The Rubens is a beautiful hotel perfectly located in the center of London. All of the staff at this hotel are very warm and friendly and made the experience very enjoyable. Mo was very friendly and instantly made us feel at home at this hotel. Our luggage had been lost and he made us feel better about the situation and immediately gave us some water and brightened up our mood.  We will definitely come back to stay at this hotel on our next trip to London!

Amazing Hotel in London!

Stayed here for the umpteenth time recently but thought I'd enter an updated review. Still as wonderful as ever. Lara and Ashley still brilliant. Had another lovely weekend and booked to return later in the year.

Lovely Hotel

Just returned from staying here room 202,could not fault the place,both the room and en-suite were really spotlessly clean,warm cosy room with comfy double bed,with bedding to standard,two large windows so plenty of daylight,plenty of power sockets,plenty of coat hangers as well even for a short stay,check in was very welcoming and smooth,would recommend this place,and will defiantly be returning

Valentines/birthday visit for my fiance

Lara and Ashley have got it right,lovely rooms,comfy beds,tv,tea/coffee,fabulous breakfast.Nice bar area,you don,t really need to go out.Discounted parking nearby.All entertainment very close by,but yet no noise around the hotel.Cannot recommend this place enough,been loads of times,and will certainly be going again.

trip to see a show

Only stopped for one night at the Rubens  hotel but left with new friends Laura and Ashley they could not do enough to help us,  We have stayed in a lot of Blackpool hotels and walked away saying that was a nice place but the Rubens surpasses them all for cleanliness. Lovely food, and a great friendly atmosphere a big thank you, Jim

First visit but defo not the last

Lovely clean and comfortable b and b, great breakfast, made to order and piping hot, good location, not too far from centre but far enough away to be quiet in the evening. Hosts were lovely, would not hesitate to recommend.

Great short break

First time staying here, chose it after looking at the TripAdvisor reviews.
Booking was easy, very nice people to deal with over the phone, so no problems there.

Arrival
Cannot remember if we asked about parking on the blower but there isn’t any with the hotel. There are free spaces along one side of the road outside but they are always full with other guests and residents of the street that probably know the ins and outs of everyone else’s parking habits. There is a big car park very nearby (Banks St. car park) but this is £12 for 24 hours but the hotel can give you a card for the same one for only £5 so that’s a bonus. There is a CCTV camera in the car park and it looks like it is busy. There were plenty of cars in there and we had no issues when we parked overnight, so happy to recommend it to others.
Arrived, organised car parking and booked in and the landlady even carried my bag up before I could get to it, I had to bring it back down though LOL.

Room
We stayed in 202 which is very small compared to a lot of rooms we have stayed in. There was no wardrobe just some hanging rails with hangers so that’s not too bad. Bathroom was also small and with a shower which when used can fluctuate in temperature slightly when others in the hotel are using the supply at the same time. It was bearable but got a bit hot instead of cold for some odd reason as usually the other way around.  The room had limited storage, just a couple of bedside tables with drawers and a shelf-cum-hanging rail for clothes.  There was one small shelf that had the kettle and cups (small tea cups rather that mugs or larger cups) and tea and coffee on but otherwise there is nowhere else to put anything down so just have to fill up the smaller spaces in the corners etc.
There were enough sockets for all out tech so that’s been looked into. Bed was firm and it has a sheet and a duvet which personally I don’t like but was warm and comfortable.
There was a small TV (had to be for the size of the room) which we didn’t use but am sure it worked ok. There was a booklet in the room giving you info on the hotel and it’s rules and amenities etc but it was in a drawer so we didn’t see it at first, which meant I had to use my mobile (as there is no phone in the room) and find the hotels external number to ring and find out the password for the free Wi-Fi.
The room was at the back of the building so the view was of another window of the hotel next door but that was to be expected because of the room we were staying in. It had a radiator so I am assuming during the winter can be turned off and on at will if you spend some time in there (and the heating is on of course)
Apart from those niggles the room was very clean and décor in good condition as was the bathroom.

Breakfast
It was nice and straight forward, some of the items are cooked then kept heated (You are asked if you want a cooked breakfast on the previous evening) so probably best to get down for the start time. The items were fine and cooked as expected, if a little dry due to pre-preparation. The table layout was excellent as well as availability of the sundries like orange juice and toast. Tea and coffee were free flowing. Best of all was the attentive but not overpowering service full marks for that in this day and age. etc. 09:30 -10:00 is an unusually small and late-ish window for breakfast, as most hotels around the area where clanking away with cutlery and plates and people eating breakfast earlier (I noticed this as I walked past them after checking on the cars in the Bank Street car park around 8 ish). 

Extras
Wi-Fi was available and worked fine after the above. It doesn’t require a web login so if you have an internet radio it will work fine. Signal was good and reliable. Plenty of shops nearby and the hotel is only 1 street away from the promenade and the trams.
There is a small bar in the lounge area where you can sit and relax and watch tv if you wanted to. Not sure on the bar prices as we didn’t have any drinks there. 

Overall
A very pleasant stay for the price, the only downside for us was the size of the room but if you’re on holiday you will only be sleeping in it generally and if you were staying for more than one night I am sure that they would be able to supply a bigger room on request. Service was excellent and cannot be faulted.
We discovered later that the area was the ‘gay’ quarter of Blackpool but the hotel and other guests couldn’t have been more welcoming.
Would we return…yes but for a bigger room.

We stayed as a party of 4; two couples for one night. Our visit to Blackpool was primarily to visit and dance in the Tower ballroom after recently joining a dancing class. We chose Rubens because of previous good reviews and because of location. 
The accommodation is lovely. We stayed in two top floor rooms. Comfortable beds, clean bed linen, lovely smelling towels, hot shower, tea making facilities, delicious cooked breakfast. There is parking nearby. We drove to Rubens 1st and dropped off luggage before receiving directions to a nearby car park and a discounted pass, reducing car parking from £12 to £5 for 24 hours. We dumped the car and walked everywhere. 2 minutes from accommodation to Funny Girls. 5 mins to Promenade. 10 mins max to Tower. 
We had such an enjoyable weekend and have already decided a trip to Blackpool should become an annual thing. We’ll certainly look to book at Rubens again. Thank you.
