I took my friend and her daughter here to celebrate her 50th birthday. We had a really good time. I loved it and would definitely stay again. Only regret is we only stayed 1 night and i'd have liked to stay longer. Pool and spa area lovely. Beautiful meal in the restaurant. Lovely comfortable old house and beautiful gardens to walk around.

Relaxing celebratory stay

Both my husband & I absolutely love this place and visit at least once a year.
This year we had treated ourselves to a two night stay as part of our 30th wedding anniversary celebrations. However, due to lockdown we weren't able to visit as the business closed. We have tried on several occasions to telephone and email to speak to someone but no response what so ever! the website site states that vouchers will be extended to November 2020 but we paid hard, earned cash! I am bitterly disappointed at the complete lack of customer service from such an established business. Still waiting to find out what's going on!!

Bitterly disappointed with lack of customer service

I booked a 2 day stay as a surprise Christmas present for my wife. They issued us with 2 vouchers 1 for the stay and 1 for monetary use for treatments. We booked for the 22-23 April 2020.
We just received an email offering refunds for bookings made by Credit/Debit card - which we used. This was to be claimed by 24 March as they were closing completely after this date.
The arrogant and unhelpful personnel refused to give us a refund because they were "vouchers", but instead told us the vouchers were extended until 1 November
That is virtually one year since we bought them.
We are both older, vulnerable people in these uncertain times and would have appreciated some care and consideration.
BEWARE BUYING VOUCHERS FROM THESE PEOPLE!

Disgusted

Myself and a great friend have just had the most wonderful 24hrs.  We chose to have 2 single rooms.  They were perfectly comfortable and had everything we needed.  One had a shower and the other had a bath with a shower over, so it was nice to choose.  My friend was cold as we went to bed, the night porter offered an extra portable radiator which he brought up - this was wonderful service.  I am not saying the hotel was cold, she just gets cold!
We spent the 24hrs, relaxing, swimming, chatting, walking in the beautiful grounds and had the most delicious dinner (fantastic menu) and an enormous breakfast pretty much anything you would want.  We shopped in the wonderful boutique - amazing, stylish and good value.  We didn't go to Cedar Falls to shop but a bit of retail therapy is always good for the soul!  Mrs Smith was so accommodating while we deliberated so much.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, it felt personal rather than impersonal like some larger spa hotels can feel.
We only went to one class (the classes on our first day were cancelled due to the instructor being off sick) this was a pity but for us not a worry, we could always swim, gym etc. instead.
I have been to Cedar Falls 4 times now, the last time being about 5 years ago.  This was very definitely a better all round experience, there is more attention to detail and there has been a face lift of the bedrooms in particular.
All in all, I will definitely be back and loved being with my friend in such a relaxing environment.
I do feel that they must have had a lot of robes and towels stolen in the past as you have to give your one allocated robe and pool towel in on departure or you will be charged.  This is probably a sign of the times.  Take your own slippers/flipfops too or you can buy some for a £1.
It is somewhere I would recommend, the formula works well.  The house and grounds are beautifully maintained and beautifully furnished.

A wonderful stay

There is some consistency in the complaints about this 'health farm' over the last 3-4 years which I would agree are still valid. It is true that the bedrooms are small and squalid, and that the public spaces are shabby and tired. 
As a review of September 2017 stated, management's purpose was to try to make every extra penny. If management were offering good facilities and service this would be fine. Whilst failing to offer value for money Mr and Mrs Smith, the proprietors, aim to extract as much money from customers without any attention to their enjoyment and comfort.

Two particular elements which are critical to the offering of a health farm deserve mention.

When I stayed this last week there was only one fitness instructor which meant there were no classes at all on two days. The only other instructor had left the previous Friday, and although not unanticipated, no attempt had been made to arrange cover so that guests could attend the classes advertised to them at the time of booking. This failure to provide classes stemmed from penny-pinching alone.

Meals should be important in a health farm and made from high quality ingredients. Mr and Mrs Smith's aim is to extract as many lunch bookings at the standard £18.50 as possible. Predictable quiche seems to form the centrepiece of this uninviting buffet. Even the bread is cheap and the flaccid roll offered at dinner could have come straight from a supermarket bargain pack. The breakfast is unappetising and the tinned and frozen fruit quite tasteless.
What the Smiths are particularly keen on is selling bottles of wine and their gin cocktails are prominently displayed.

The most disturbing aspect of the owners management style is their refusal to tolerate any complaints. Their stock response is to aggressively accuse their customers of being rude, when indeed it is only the Smiths who are guilty of this.
There are two reviews from June 2019 in which one lady was treated without courtesy, accused of rudeness and banned from returning. The other reviewer was shocked to see Mr Smith shouting at a young employee who was reduced to tears.
This customer's judgement that Mr Smith 'had no idea how to run this place' resonated with me. Two other guests told me that they were appalled to witness the verbal abuse and physically threatening behaviour which Mr Smith loudly and publicly displayed towards me. They thought that he should not be in this business if he thought it was acceptable to treat guests so badly.

