Good amount of parking. Room was a large size.

The carpet in the room was very old and had many large stains. The double bed was two singles pushed together, making a hard line down the centre of the bed. The bay window overlooked the pub's patio / smoking area, so the room almost continuously stank of stale smoke. The bathroom was so small I could barely sit on the toilet, and I'm not even tall! The bathroom floor was dirty and the shower had someone else's leftover shower gel bottle in it, as well as a broken soap dispensers (sharp metal contraption left on the wall). The pub food is overpriced for very basic food. With only a few customers present, they forgot about my dessert which I then had to chase 40 minutes later. 2 out of 3 mornings there was no one available when I arrived for breakfast- the lady was sat outside smoking. This is very basic accommodation, but the price wasn't even the cheapest around.

Dirty uncomfortable room.

Ample parking. Great location to come off & rejoin the M5. Room clean. Excellent bathroom. Very comfortable bed. Only stayed one night to meet up with family members on our return home from Cornwall to Scotland. Would certainly stay here again.

Great place to stay..........

Don't book a table from 2.30 onwards as the carvery was very disappointing!!
There was no beef,the stuffing had dried out,I asked if there was any more cauliflower cheese and was told it had run out!!
Most of the veg had been stood under the heat too long and we had to search for more gravy as the chef had vanished.The waitresses and bar staff were very good but I don't think the guy on the carvery could care less!!
Id recommend the staff advising against the carvery if everything had run out or been stood to long!! 
Id have had something cooked off the menu!!
Shan't be returning!!

Disappointing

When I arrived there was some confusion with checking me in, even though I had used the online tool to check in in advance. I had also pre booked to have dinner, and was able to have this earlier than the time I had booked for, so that was great. The food I ordered was really nice and the service was good. However, it did say on the website that if you booked direct with them, you automatically got 20% off your food bill, but I realised later that I hadn't been given a 20% discount for my meal. The room I was staying in  looked very tired in appearance and could do with a new carpet and a paint.  The bathroom needed new lino and had some mould too. The shower water pressure was good  and overall the bathroom was clean. The bed was also quite comfy. 
Breakfast was a bit of a disaster, as there wasn't any staff, except the young lady who was running the place. She had lots to do and so breakfast service was all a bit strange and a somewhat non event. She gave me a complimentary drink,but after waiting a while and nothing happening and needing to get on my way, I ran out of time to wait and had n option but to  give breakfast a miss, which was a shame. 
The whole place overall looks like it is in need of a good refresh and upgrade and I wouldn't currently choose to stay there again. But the staff were friendly, even though they were obviously working at low capacity due to staff shortage.

Overall disappointing

We arrived to book in at the hotel after a horrendous journey, with one member of staff behind the bar. We went to our room to freshen up. Room was fine but the hallway to get there was very smelly (wet dog). After returning to the bar for drinks and dinner we were nicely greeted by Chloe, the same girl was still on her own behind the bar with one very young girl helping to clear and deliver plates. We ordered drinks and perused the menu. We then ordered our dinner and took a seat at the table awaiting its arrival. This is when we noticed the bedlam that ensued!! Customers all around us were complaining that their dinner was taking far too long and desserts were not arriving. We noticed that there was still no extra members of staff and this was Friday night. Chloe was doing her best but obviously no person can run a bar, restaurant and hotel by themselves. After waiting for 1 and a half hours we were informed by Chloe (who was in tears at this point) that they were unable to serve our dinner. Apparently the Manager had been taken to hospital in an emergency that day and the 'chef' was just a trainee and couldn't cope. We held nothing against Chloe but where on earth was her Area Manager?? Is it not their job to support the pubs? We noticed, on our way to this pub, another Marstons pub a mile or so up the road, surely they could have helped with staff if the Area Manager had been around to help. So we had an overnight stay in a pub in which we had no confidence. Plus we were starving after our dreadful trip, therefore we had to walk to McDonald's, not at all what we were expecting!! 🤬

Marston's you should be ashamed!

Really pleasant stay, can’t knock the value, room was spacious and clean, great shower. Really nice welcome and friendly staff. Thank you for making our first middle aged stopover a good one!! 

The location was perfect and super easy to find.

Great stopover

This was my last night in Somerset before making my way back home to Melbourne, so I arranged for my niece and her husband to meet me for a meal here. Having already eaten here on my previous visits to Somerset we all knew what to expect. Being a Tuesday evening, the restaurant had plenty of room for us. The only downside was the there could have been more than just the main one member of staff serving at the bar. He was kept busy all the time we were there.
Our meals were good, so no complaints in that department. They were also fairly reasonably priced, as in previous visits.

An enjoyable meal

Excellent service for a large party (12 people). friendly, efficient, helpful and lovely food.   Very relaxing atmosphere & no rush to leave.  Everyone enjoyed their meal and puddings and we will definitely be back 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Excellent meal

Had to wait a few minutes to check in as bar was also the reception. Directions to room indicated and left to manage belongings to upstairs room accessed via restaurant. 
Breakfast available at extra charge so went to a café on our way to our next destination.
Room was OK but quite chilly. Found a convector heater in wardrobe to use (not safety tested for over 6 years) which helped. Nothing remarkable about comfort or facilities.
Although other restaurants were available in town came back for an evening meal (see separate review).

Another stop on our staycation

Currently staying at Admirals Table and I have to say it's the best place I've stayed in!. I'd highly recommend. The staff are friendly, the food is just lovely and I couldn't ask for any more from the bedroom!. Lovely large double bed which is more like a king bed and a cozy single bed. Absolutely huge room!. My favourite is the en suite. Most hotels I have stayed in have tiny bathrooms and plumbing issues, I have to say I've had the best shower I've ever had. Large enough for 2 people with room to spare!. Rooms are quiet and you don't hear the traffic. I will certainly be returning to this charming Inn!.
