My mum of 90 yrs  and husband and myself stayed over at the southview hotel in October and what a lovely friendly clean comfortable stay we had the staff were helpful and the complements have to go to the chef as the breakfast was amazing very hot plenty of choice and if anyone came out hungry that's there fault because there was always filling everything up we carnt wait to book our next stay

Hotel stay

We stayed here after an error with our original booking, the landlady was very welcoming and friendly. Got us checked in quickly and explained the parking situation for us which was very helpful.

The room we booked was a standard double and it done the trick for just sleeping in, however it was quite small with the TV above our heads which we found a bit odd. 

The shower was awkward to get in and out of and the doors didn't fully close meaning there was some water on the floor once we got out.

The decor is dated and the bedding did have some dirty marks on it, the bed felt quite small and made a noise every time you moved and wasn't the comfiest.

The location is great just up from the tower, but far away enough not to be right in amongst it. 

To be honest we still had the best time regardless of above so it couldn't of been that bad.

Pleasant stay

The only positive thing about this hotel is it's location.
On a bad note. When we arrived we couldn't get into a property, luckily the passers by let us in. When I called the lady, who answered and told her we can't get it, the impression I got from her- she wouldn't help us and we would be left struggling outside.
Our room was on the second floor, which is not ideal climbing up and down with a 4 year old, especially coming tired from town.
Our room was facing busy street with cars didn't wind down driving till 2am. There was small light coming from the corridor, which was switching off by itself around 1.30 am.
The double room, could not be called double. It is far too small for two people. Shower cubicle is tiny. After having a cold water running for ages, I went downstairs and told the landlady. She told, just to open and wait for it basically. Not good.
Shower cubicle dirty and dusty, some mould on the inside. Shower head falls out and you cant lift it to the required hight.
TV is put up on the wall on top of the wardrobe, which I found bizzarre.
Double bed is more suitable for a single occupancy. Bed duvet is too warm for hot summer days, thus makes uncomfortable to sleep.
Breakfast was pre cooked and microwave heated.
Landlady cool and reserved. I didn't find her friendly or welcoming.
Wi fi didn't work in a room and only seemed to pick up at the reception lounge.
Won't be back and do not recommend.

Don't waste your time and money!

Stayed 7 days at this hotel staff were lovely and breakfast was great and not far of the beach front .I did make breakfast twice as a had not taken my stomach  tablets when i was leaving the lovely lady wanted to give me money back for my 2 breakfast but did not take so lovely hope to see again soon Brian

Just back

We have stayed at this hotel on a few occasions, and always go back because the service and the quality of the breakfast food is very good. Despite the salt being damp.
Once booked in you're not bothered and left to enjoy your holiday in peace.
Breakfast is served from 8.30 to 9.15am.

The room we stayed in was room 12 on the second floor which if you have trouble climbing 
stairs this is not recommended. 
The decoration is looking tired and we couldn't get the extractor fan or heater to work in the toilet.

Dead insects are visible in the lamp shade in the bathroom and damp mould patches visible on the window walls.
The television located on the wall is a good idea but can only be viewed whilst standing up trying to watch it in bed is a no no.
The room itself is small but cozy, the bedroom light above the headboard was not working.
Noise can be heard even when the window is shut because it doesn't seal correctly.

The staff are very pleasant  and a big thank you goes to Gloria, one of the staff, for her politeness  and cleanliness  of the rooms.
On the whole  you do get what you pay for and it suits us to stay there again and in the future.
This review is in no way a criticism  but may help towards improvements. 


Southview hotel

Me and my partner fancied a two night break, with the added excitement of 'finding somewhere when we arrive', we found this hotel within ten minutes and felt very welcome straight away, a good sign. The deco a little out dated and the breakfast not fantastic (decent though), are the only downsides. Spotlessly clean, exceptionally friendly and my partner even got breakfast in bed, (never known that before), if you want a cheap getaway in a great location, I would recommend this place to anyone

Mini break

Found the Southview Hotel online and was simple to book, I was visiting with my 10yr old son. Owners were very warm, helpful and welcoming. Clean room with the very basics, mattress was very uncomfortable though, very soft and lumpy.  They need to buy a simple wifi booster so all rooms can get the internet . So simple and cheap to do. Good ( pre-ordered ) full English breakfast set us up nicely for our day exploring. Hotel is walking distance to the sea and attractions, for some places you can jump on a tram to visit. My son was poorly and the lady owner ( i guess ) even surprised my son with sweets for his throat, nice thought. Simple traditional B&B in a Great location.........

Half Term Break

We wanted somewhere to stay that wasn’t to expensive and within walking distance to The Grand Theatre as had an elderly aunt and a child with Down Syndrome so wanted somewhere close as was going to see Ken Dodd. After reading some of the reviews we wasn’t sure what to expect. Well we arrived to be welcomed by a very friendly landlady who couldn’t do enough for us. Our rooms were both clean, warm and comfortable. My auntie had a double room on first floor and we had a family room with a double and single bed on third floor. There was tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a tv. Beds were comfortable and good en suites. The dinning room is located in the basement even though the decor was a bit dated it was clean and well kept. Breakfast was included in the price which included cereal and a full English breakfast along with plentiful supply of toast, tea and coffee. The full English breakfast was cooked well and was egg,bacon, hash brown, sausage, tomato and beans. With our Son having Down Syndrome he can be a bit of a pickle sometimes but the landlady took time to engage with him and was lovely even when he knocked over and broke her sugar bowl. We stayed there for two nights and would definitely stay again next time we visit Blackpool. A huge thank you for really taking care of us and making us feel so welcome. 

Lovely friendly hotel in the center of Blackpool 

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights during October with our two young sons , we had a great time. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely blonde lady who was very chatty and friendly  ( sorry I didn’t get her name) we were given our car parking space, keys to our room. We had 2 double beds and I have to say the room was absolutely spotless as was the bathroom, plenty of warm water for showers and our room was very warm and cosy. We were offered room cleaning every day of our 4 day stay and were given fresh towels and toilet rolls. Location is fantastic just 10 min walk from tower . I honestly cannot fault this place. On departure the lovely blonde lady gave our two young sons a box of sweets each for our journey home back to Scotland this was so thoughtful and kind and very much appreciated so thanks again,! I would definitely recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back. So thank you landlords of Southview Hotel for making our stay great!