I was relieved to escape from such an unpleasant environment which was very far from providing a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

The Unhealthy Farm


Had another fab stay, this time with my husband, his second visit, for an overnight stay. 
Check in was smooth, and our room was ready early. 
Lovely room (30) nice furnishings and great to see espa products in the bathroom which I always treat myself to when I am here. 
We booked in for lunch, which was not included in our package, and at only £18.50, for what you get it is really good value, with an amazing choice of salads, fish, meats, quiche, cheeses etc, plus homemade soup and breads to start and a pudding. 
I had a facial and also a body massage, both were excellent, loved the heated beds on which you have the treatments. Very cozy and warm. My husband had a craniosacral therapy treatment which he said was amazing. 
He also said the men’s changing rooms had been renovated since he was last here, and was really nice, especially the huge shower. 
Loved the spa area, with the sunny (occasionally) conservatory and having poolside drinks delivered. 
Dinner was incredibly good, great choice, the staff were attentive even though it was quite a busy evening for them. 
We had drinks in the bar area (with the complimentary nuts and olives) from the extensive gin menu, tried the signature cocktail which would recommend.
We found all the staff to be very friendly, nothing too much trouble, and always happy and smiling. 
All in all a really great weekend away, and incredibly good value, especially when we don’t have far to travel to get there. We shall definitely use more frequently. 



Fabulous Stay

A trip to celebrate a birthday, compared to last visit it was very busy (both had been half terms), had to jostle to get a lounger bed and others saving them when they shouldn't. Great coffee. Had a massage was Ok but the room was chilly. Had a free treatment from a choice of 2 and we ended up with the one we didn't ask for on the phone when we booked. The 3 course lunch was the highlight of the day.

Food best bit if the day

Was given a voucher for my birthday from our son and Daughter in law, I booked up a couples massage  for myself and my husband, the phone conversation on booking was helpful and keen until I gave the voucher code and the female on the other end said ...oh this is a Black Friday voucher, her tone changed, but I put this to the back of my head thinking that maybe I had imagined it ....but the customer service we received at our appointment unfortunately was very disappointing, we were admittedly 5 minutes late as traffic was very bad, the guy on main reception said something odd when we checked in, I said we were there for couples massage and he replied oh yes I think I’ve seen your names on tHe list ?? Odd as I hadn’t given our name ?? 
The  massage it’s self was nice but after we were led back to the reception area where I asked where the toilet was and the female that had just messaged me pointed to the toilet then walked away and proceeded to massage the female shoulders of the receptionist, she never said thank you or hope you enjoyed it, would you like a glass of water offered to show us around Incase we wanted to return ( but we definitely don’t feel we want to return here ) very disappointed and we were really looking forward to it.
We feel so upset for our son and daughter in law who had paid a lot of money to spoil me for my 50th birthday, this should of been a memorable occasion for all the right reasons .....not all the wrong reasons, left me wondering if it was because our vouchers were bought on Black Friday or do all your guest get this poor service.

Disappointed

Location is lovely and the house looks beautiful as you arrive.  Inside the decoration is very dated threadbare furniture and filthy carpet.  Our room was the same clean but looked like it was out of a 70's. Never been anywhere that does not give you glass bottles of complementary water, to
 me this is basic.  Tea and coffee with uht milk
 no nice little touches like biscuits or hot
 chocolate. The room was heated by an old storage heater which just kept turning off. The shower
 was in the bath which
 worked well although
 the glass shower seal was broken so water was all across the floor.  See the pictures included, again very dated bathroom.
Our room had a lovely view and the beds were clean. 
The spa treatments were lovely and staff were friendly we enjoyed time there very much.
Lunch was soup buffet salads meats and fruits. After lazing around in the spa we had seen on the information that the hotel offered afternoon tea and a selection of homemade cakes.  Well not a homemade cake in sight, just pre packed choice of shop made full of additives, not homemade at all! 
Dinner was very nice I had goats cheese and beetroot followed by pork tenderloin veg and lemon posset. My friend wanted the fishcakes but they had already run out, so as she does not like goats cheese went for the pork terrine, which was terrible,then baked salmon and veg.Breakfast was basic fruits muesli and was a choice of eggs or porridge, again very
 tasty. No sausages
 bacon so font don't
 expect full English
 breakfast.  In all the spa
 and food were good rest
 was very disappointing.
 When you pay premium
 prices for the
 accommodation you
 expect premium
 facilities. Indulgence this place is not, we won't be
 returning.  



Old Friends weekend escape 

I stayed for a few days and what seemed like a great place has really let its clients down, I feel let down. Firstly I want to say the food was great ! I had a room with a great view, it was lovely and clean and the grounds are very well kept the treatments I had were amazing

Most staff members seemed lovely and friendly however one of the women on reception seemed very abrupt I believe she was also the manager? I would never imagine a manager to be that way in this line of work, It doesn’t leave the place feeling relaxed. On my last day staying at cedar falls there appeared to be a slanging match in the pool area between other guests who were swearing a lot ! 
upon walking into the clinic area I could see staff members laughing & never saw anyone really dealing with the situation as if it was a school playground this completely ruined my stay as I went from feeling relaxed to feeling very irked so thank you cedar falls. I book to stay at places like cedar falls to have a break away from my teenage children that do exactly that therefore I will not be back again. The only recommendation I have to make is that you encourage your staff members to help resolve situations between guests.
