It was great to be back at Post Office House with hosts, Claire and Simon. Our room and breakfasts were top class as usual and we always receive a wonderful welcome. Lots of tips for nearby places to visit, books and maps to borrow. Northumberland and Post Office House is definitely well worth a visit - you will not be disappointed!!

Such a lovely place to stay, we keep coming back!!

This was our first visit to post office house, it won't be our last. 
The house and rooms are spotlessly clean with lovely decor, reference to it being a post office dotted around the house, lots of extras in the room to make your stay as comfortable as possible. 

The choice for breakfast is very good with variations each day.
The quality and presentation of the food is exceptional, and soon becomes apparent that Simon and Claire have experience and qualifications in  hospitality .

They are a very friendly couple that go out of there way to make your stay a exceptional one

What a gem

A great bed and breakfast - the second time I've stayed there and one of the best I've ever stayed in. Guests received a warm welcome with all the information you need about the B&B and surrounding area and local eateries. The  rooms and facilities of a very high standard and first class breakfast.

A lovely place to stay ...

The old Post Office is among the top three B and B stays I've ever stayed at, and the best in the UK. 

Utterly clean, well equipped [for instance turbi-twist towels, luggage mats, hairdryer, china tea cups, emergency torch]. Comfy beds. Feather duvets and pillows by default but synthetics available for those with allergies.

Breakfast was delicious every day, with some good choices available beside the full English. Substantial but not enough to defeat me.  Local Craster kippers on Wednesday! 

Friendly helpful owners, always ready to answer queries and help out. They give you advice on access and parking on the day you are due to arrive.

As they don't do evening meals, you will need to make your own arrangements. The Bluebell Hotel opposite and the Black Swan next-door-but-one don't serve food every evening. There are, I believe, plenty of other places within easy driving reach. Visitors from urban environments should note that there isn't an open-all-night culture in this area, so it's wise to check and book and don't leave it too late.

I would definitely want to stay here again if I was visiting Northumberland.

Couldn't hope for a better B and B

Claire and Simon are impeccable hosts. They are a welcoming and knowledgeable couple who have put a great deal of thought into making their guests comfortable and well fed. Simon's breakfasts are fresh and delicious!

I stayed in the Longstone room for three nights with my mother while we explored the area - Alnwick, Alnmouth, Bamburgh, Holy Island and some of the smaller villages around. Post Office House B&B is in an ideal location to get around all these places very easily by car. If you're stuck for ideas, Claire will have some great suggestions.

With a stay here, you can't go wrong!

Impeccable hosts and a great base

We stayed in Coquet room for three nights. Met by Claire who explained everything. We had electric bikes with us so it was good to have a secure garage to store the bikes in. Also good location for riding along some nice quiet country roads. Claire even provided us with some information leaflets for some cycling routes. Our room had everything we required with great attention to detail as mentioned by others. Great breakfasts cooked by Simon with quality ingredients. So filling that even had to refuse toast afterwards. Claire also recommended a lovely pub/restaurant a short distance down A1 where we had an excellent meal. Also enjoyed fish/chips from village shop. We would stay again if we were in the area.

In quiet location away from busier areas

Fabulous micro B&B with just three rooms. Perfect location in the small town of Belford just off the A1 with great access towards Alnwick to the south, Berwick to the north, Bamburgh and the coast to the east, and rugged rural north Northumberland to the west. Very friendly and helpful hosts with great advice on local pubs, restaurants and places to visit (thanks Claire and Simon). We had the ground floor Berwick room for three nights, which was very comfortable, with tea and coffee facilities (including a carton of fresh semi-skimmed milk, always a bonus over the usual small plastic pots of long-life milk, provided in a small fridge in the room), and a good-sized en suite shower room. Breakfasts were beautifully prepared, with freshly sliced fruit, great yoghurt, and a wide selection of hot dishes, with meat, fish and vegan options available, cooked to your order, which you decide the previous evening. We definitely expect to visit again, perhaps when the new Ad Gefrin whisky distillery in nearby Wooler is open to public visits which is now scheduled for February 2023.

Very highly recommended B&B in a great location for north Northumberland.

My husband and I stayed at Post Office House for for nights at the end of August and it was truly wonderful! Claire and Simon are excellent hosts who could not have possibly done more for us during our stay. We had to push our holiday back due to personal circumstances and Claire immediately responded with availability to ensure we could still go away and have a much needed break! Both hosts were extremely knowledgeable about the local area and offered us plenty of advice on where to eat and places to visit. Our room was the Croquet room; spacious and comfortable with a lovely en-suite bathroom. It has everything we needed and more, going the extra mile with hot chocolate and marshmallows in our room. Breakfast was via pre-order and absolutely delicious every time, with an excellent, varied menu and high quality produce. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and will no doubt be back in the future to continue exploring all that Northumberland has to offer.

A fabulous retreat from reality!

Claire and Simon were wonderful hosts! Their breakfasts were amazing, not only did they have a wonderful selection of breakfasts and different on different days, but the cooked breakfasts were delightful and tasty. Claire and Simon have an good eye for detail! For example a little pot at breakfast to put your cherry stones, ear plugs next to the bed, a mat for hair straightners and many other little things that make your stay feel extra special. The twin room we stayed in was tranquil, comfortable, and elegant. It had a lovely modern bathroom and again they had gone the extra mile with hair turbans and dressing gowns. Would definitely recommend and will be going back! Thank you again for a wonderful stay!

Delightful place to stay!

Arriving for our stay with Simon and Claire is a comfortingly familiar experience . Nothing is ever too much trouble. Breakfasts are A* (loved the egg topper gadget 😁). And for anyone reading this, if you haven't been, definitely put it on your 'to do list '!
