My wife and I stayed for 3 days . Anthony the manager and head chef gave a lovely warm greeting and proved good fun throughout.  Adam the chef and breakfast maestro gave us an early feast that lasted all day.
Service from all was lovely and friendly.
Food was delicious and our split level suite very nice,very quirky.

Gastro Delight

My wife and I stayed at the George from the 19th September 2023 for 3 nights. The hotel is situated in a very quite area , the staff and the food was excellent, nothing was to much trouble . The room was well furnished, clean and tidy. Would definitely stay again if in the area.   

 Excellent for food and accommodation 

Went out for a meal with friends, warm greeting on arrival ,quite busy , I ordered cauliflower soup , and pork belly , best meal out I have had in a long time , all served hot ( lukewarm food is my biggest bugbear) the rest had smoked salmon and beef wellington which they all said was as equally delicious. Average priced .Will definitely be going again

Best meal out in a long time

Just went for a walk round Wooley village, it started raining we were just passing the George and decided to shelter inside with a warm drink. We went into the entrance to the bar area, several staff members were clustered round the bar. We gave a cheery hello to be met with total silence. We were completely ignored except for one man who just looked us up and down and went back to his conversation. We are pensioners and well dressed so don't understand their hostility. Maybe it's the new management, but it needs fixing.

No hospitality at the George

We were given a very warm welcome & served a drink to enjoy. whilst perusing the menu. One of our party has a dairy intolerance. but this did not cause any problem & suitable amendments to the menu or alternatives were quickly given. The food was absolutely delicious & was a great quantity - not too much, but plenty to fill full & very satisfied.
The decor is very charming & cosy. The staff are very friendly but not intrusive/ Overall a very lovely meal & evening.

Fabulous food, warm ambience, what more do you want . . . . .

On our way home from our second visit and it was just as enjoyable as our first!  The accommodation, food (breakfast and dinner) and service are all simply outstanding and everyone is helpful and friendly. I would thoroughly recommend a visit if you are in the area and we will certainly return in the future

Another fabulous stay

A very friendly welcome to a lovely cosy pub /restaurant. Great selection of beers and wine with a super menu. The food was excellent with good service. 
Would thoroughly recommend. The calves liver was excellent as was the pork belly.

Dinner visit

Beautiful and spacious away from home accommodation.  A bedroom and upstairs lounge with really good views and your own kitchenette.  Lovely place to stay for a few days.  The food in the restaurant was excellent, but do remember to book as it is difficult to get in.

Home away from home

What an amazing pub , with fantastic service particularly from the assistant manager,  fabulous food,  and the room was excellent.  We stayed for two nights in the attic suite,  a lovely bedroom with separate kitchen and dining room.  Very rarely do you have a stay in a hotel where everything is just perfect,  but this was one of those breaks away. The service was just brilliant the assistant manager could not of been more friendly and professional, making polite conversations with us. We ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was superb also the breakfast.  I would definitely recommend this hotel for a few days away or just to eat at.

Amazing from arriving

We happened upon this pub on our way home, both my husband and I were feeling peckish, didn't expect too much for this country pub. How wrong we were! The food was superb, succulent steaks and delicious desserts; friendly with a lovely welcoming atmosphere. We could have sat there for the rest of the evening, reluctant to leave and continue our journey. What a super find, will definitely return.
