The best hotel I have ever stayed at, it’s almost an “experience” we loved it! We stayed with our dog for business and I loved everything from the owners, food, decor and gardens to the homely feeling and honesty bar with professional and a unique service. I couldn’t recommend this beautiful place more.

Wonderful!!!

Had two night Dinner, Bed and breakfast stay in November2023. Graham and Karen were excellent hosts. Graham coming up with a good suggestion to have a trip up Glen Esk at Edzell (weather was a bit frosty but Glen was well worth viewing). Room was clean, spacious and bed was very comfortable. Dinner each evening was excellent and breakfast had a good choice of food. Eggs were fresh as they have their own hens. Would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Excellent stay and hosts

Everything about this guest house is perfect. The quality of the building, furnishings, fitments and decor is exceptional with obviously a great attention to detail. All the public rooms and my bedroom (I obviously can’t speak for the others) were immaculate with well chosen artwork on the walls. It is spotlessly clean and the hosts very friendly and welcoming. And the breakfast was faultless, with good quality ingredients served in a lovely room overlooking the garden. It was exceptional value for money given the quality of the place. I travelled solo for only one night but some time hope to return for longer.

Perfect hospitality 

This place was incredible down to the last detail.  We were traveling through Scotland, and we were lucky that there was a last minute opening the night of our stay.  Karen & Graham greeted us as soon as we arrived and showed us around.  I wish we had stayed here a few more days.  The beds are comfortable, the place is clean and very well decorated, the hospitality is just outstanding.  They have a bar setup in one of the rooms with music, which was a perfect way for us to wind down after a crazy travel day.  The breakfast in the morning was one of the best meals we had in Scotland.  The price of the stay was extremely reasonable for the 5 star experience we received.

Wonderful experience.

Booked 3 rooms whilst we we were on a 5 day motorcycle tour of Scotland. 
The accommodation was outstanding, perfectly situated with great safe parking for our bikes. 
We booked an evening meal which again just perfect as was breakfast the following morning and high up there with some of the top restaurants I’ve eaten at. 
The decor throughout is beautifully presented with great taste and flair.
The hosts were great and clearly passionate about what they do and the service they offer. 
Rooms were fab and had everything one needed. 
So if ever travelling this way,  this place is an absolute must. 
Honestly check the place out before you go booking expensive hotels. 
You will not be disappointed. 

Now couple of little niggles which we feel needs noting as it’s upset my 2 comrades slightly… 
1) We didn’t know we couldn’t bring and drink a beer so we were quickly told off before we pulled the ring pull , appreciate their rules so we naturally obliged but as the house lounge was empty of guests and we had just done 11 hours on a motorcycle you’d have thought an exception would have been made but heyho their rules are rules but maybe it would have been a nice gesture to explain and bring us a glass and even join us for one especially knowing we couldn’t continue on bikes with 8 cans beer, However we happily donated them to an old chap walking up the road from the shop next morning . 
2) No fault of the owners as these things happen but we had no hot water or heating due to boiler issues so we couldn’t shower but we’re a little surprised at checkout that a token discount wasn’t offered to us for the inconvenience albeit an apology was made but a good shower before the next 10+ hours riding would have been good . 
We were very kindly offered the use of their personal bathroom but we had already packed the bikes up and about to leave.

Exceptional

Beautifully presented guest house with a beautiful garden that is more like a boutique hotel . We didn't stay for dinner but the breakfast was excellent as was the service from the husband and wife team. Would highly recommend as a place to stay while exploring the area .

Boutique guest house 

We had the most wonderful stay in this amazing guest house. It is decorated to an exceptional standard by the very talented Karen with really interesting artwork which we enjoyed finding out more about by Graham. Our room was stunning, extremely spacious with the biggest bed I have ever slept in. The room we sat in for breakfast had a super view of the beautiful garden. The breakfast made by Karen was delicious, home made jams and granola were nice touches adding to the special feel of the house. Karen and Graham are lovely caring hosts who go out of their way to make their guests stay extra special. We feel very lucky to have stayed and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tigh Na Leigh, what a wonderful experience. 

Very special guest house

We had marvelous time in Scotland. This was the first time we went to this country. Better Places recommended this B&B and they were absolutely right. The room was  luxurious and tidy. Twice we had breakfast and once dinner. Both were experiencing and perfect. And the guys who made this experience real were super hospitable. One time at the end of the day we sat in the garden and the host brought us a glass of wine in the sunshine. Perfect. We will never forget this trip and specially remember this B&B. Thanks and  if I might say, share our experience.

Superb hospitality

Definitely the best accommodation we had during our 2 weeks trip in Scotland.
Astonishing decoration, need to be seen.
The room was lovely and the bed extremely comfy. 
Graham was a lovely host, we had time to exchange on the paintings around the house and he recommended great places to visits.
Breakfast & dinners were super tasty.
Do not hesitate.

Beautiful experience 

Having stayed here for one night with my husband while travelling for business we can not rave about this place higher. 

We arrived a little later than expected (Roughly 8pm) and were promptly welcomed by our host (Graham) who was extremely engaging and told us a little history of the guest house and gave us a little tour, I was offered a G&T from the mini bar located in one of the beautifully decorated living rooms & asked if we would like breakfast at 8am or 9am. (We chose 9am) 

We were showed to our room which was spacious with a newly refurbished en suite with shower (I would have preferred a bath but I didn’t state this, maybe next time I can pop in a request in and I’m sure we would be accommodated) 

My husband had the best nights sleep he has in a very long time and I found the bed very comfortable. We had a little nosy around and I had to take some videos and pictures as the place was just so beautiful. 

We went for breakfast at 8:45am and were given a breakfast menu to choose not only our meal but a selection of starters and coffee, tea and juice. My husband had Tea and a selection of toasted bread which came with Karen’s home made Jam, butter and marmalade which I chose to share (There was plenty) & I had a coffee. For mains I chose eggs Benedict which was perfect and my husband had a full Scottish breakfast (Haggis was a new one for him) the chap dining next to us was eating brioche French toast with crispy bacon and maple syrup which I will absolutely be trying next time! 

Every piece of artwork at the guesthouse has a story and is chosen perfectly for the property. 

We had a wonder around the garden after breakfast to see the pond, plants, veg patch and up and coming chicken corner- no doubt for fresh free range eggs for the wonderful breakfast that was included in the price!

It felt like we were staying at home from home and we will absolutely be making an excuse to go back again. 

The only negative i have to say it that I will now have to redecorate my entire home as I was overwhelmed by fantastic ideas and beautiful artwork that I feel inspired to make some bold changes in my own home!
