lovely breakfst, nice quality and was hot when it did come out. was bizzy tho so wait was expected b ut enjoyed very much. will go and try rest of menu as it did sound nice and different to molst menus seen out and about so will give ourselfs more time next visit

Every time I come to this place I am never disappointed . 
Brilliant food with good service 
Choice is limited and changed on a regular basis. You know you are not going to be disappointed.

Brilliant experience 

From walking in, you didn't get the warm reaction that was expected from the girl behind the bar.
We were seated in the restaurant which seemed disjointed from the main bar where the locals were drinking. 
The staff didn't smile throughout and there were no pleases or Thank-yous.
The food was absolutely delicious and again the quality and menu were not in line with the feel of the place.
We did have to send a dessert back as it didn't taste quite right even though they said it was meant to taste like that.
When it came to paying, the male staff member who looked like a scruffy manager just came over and presented the card machine with no conversation or checking that we had enjoyed our meal.
The feel of the place and the attitude of the staff really dampened the enjoyment of the overall experience.

Service was terrible!

It was actually March 2022 when we first ate here (other than pizza outside) Peter is a great host who works hard to provide the best! We went with a party of friends (our wedding breakfast) and even today I still get people telling me it was the best food and ambiance they have ever known at a wedding. The place is not massive, your not going to seat 150! The only negative thing I have ever heard for the place is they book up quick, so get booked ASAP.

Did us proud!

Had a wonderful lunch with friends at The Black Bull.
We shared some delicious small plates which were on a 4 for 3 deal, followed by sandwiches and lots of chips! The ploughman’s and beetroot salad were exceptional! 
We were a bit of an awkward table, making changes to the dishes and ordering things that weren’t on the menu but the waitresses that served us were fantastic and we all commented that this was the best service we had received for quite a while.
I must mention that some of our “awkward” requests were due to the lack of vegan options on the menu. The kitchen did offer some options not on the menu but you might want to check beforehand if you have a vegan in your party.
Lovely afternoon and will be back soon for one of their delicious roast dinners.

Lovely Lunch

Looking for a place to stay for a group of 4 playing golf around the Mansfield area (Coxmoor, Sherwood Forest and Hollinwell), we discovered this really great B&B in Blidworth, The Black Bull. 

4 rooms at just £75 per person per night with an excellent English breakfast, the stay here was a delight. Add to this a very popular real ale bar area and a great restaurant and in our opinion, there is nothing else you could ask for. 

We would certainly recommend it to any small group of golfers visiting the area. Elaine the host was excellent.

Great Golfing Accommodation in the East Midlands.

Nice pub with very adequate rooms. Well looked after by staff. Four of us on a golf trip in two separate rooms. Breakfast good. Other meals choices bit limited but I think freshly prepared. Would stay again. Good location for top golf courses in area.

Friday night and we were hoping for the pizza but it was not available so we settled for the home made burger and beef dripping chips. WOW. Rivals my husbands for the best burger ever and the chips……. The best chips in the world. 
We also had breakfast Saturday and Sunday.  The full English hits the spot. Tasty sausages, perfectly cooked black pudding and the most amazing hash browns I’ve ever had. The eggs Benedict was one of the best I’ve had and very generous too.
Definitely recommend.

Fabulous food

Visited with friends and the service was friendly and attentive. The food was all tasty and good value for what we had. The scotch egg starter was great albeit substantial for a starter. Our friend had the steak which was perfectly cooked medium rare with excellent chips. The vegetarian food was also well enjoyed.

Good food and very good value

My friend Jo and I stayed here last weekend as we were going to a party in the next village. I must admit I have stayed in high class places before and this place came up there with them.
From booking our stay to leaving, we couldn’t have had better service, the staff are extremely helpful, the rooms are clean and airy, the bed enormous and comfy, and the breakfast was delicious, all locally sourced food.
We cant thank Elaine and her staff enough for making our stay so memorable. Both Jo and I have said we will make it an annual trip even if there isn’t a party to go to.
