of drinks & the house red is lovely. Relaxed atmosphere 🍷🍺
The garden is perfect on a sunny day to refresh & breath! The grounds & gardens are kept well.
