We had the pleasure of attending the premises whilst on holiday ,we went for an evening meal.(and i reiterate the word pleasure because it was ) 

We along with extended family were staying at the Haven Caravan site at Haggerston Castle.
We found the pub very welcoming ,it was cosy and clean and the staff were attentive , friendly and the prices were reasonable.

There was four adults in our party and because of our different tastes  we all finished up ordered something different yet the meals arrived quickly, hot,  substantial and very tasty.
Part way through the meal towards the end ,the staff were eager to see if we had enjoyed the meal and if all was ok,which it was.
The only criticism i can level at the pub was,we called again the following evening and it was closed despite the website stating it was open.
In conclusion we would definitely recommend paying a visit i don't think you will be disappointed.   

Great Experience

We stayed for one night on 29 July 2023. We had a room with twin beds as this was all that was available at short notice on Sat night. The host was very pleasant and approachable although he never introduced himself. Good breakfast. Under new management. I wish them well for the future. 

Great location 

The owners of the Inn went above and beyond for two stranded travellers, despite having a personal emergency. They were incredible kind, preparing some food for us even when the restaurant was closed. The beds were comfortable, and overall the room was clean. I would recommend staying here, and would definitely consider staying again if I was ever in that part of the UK again. 

Good food and Amazing Staff

We stayed in a family room (double & two single beds) along with the family dog.  We had great views from our room, which was a good size.  The double bed was comfortable, but the mattresses on the single beds were not very good, so we had to adapt bedding accordingly (we did ask for additional duvet covers to help rectify this, but they were not forthcoming).
We had breakfast on both days (vegetarian – options were different on each day).  The food was very good and the service was excellent.  We would have liked to stay for an evening meal, but we needed free internet access in order to plan for our ongoing trip (at the time of our stay, BT had not been able to resolve the issue). 
As others have mentioned, the inn is located on the A1, but we were not bothered by the traffic.

Very welcoming hosts, great food & dog friendly

Great inn on the A1 and a good base for visiting Berwick, Holy Island and Bamburgh. We stayed for 3 nights in June and used The Island View Inn as a base for our trips out. Our room was clean, bright and comfortable and the view from the room across the countryside and coast was lovely. We stayed B&B and the breakfast was great but we also had dinner there 2 out of the 3 nights and that was also very good quality and value. The inn is right on the A1 but the traffic in Northumberland is nothing like in the South so there is no road noise in the room. Great base for exploring the area.

Great inn for comfort and value and location

We stayed here just before Lockdown2 commenced and drove over to the island for a morning (day cut short by the tide) before heading back home.  Berwick-upon-Tweed is just a few miles North, with the Scottish border just a couple of miles further.  If you're staying as tourists, as we were, you will need transport.    The rooms are located on the first floor - not ideal for persons with limited mobility - and are both roomy and fresh.  The photos show the view from the window - you can see the island (of Lindisfarne) - and its a great location if you're travelling, since its right next to the A1.  With the windows closed we heard no traffic noise.  Our room faced South enjoying views across to Lindisfarne, down the A1 and across open fields.  Covid restrictions are strictly enforced - for the benefit of everyone's health.  We had a pizza as an evening meal - best one i've tasted!  Under normal circumstances you would be able to enjoy a drink in the bar with a convivial atmosphere.  As it was we took a drink up to the room and enjoyed our pizza in front of the television.  The breakfast, like the evening meal, was freshly cooked and delicious.  Tea and coffee making facilities in the room.  Nice, fluffy towels with complementary soap and shower gel.  The staff really made our break special, going out of their way to make us comfortable whilst adhering to the strict health and safety protocol.

Hospitable Hosts

My family has just had a beautiful 3 course Sunday lunch delivered to our caravan. The meal was cooked really well and was plentiful too. We had also had pizza delivered last week which again was delicious. I really hope that these guys survive the turbulent times that Covid has caused. Their hard work and dedication certainly deserves to.

We stayed for 2 nights here on our tour of the north the owner and staff were so warm and welcoming in these difficult times they couldn't do enough for us the food was excellent and reasonably priced on the day we were leaving the electricity was off as a new generator was being installed pay over the phone your bill when you get home he was so trustworthy we will definitely return and recommend you to others John and Anne Minns

Super service 

We had a Sunday lunch and a deal for 2 from the menu both delivered to our lodge at Haggerston castle and you could not fault the delivery service or the food . We would highly recommend the Island view inn .

Takeaway meal

brilliant hotel to stay in, two members of staff were absolutely amazing, anything you need and they give you it!!! excellent food too, very tasty. Highly recommend the hotel for a weekend away for couples.
