On the 24th November I travelled to Blackpool to attend the North West Labour Party conference.
I had booked to stay in a guest house on Palatine Road called Abbey Lodge. I chose it due to the great ratings and its 4 star rating.
I was a little flustered on arrival as my train had been delayed by 30 minutes, I was due to attend the Gala meal at 7pm and my train had arrived in Blackpool at 6:05pm; I had no makeup on, my hair was a mess, and I still had to get an Uber to the accommodation, do all of this and then get another Uber to Winter Gardens for the meal. 
When I arrived at the guest house at around 6:20pm, not only did the outside look nothing like the photos on Booking.com, but the entrance absolutely reeked of cannabis. 
There was no reception desk, and not a soul was around to greet me. After shouting “hello?” a few times, I decided to call the number provided on google - a mobile number that rang out 3 times, I was panicking even more now as I was running out of time, when suddenly a man - who was wearing ‘painter and decorator’ attire opened the guest house door and asked if I had been “seen to” - which I replied that I hadn’t. He lead me into like a ‘breakfast room’, and there was a piece of paper on a small bar with 3 names written on it. He asked me my name and crossed it off the list. 
Then he took me up a small flight of stairs to my room. 
I have never gotten ready for anything so quickly in my entire life, and when I went down, the stairs the owner of the guest house was there. 
A woman - who immediately tried to make a weird joke about the ‘painter and decorator’ guy wanting to find out if I was single, and I was pretty uncomfortable tbh. 
My Uber arrived, and I had a great night at the gala meal.
Fast forward to the morning after, and I went down the stairs to get myself some breakfast in the ‘breakfast room’. 
One of the first things I noticed was a huge TV on one of the walls playing GB news. 
I was pretty shocked that someone would willingly play this channel, in their business, but after making a quick tweet about my shock and eating some of the breakfast I was served - which was cooked and served to me by the woman who had made me feel uncomfortable the night prior - I got over it.
When I got up to leave for the conference,  the woman asked me what I had planned for my weekend. 
I told her (which in hindsight I regret) that I was attending the Labour Party conference and she immediately said “EUGHHH NOT LABOUR” - and pulled her face. I thought “here we go 🙄”
She proceeded “well we’re voting for Reform in this house, because we voted for Brexit and we hate immigrants”. 
My jaw almost dropped to the floor, and my anxiety levels went through the roof. 
She then went on complaining about Muslims in hotels and Muslim grooming gangs, Which I tried to explain to her that there are more white grooming gangs than any other race, but she actually said “bullsh*t” in response. 
I didn’t have time to explain to her how wrong she was, as I still wanted to get myself a coffee before the conference started. And I also didn’t feel very comfortable- being a lone woman and having to return there that evening after the conference that day. 
She continued however, with one of the worst things anyone has ever said to me which was that “the protests at the cenotaph should’ve been banned” and that she wants to see Palestine nuked by Israel, and flattened to the ground. She said that there’s no difference between Hamas and any other Palestinian. 

I had to leave, it was one of the most uncomfortable moments of my life. She then said that she had spoken to my mum on the phone - because my mum wanted information about parking her car - Mum was coming that evening to attend the conference on the Sunday. 
She then tried to make another joke about sticking Reform stickers all over my mum’s car. 
Anyway, I met with my mum near Winter Gardens after the conference before we went back to the guest house ‘as late as possible’. To avoid the owner of the guest house.
I chose to opt out of breakfast the day after. I was worried they might sabotage it or something. So yeah, don’t stay at the Abbey Lodge if you don’t want to talk about nuking Palestine and hating immigrants.

Best Christmas for years
Honestly cannot find anything negative to say
We were welcomed like old friends by Paul and Michelle and helped to our rooms which were lovely : clean, warm with toiletries and bottled water.
The bar/ dining area was a constant hive of activity with guests all becoming friends over drinks with music playing in the background.
The breakfast was gorgeous- definitely try the sausages as they are divine.
We were spoiled over the whole xmas with a Christmas lunch ( we had prebooked elsewhere so missed this) buffet on boxing day, pots of tea available anytime you wanted and Michelle and Paul went out of their way to ensure everyone was happy.

Best Christmas for years

Booked a last minute night away at Abbey Lodge and could not be any more impressed. 
Michelle is amazingly friendly, very accommodating and really cannot do enough for you. 
The room was fresh, bright and clean and lovely and warm when we got back to our room in the early hours. 
Breakfast was superb and bless Michelle she got some veggie sausages especially for us which was lovely of her. The breakfast was fit for a king. 
We had a bad experience a couple of weeks ago in a hotel on the same road, but our stay at Abbey Lodge more than made up for it.

Superb

Very clean and well maintained, very good host and fantastic breakfast with large portion of quality ingredients. 
Rooms en-suite and vary in sizes but all spotless. I would Definitely recommend this B&B

Lovely warm welcome

Booked for 1 night stay with family through booking.com after reading some fantastic reviews. 
Arrived to a very nice welcome from the owner. Rooms where pretty spacious and clean but found they could have been cleaner ( long hairs on the floor )  the bed was very comfy. I found some things could do with a little attention/tlc and added bits  ( didn't find the most expensive room worth the money )
Bathroom needed a bath mat as floor was slippy after a shower. 
No info about the hotel in the rooms
Or info on how to work the TV 
Breakfast was good , choice  of ceareal, toast and a full English.  Disappointed they don't fry eggs tho? Would have liked a choice of egg but that's just my opionon also the tomato sausage was lovely tho. 
 I would stay here again  but I Defo think the plVe could do with a few tweaks here and there. 



One Niight Stay

Stayed at this B+B for one night in August, the room was adequate and spacious, cracking little shower. Nice breakfast, plenty of choice, cereal, toast, full English as well. The owner was really welcoming too. 5 mins from all the pubs in north shore. Recommend anyone to stay here. Would definitely book again!

Lovely B+B!

Not a bad hotel the owners are super friendly and welcoming. Rooms are clean, beds are super comfy too. Breakfast was nice too.

Just needs a few tweaks in our opinion, better curtains or blinds as it let all the light in really early in the morning.  Some bits are a little bit scruffy needs a bit more TLC and no bar set up for customers use, also some tables and chairs on the front would have been nice.

Overall not bad for the pice :-)

An enjoyable stay

Great little B&B. Lovely and clean in bedroom and bathroom.  Run by a nice group of people who were always keen to ensure you were ok.  They did pizzas in an evening and whilst we didn’t have one it’s an option.  Breakfast was great.  Full English plus cereal and toast if you want it.  Good location. Only an hours parking on road up to 6pm Saturday night but unrestricted after that. Close to centre but far enough out to not be noisy.  Kettle and ample tea and coffee in rooms.  Towels and bedding smelt lovely too.  Will use this again.

Great place to stay- will use again

We had a fab stay in the Abbey Lodge, best sleep iv had in ages we stayed in the Rowan room and I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. The Owners were so lovely, welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us and top it off breakfast was amazing. We will be back again in the new year.
