We stayed there for 1 night, on a dinner,bed and breakfast basis. The building is excellent with a very deep history, as a Stately home for a local businessman.
The good points, the staff are great and very helpful, especially Georgia who took the time to explain what we needed to know.
The room was clean overlooking the car park which suited me.
The evening meal was very nice even though the menu was a little limited.
The breakfast was plentiful as it was a buffet, with cereals, pastries, and the usual cooked items.
The bad points.
The sand filled tubs for the smokers, all had, full dog waste bags, probably because there were no bins to be seen anywhere. 
No sweeteners to be found in the room or at breakfast. 
No black pudding at breakfast. 
And the biggest problem in my eyes,(apart from the warm wine, that never got cold enough to drink at dinner) cold plates to put your hot breakfast on, not good in this day and age.
Not a bad place, with a little more attention to the small details, and I would have given it 5/5

One night stop over

Stayed last year and loved it, booked again as a birthday treat for the wife and we weren't disappointed.  Love the beautiful old building, rooms are comfortable and quite spacious, yes some might need a bit of attention but all clean and the staff are great.  We booked the dinner and breakfast option, the food is very good and great value.  Bar is not overpriced and two minutes walk to one of the areas finest real ale pubs.  Lots of walking and cycling routes in the area.  No doubt we will be back.

Second visit

We spent three relaxing days here.1st class room in the courtyard, helpful staff, excellent breakfast and evening meals. Ideal for driving up into the Dales. Although we didn’t explore the grounds, in the spring / summer  they would certainly be worth a look.

Well worth a visit

avoid at all costs, overpriced, used tampons on the ground, stagnant and stale water in the bathrooms, rooms loud and smell of wet dog.

4 star prices for 2 star experience, breakfast a mess on the first morning.

Heather makes a banging cocktail. Shes a great lass and derserves a pay rise.

Burger was alright and all. 

Rooms are right nice, had a great time here, will almost certainly stay again.

Heather; an ode.

Had a lovely afternoon tea here with a friend. The sandwiches and cakes were delicious (the scones were still warm) and there was a plentiful supply of tea. All served by friendly staff in a lovely setting.

Delicious afternoon tea 

We had a lovely overnight stay here. Our room was spacious & very comfortable with far reaching views over the countryside. There was a problem with the signal for the TV so we were only able to get one channel to work. We rang reception & it was a known problem, this could do with sorting out. We had dinner in the restaurant which was enjoyable. Service throughout our stay was excellent,all staff being very friendly & attentive. The only let down was breakfast. It was a buffet style & the hot food had clearly been out a while. The fried eggs were like rubber, luckily some more were bought out just as we started eating so we replaced ours with these. The sausages & bacon had both suffered also from being there too long &the hashbrowns were just soggy. Think this system needs reviewing as clearly there must be a lot of food wastage which in turn is not good for profits. This aside though we would certainly recommend this hotel.

Enjoyable stay

Disappointed.   My daughters bought this stay for part of my 80th birthday celebrations.  One daughter and her partner were staying overnight too prior to a big family get together at the Elephant and Peacock.  As my husband has mobility issues, they booked a ground floor room classed as accessible.  Bathroom was a good size, well lit, walk in shower, but only one grab rail and no towel rail. I have
 some visual impairment; there was no scissor type mirror. The distance between the wall mirror, shelf, wash basin was almost 3' so I couldn't see to out on make up and it was too dark in the bedroom. Breakfast next day left a lot to be desired. No proper meet and greet left to.ourown devices. Very little for a vegan daughter and food only lukewarm.  My daughter and her partner had problems with their bathroom, given another room where the tiles were lifting off the floor and had to settle for a sorry room as it was the only one left due to a wedding. The grounds are certainly in need of some tlc, lots of weeds and grass growing between paving. The main rooms in the hotel were lovely though just a shame about the accommodation.  Despite emailing the hotel I received no response.


Disappointed 

We have just returned from a Fantastic stay at Makeney Hall.
On arrival we were greeted by a lovely receptionist who told us our room had been upgraded to The Bridal Suite ,which was a lovely surprise  as we were celebrating a special Anniversary.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal,the complimentary Prosecco was an additional surprise too.
We also enjoyed afternoon tea.
We felt totally spoilt,all of the staff were friendly and efficient.
Thank You to everyone,we will definitely be returning. 

We Enjoyed It

I went for Sunday lunch 2 weeks ago with my Wife.
The service was excellent and we had a really good 3 course meal.
All of the food was home cooked including the soup and the puddings.
It was a delightful day and we both really enjoyed our time at the Makeney.
Compliments to the chef and all of the staff and we definitely will return again.
