Disgusting owners who refuse to give any belongings back that you may have left. Never answer any calls and are just downright rude. They should be struck off - if they are actually above board. The rooms and decor are awful.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL 

We booked this through booking .com and paid 125 for the 3 nights non refundable as my partner wasn’t well we tried to cancell or move the dates the horrid lady boy who phoned me was a vile specimen of a woman who screamed down the phone at me am I a man or a mouse and she is keeping my money and I can’t do nothing about it I reported her to booking .com and because she is that much of a clown she also said to them I am not welcome and I am not having my money back well what a stupid move that was I was instantly refunded by booking .com and gave a lovely hotel with no prison rules stuck all over the place we did go past this said establishment and TBf I wouldn’t of stayed there anyway it looks run down and dirty from the outside so looks like we had a lucky escape

I'd seen some of the recent reviews for the Melrose and was hesitant to book. However they had a family room which would house the five members of my clan and were walking distance from the seafront so I bit the bullet and booked.

To be honest I'm not sure what the issues are that some people have complained about. The owners were incredibly friendly and accommodating and they offered advice on things to do whilst we were in Blackpool.

Yes tye room was small but I wasn't expecting an executive suite or anything like that, the hotel was simply a base to dump out stuff whilst we were out and it served that purpose perfectly.

The beds were functional though I found it a little uncomfortable, I did however manage to sleep so no complaints there either.

All in all I'd say that if anyone had any issues with the hotel then maybe they're the problem as I saw none of the problems that other reviews have complained about.

Does what it says on the tin 

Just back from 2 nights on a family break with young children. Host was very friendly and helpful and made a fuss of the children, even giving them some sweets. 
Room was a little small but perfectly functional and great value. Everywhere was clean and beds comfortable. 
Shame there is no breakfast option but only a few minutes from the centre of town so wasn’t an issue. 
We enjoyed our stay and would happily stay here again!

Clean and functional, host welcoming

Let’s start with the positives. Great location. Just a five minute walk to Coral Island and the sea front. 

Now… the hotel is in need of a revamp. The bed was uncomfortable. The en-suite was “compact”.

We had a lovely time in Blackpool, but we only slept and showered in the Melrose as the room was quite small.

Ok for a couple of nights

Awful!  I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless you would like to be treat with zero respect. First of all we arrived we were met by a women who was helpful and kind to us. Shorty my after the hotel owner had came and stated we needed to pay her a £60 damage fee which was not mentioned prior to booking. The hotel owner would also change prices. The car parking was originally £10/night then to another person it was £8/night this was also not stated when booking the hotel. The rooms were outdated, dirty, small and uncomfortable one pillow each and the beds would creek every time u moved. I understand it’s a cheap hotel but that should not affect the mannerisms of the staff. Signs all over saying no food, no drink and all about fines. Not a welcoming atmosphere. The hotel owner took photos of me and my group with her phone without our consent. When we had left the hotel she came outside with a bed sheet and was screaming across the street about how we had “peed the bed” it was water and she had already charged us £10 for the replacement of it which we payed her. The hotel neighbours came out and explained that the women is always like this with her guests. I would never stay here again and I don’t recommend booking this hotel it’s not worth the money. Absolutely awful all in all staff and facilities. After we arrived home from the trip I had a message demanding to pay an extra £30 for the damage. I rang them up and explained I already paid her the money she wanted. Honestly do not stay here it is terrible. 

Absolutely terrible

I am still very frustrated with the facilities, service and attitude of owners with this hotel.
We arrived at 3pm having prebooked a parking spot with then. The parking spot was taken and they spent 45 minutes trying to sort me a spot which ended up being the hotel across the road. We had intended on parking the car and going into town drinking but we were told we would need to return when they called us to move the car into their spot!
We have a few drinks and lunch at the Barrons Hotel down the road (highly recommended) until we could move the car back.
After 2 hours we got a call demanding us to move the car, so we went back to the hotel.
We then got to check in!!! The room was on the top floor, no room keys just a digilock on the door which they text us the code to. On the way (on the third floor) there was a guy sat in the corridor eating his dinner who we had to step over, couldn't use the bannister as there was washing all over the place on that floor. 
Eventually got to our room, the "ensuite" was so small that my legs were in the shower tray just sitting on the toilet. I should have brought some binoculars in to see the tiny TV on the wall from the bed and the bed itself was tiny and very uncomfortable. 
We managed to get out and enjoy Blackpool, thinking that maybe, given the trouble so far we wouldn't be charged for the parking spot. We got a text message about 9pm telling us that we still needed to pay for it when we returned that night!!
We got back in about 9.30pm, paid the parking charge and went to bed, unknown to us the other 2 rooms on the 4th floor were 1 family and as such came in late.and were shouting to each other all night! At 6am we were both still awake with very little sleep we left the hotel!
We sat on the beach front extremely tired until 8am when we managed to get some breakfast, then drove home.
When we got home I decided to do a quick Google review, I didn't mention half of the issues I had and just wanted to inform people of the size of the room and the issues on the 3rd floor. I got accused of being fussy and a lyer by the owner! This hotel ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend away for me and my wife, but the hotel owner doesn't care. I appreciate that it is a budget hotel, however I don't  expect, being initially delayed to park the car, then interrupted to move it and finally being unable to sleep in the room good value for money regardless of the price! I expect the owner to reply accusing me of lying again, however this review is completely true. Do not book, EVER! If we go back we will use the hotel we were forced to go to due to the lack of services in ours.


Awfull

The host Marisa was really bubbly & helpful, when she noticed my husband had mobility issues she moved us to a different room & carried our bags . Upon entering you were hit with loads of laminated signs of do’s & dont’s too many to read !!Our room was tiny & dated but had everything we needed , it was lovely & clean . No breakfast available but we was aware of this .Very good location however we wouldn’t stay again as the mattress was really really uncomfortable

Great host good location

My friend and I stayed their on Friday evening for a Music event on the Promenade. Only 8 minutes walk. 
Owner greeted us and was friendly and helpful.  
She gave us the code for the doors so we could come and go as we pleased.  
We had a small twin room in the top floor which was only £40 for the room on Booking.com. 
The B n b is on a main road but I slept well. I never even felt the springs on the bed until the next morning.  (A few vodkas that night might have helped)
Plenty hot water for the shower but if you are fuller figured it will be a tight squeeze. 
TV and kettle in the room with tea and coffee sachets. 
No wardrobe but their was a few hangers on a little ledge above one of the beds. 
Breakfast not included but plenty cafes and always a Wetherspoons nearby. 
I would stay again overnight.

Cheap and Cheerful

For the price you can’t go wrong , I pay £30 pound for a one night for two locations is amazing only a few minute walk from the Blackpool tower 

You have to give a £20 deposit which I didn’t know bout until I got too the hotel 

The room was clean and with it own en-suite the power supply was a bit odd as it’s was a The plugs sockets were a cable extension rolled up

I had a very good nite sleep, I would choose again if I was going back , it was very good at the price
