Literally booked 4 hrs before we arrived - the lady on the other end of the phone was very pleasant and helpful.

We arrived about 9:30pm and followed the self checking in routine that was on our booking email. Essentially a key safe in the porch - which worked fine.

Could not park anywhere close by, which was one of my concerns when booking. I have a new converted fishing wagon and I’m obsessed with not leaving it “out”.

Not a lot of off road parking and in the end we had to park on the road, quite a walk away and keep my fingers crossed it would not attract unwelcome attention.

Went up to the 2nd floor and found our room - a little snug due to the eaves detail of the roof, but perfectly clean and habitable.

A few minor downsides :

On the booking in Email, it mentioned that the Wi-fi details would be in our key envelope, but we could not see these. At almost 10pm, it felt too late to go and ask. My son, like all teenagers, was like a cat on a hot tin without internet connectivity.

The pillow on each bed was very small and there were no spare pillows in the wardrobe. My son and I both had to build up the pillow using bed linen, towels and our jackets. 

The water pressure to the top floor was very low. The shower was the type that runs off the bath taps and as such it was very hard to get a stable temperature / decent flow, but it did work. 

A perfect nights sleep. Not noisy at all.

We had to leave early for my sons competition and as such we were too early for the breakfast sitting. Not an issue as this had been explained to us at booking in.

3 stars seems mean, but the rating for 4 stars is very good.

Not quite 4 stars, but probably a decent 3.5

Last minute booking

David and Vicky, many thanks for a very comfortable stay. (Again!) We've had a most enjoyable time. A breakfast to die for, set us up for the day. 10 minute stroll to the beach and ideally situated to explore the surrounding area. Hope to see you again sometime soon.

Very nice, well looked  clean family hotel. Very welcoming and in a gyreat location, Vicky and david cant do enough for you with excellent breakfast every day. Kids loved it. Thank you for a memorable holiday

Top family hotel

The Wyvern is only 30 minutes from our house but we decided to celebrate my birthday weekend there. The girl at the entry was nice a d friendly every time we passed. Chris and others at the bars were always friendly and attentive to any questions or requests. The room was spacious with nice view of the Marina. The housekeeper was very courteous and did excellent job considering we travelled with both our service dogs. The hotel is walking distance to many bars and restaurants. Great stay!

Nice Staycation

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Wyvern. Our host's Vicky and Dave were exceptional and couldn't do enough to make us feel more at home and recommended some great places to eat and good walks and trails. The hotel was very clean and provided excellent cooked to order breakfast every morning. The bed's were comfy and the shower had ample room. We look forward to returning !
