The Dolphins Hotel Bournemouth

A small hotel, privately owned and managed by a very helpful and obliging couple, Miles and Lena, who have been there 20 years. The location is good being just up the hill from the Square and all the eateries situated there and just a few minutes walk from the BIC, the Pleasure Gardens, Pier and the beach. My room was clean and with a comfortable bed but basic (only soap supplied- no other toiletries) but it suited me fine. There are other options besides the Full English if a lighter breakfast is requested, served in the hotel's basement.
Instead of a bedside table there was a bedside fridge which worked and was actually useful in my ground floor room. The shower was straight forward to work and it worked well but the flow could have been greater but it was perfectly adequate and of reasonable size and we are encouraged to save water when possible! There was no hair dryer, but probably available on request, nor a shaver point. I was very glad that cushions had NOT been placed on the bed pillows as is common in hotel rooms these days and which I think is unhygienic as I expect they get dumped on the floor. I had a very enjoyable stay and will definitely return to The Dolphins when I next go to Bournemouth. In addition there is limited on site car parking with an EV charging point.

Basic but just what was needed in an ideal location.

Our room was on the ground floor of the hotel and had everything we needed.  The ONLY thing missing was a hand towel but Miles explained the challenges they'd experienced with these "walking" so I fully get why they no longer provide.  We were only there for 2 nights so using our own bath towels really wasn't a problem.  

The room was clean and the beds comfortable.  A small fridge ensured our bottles of fizz stayed nicely chilled. 

Breakfast was really lovely and Miles and Lena will provide whatever you want with reasonable notice.  Full English on day one and I went for poached eggs with mushrooms and tomatoes on our second day.  Fresh coffee, plenty of toast and a choice of jams/marmalades.  

We were able to park on the forecourt which was an added bonus but we appreciated that it may not have been available.  They have space for three cars.

Breakfast was wonderful so pay the extra - you won't be disappointed!

Warm welcome from the owner and a very comfortable overnight stay! Really good location just outside town but also still very easy to get about and access what you need to. Single room, basic but well appointed, clean & comfortable and overall well worth the very reasonable price paid! Would definitely stay here again and recommend.

A Real Gem!

Wow can't believe what they charge for a room in Bournemouth  very expensive they charge up to £300 a night for a single in some hotels absolutely no chance paying that  thought I would give the Dolphin a go see what they charge met by the proprietor first impression fair not greedy she said she had no singles but could do a double room for single occupancy fair enough what she quoted me for the stay was fantastic  just can't get over hotels charging £300 a night for single occupancy the same room in the winter £35 a night 😆😆

Clean double room for single occupancy 

A comfortable stay, clean accommodation. Friendly hosts family owned and run. Pets are allowed with prior permission. Fridge, tea, coffee in the room. Walking distance to the beach and coffee, shopping etc very convenient in that aspect. Parking is on street or in car park.

A comfortable visit

The stay at Dolphins hotel was very pleasurable, we were made to feel very welcome. Location near to shops, very comfortable beds, clean room and large shower. Parking on site, two keys issued for each room in case our group split up for the night. I stayed in the ground floor room with the bay window looking out to street which was extremely quiet. We were welcomed into our rooms early so we could spend the day in Bournemouth. I would definitely recommend.

Great location, friendly and very helpful

We decided to stay at this hotel because it had a great price. Being a 3 star hotel it is basic, but with the added benefit of a good sized fridge in the room. The area is quite quiet, and not fat from town centre or beach attractions.
We were welcomed by the owner who helped us park the car - parking is rather limited - and carried a suitcase to our room for us. I haven't had that sort of service in 4 or 5 star hotels.
We didn't sample breakfast there making our own arrangements.

A budget short stay

The hotel was very reasonable. The location was perfect 5 minutes from the beach. There was parking. The proprietors were super. It was spotless. Breakfast was delicious. You really couldn’t ask for more.
The complimentary tea bags and soap were good quality. The bathroom was lovely. Little touches that add to your stay.

Perfect little hotel in a very convenient location

Lovely, friendly, clean hotel perfect location near Bournemouth centre and Beach front. Very family and dog friendly. 
Lovely couple who own the business, they couldn’t be more accommodating. Beautiful cooked full English breakfast in the morning. 
Room was perfect for our family, our two boys throughly enjoyed sleeping in bunk beds again. Lovely en suite shower room too.

Lovely, family/dog friendly hotel very close to centre and beachfront

Good for family to stay but we felt little discomfort in the double bed otherwise everything is neat and clean. This was run by an individual for last 17 years and they are very friendly.  Very close to the shopping and 15 min walkable distance to beach.
