The shepherds hut was perfect for a few relaxing nights away. Carol was super friendly and helpful with directions. They left fresh eggs straight from their farm for us which were delicious and some marshmallows to roast over the firepit. They offer add ons for your stay including a breakfast selection, picnic basket and even a homemade cake if you are away for a special occasion which I will definitely try next time. The garden was a good size with a BBQ and hot tub but if you have a dog bring a long line to tie them to as they may be able to squeeze under the gate. Overall, I would definitely recommend and wouldn't hesitate to book again!

Super relaxing surrounded by beautiful countryside

We stayed here with our Greyhound over the New Year and had a great stay. The hosts are friendly and welcoming. It's very relaxing. We ordered the breakfast hamper and the afternoon tea and both were delicious. We would stay here again for sure.  Matt

Great stay!

We had a super two night stay at the Weardale Retreat. Carol communicated directions in advance and gave us a very warm welcome.  On arrival we were greeted to a huge bouquet of flowers, Prosecco and plenty of nice touches such as fluffy robes and slippers. The double bed was very comfortable and there was a plentiful supply of logs for the wood burner. The breakfast baskets were delicious and filled us up nicely for the day ahead. We had a fantastic time switching off from our chaotic lifestyle; relaxing to admire views and recharge batteries. Everywhere was immaculately clean and guests have private use of a hot tub and fire pit to toast the marshmallows provided. Carol recommended a visit to Hamsterley Forest which didn’t disappoint, plus a delicious meal at the local Italian restaurant.  The whole experience was amazing and it was such a nice peaceful get away! Honestly cannot recommend enough and encourage everyone to book in to experience this for themselves. Thanks Carol and John for your amazing hospitality, we are very grateful indeed.

Relaxing Retreat

We stayed in the shepherds hut for four nights it was  an amazing  place with beautiful views, it was spotlessly clan and had everything you needed for a short self catering stay. The wood fired hot tub was very easy to use and a great way to relax after a day out.we couldn’t fault it and would highly recommend it we also had a continental breakfast delivered to us one morning and it was wonderful and full of locally produced goodies

An amazing stay in the shepherds hut

We stayed at Newlands Hall farmhouse for 2 nights using a Buyagift voucher. We were made very welcome and shown to our room. The room was spotless and had a lovely view out to the garden and beyond. Two pieces of homemade cake had been left out for us (yummy ). Breakfast was a help yourself continental but we could have paid a little extra for a cooked breakfast .We enjoyed our break and would go again

We stayed here while walking the Weardale Way.  The rooms were very roomy and clean, I especially enjoyed my bath after a long day’s walk!  Breakfast was plentiful and very good, including homemade bread and marmalade.  Thank you!

Breakfast was excellent, and Carol very obliging. A pretty view, nice garden and quiet spot to relax and unwind after a long day of walking in the rain. Thank you for for the stay.

Lovely reception by Carol on arrival with afternoon tea (once you get past the friendly cows on the drive). 
Stunning views from the bedroom room and dinning room. 
Bedroom has all the essentials plus a few extras such as a decent size under counter fridge for milk walk and your own drinks. Also some homemade cookies left in the room on arrival which was a nice touch. 
Lovely walks nearby and Carol pointed out some other key places to visit during our stay which was great.

Lovely welcoming country B&B

If you want to get away from it all I highly recommend Newlands Hall Farm. Had a warm welcome from Carol, the lovely proprietor even tho the weather was not :-) being woken to the sound of lambs bleating is my idea of happy x no road noise or light pollution just the occasional owl hoot! Was bliss x

Lovely relaxing break

My wife and I stayed at Newlands Farm on 14/15th November, and loved it.
Up a short windy drive to a busy working farm, directions to the Guesthouse car park are well displayed. Parking on clean gravel and Carol came out to meet us which we thought was a nice touch.
Our room was warm, spotless, and had all mod cons expected these days. Comfy bed, comfy pillows, comfy sofa, TV, En suite and even a small fridge into which a jug of fresh milk is placed daily.
USB charger points on the wall, and free WiFi.
Considering this farm is quite way out in the country, these were all welcome.
Carol is a lovely friendly lady, and she cooks a mean breakfast too. Nothing was too much trouble, and we not only thoroughly recommend Newlands Hall to others, but will have no hesitation in going there again.
