We go to Blackpool like 10 times a year and has to be the worst hotel we have ever stayed in, walls falling apart, ceiling falling apart, rooms were disgusting, the place smelled awful, the shower was broken, held together with silicone, the toilet didn't even flush properly, beds uncomfy, seen the caretaker twice the whole time we were there, the drawers in the room were broken and had what looked like blood in them. Never again will I stay at this hotel, £170 for 3 nights, absolute rip off.

Awful and absolutely disgusting, never again!

This hotel is the worst that I have ever stayed in. The ceiling was mouldy with cracks/holes, the toilet and shower were terrible. Cupboards and beds were literally falling apart and the place had an overall musty smell. There was dust and mould everywhere not to mention the MOULDY PILLOW that my friend had slept on. There was no handle on the door and there was a fag butt on the floor when i entered the room. The whole place was falling apart and one of the only places open on the dodgy street. The whole vibe was off and had me scared every time i had to walk in. I didn't think to get any pictures at the time other than one.

Where to start? I didn't expect much from a 2 star BUT basic cleaning + maintenance cost very little! The manager (only staff member I saw) is nice enough but quickly distanced himself from owning the building stating "I just work here"? Because clearly he's  knows the crack and is used to people mentioning the following issues. We had booked a double room and on arrival said it was unavailable and he had given us an upgrade! (Laughable) we walked into Room 4 to find the oldest divan bed you've ever seen and a massive unmade bunk bed which dwarfed the room blocked half the window and blocked all the tiny tv from the rest of the room. On looking at the room in further detail it was horrendous! Ceiling above where you are supposed to hang your clothes ready to collapse and covered in mould. All the rooms drawers were absolutely filthy (we left our clothes in the suitcase) and the lock for the room door was split and hanging on! (We had to prop our case against it at night for security) shower was covered in black mould and really grimey. Room Carpet was stained burnt and nothing short of filthy dust/dirt/debris everywhere. 2 old dirty plastic mugs for tea/coffee which were long past binning. Bed Divan base SHOCKING (I've seen better in skips) ripped and dirty. Mattress stained and very uncomfortable hardly any sleep for the 2 nights we stayed (we literally stayed out all day to avoid the place) honestly don't think anything had been cleaned as the standards are shocking below hostel levels. Towels are brick hard/rough. Do not believe the photos on there website or any other booking site as they are very misleading/untrue and must be 10+ years old the true 100% reality is much much worse. Only positives is 2mins from beach and near Central pier. Free street parking if your lucky.

I can only be honest, firstly, the location is akin to a crack alley, the guy who greets you is pleasant and helpful, however, the positives stop there, musty smell, room like a cell, filthy looking bed/bedding and decor abysmal, I had to make my excuses and pleasantly returned the keys and found another place, to me the place is merely representative of what Blackpool has become as a resort ..tired, grubby, and seemingly now only catering for drunks and dropouts....sad.

Is a great guy! 

He went over and above, to provide me with -
coffee, tea, sugar, toilet rolls, even soap and shampoo (if you require). 

He has good local knowledge, is polite and down to earth.

He is good at guest management ,as, it was full, over the weekend and i didn't even know until he told me!
Proving his ability to create a comfortable atmosphere!
I didn't even hear anyone and my room is the closest to the downstairs area.
Loads of stuff nearby, multiple different food options (on foot), 

just eat and all big city food delivery options are available.
 
2 min walk to beach.

£rice is absolutely, a bargain, 
At under -- £20 per night--
In this day and age!
With the cost of living crisis

so yeah, bargain price!

Locals all friendly

Generally very welcoming area.

If you want to stay somewhere with a friendly, homely atmosphere.  
Near the beach and all amenities.
Is an absolute steal, Cost sense.

Honest Review

I went to Blackpool for the night with my best friend and my two girls (5 and 10) 
We had a lovely time, the hotel was close to the promenade and Blackpool tower and the pleasure beach so was in quite a central location, 
The hotel owner was very nice and friendly, the room was clean and tidy and had tea and coffee making facilities and the place was very good value for money. We felt comfortable and safe in the room and had everything we needed for the night, 

Very good value for money, lots to do close by, a basic budget hotel,

Went with 6yo daughter overnight for Blackpool pb and fireworks had a great stay lovely friendly staff worth the price comfy bed, toilet n bathroom seperatley but ensuite.  Would recommend. Would happily pay more if did breakfast there but don't do food, but overall couldn't fault.  Place clearly done up based on others reviews

Friendly and tidy

New Discovery hotel looks more like a hostel poor decorating, 12 plugs in 1 room is a fire hazard wires coming out the wall l, the place was dirty and disgusting, out the back was a mountain of bin bags

Disgusting place to stay

We had booked fo stay for 2 nights but left at 7am this morning after just 1 night. There is a horrid musty smell as soon as you go through the door.  We were shown to our room which was tiny but as we were only staying for 2 nights was fine. There was toothpaste in the sink from previous guests . The big problem came when we got in to bed..oh my word ! The cheapest mattress ever. You could literally feel every spring. I wouldnt expect my dog to sleep on that never mind paying guests ! The owner wasnt about when we left so we let ourselves out...and couldn't get out of the place fast enough.

Just awful

was NOT clean, dirty/stained walls, ripped wallpaper, holes in some of the walls, bathroom floor half ripped up,very dangerous for kids, funny smell in the whole place, dusty on every surface, stains stains and more stains, up walls, in drawers, on beds, dont dare look at the matteesses and divans if u dont want freaked out, coffee making facilities SHOCKING... no milk, dirty spoon, dirty cups. Totally run down and not looked after properly. No idea how anyone could rate it good! Unless its been taken over and ran into the ground since the good reviews were put on! Did not want to unpack as drawers were dirty and stained inside. I'd give this place a wide berth. Felt really sorry for the wee guy running it, he was clearly in over his head, he needs cleaners as he is obviously incapable of maintaining the place himself. The place needs a lot of repair work. He tried to be accommodating and let us check in later as we didnt arrive til late. As business owners ourselves we know how damaging a bad review can be so we havent left this review lightly but maybe it will give him the boost to get in some help and repair work done! It is situated a decent distance to everywhere, it is the only good thing i can say but its honestly unhygienic and falling apart. Looked at other reviews and he seems to have a lot to say to other people who have left bad reviews but its evident that there's a massive problem here if he constantly needs to try defend his residence.
