I would just like to thank Chloe and her family for such a wonderful stay. Not only did my bridesmaids and I receive a warm and friendly welcome but the ground floor room was perfect for us! The room, dining room and snug were beautiful, really spacious and there were lovely grounds! Chloe, said that I could use the room as a base for my bridal party and on the morning of my wedding, we enjoyed salmon, cream cheese, tasty bread, cereals and croissants!! I can’t believe that there has been a negative review regarding having to help yourself, we loved the freedom of it all and it was delicious!! The entire stay was great and set us up perfect for the day to come. The only thing I would say is to book your table at the local pub in advance as they were fully booked.

Wedding Eve!

As a previous reviewer pointed out we were greeted by Leah not the owners as they were on holiday, we were not notified about this but Leah was friendly enough.

We were shown to our ground floor room which was nice enough however i agree with other reviews about the privacy issues, unless you keep the curtains closed you have none. 

There was tea/coffee/alcohol  in the breakfast room but a hospitality tray in our room would have been nice.  The TV was useless and almost unwatchable and WiFi pretty poor, again as said by a previous reviewer, it needs looking at.

We had been informed that breakfast was ‘continental’ which I love.  However, it’s more  “it’s in the fridge, help yourself”.  Yes, it was adequate but  nothing was laid out, Leah put some warm crossiants on the table and left.  We have stayed in numerous bed and breakfasts and this was the worse breakfast experience by far.

This bed and breakfast is functional but if you are expecting a little luxury on your visit, forget it.

Taking into account all aspects of Rylstone there was an overall lack of a desire to make paying guests feel comfortable, safe and looked after. This was added to by the lack of communication around a month before our arrival. We forgot to read the small detail about full payment being made one month before arrival, our circumstances changed so we made contact to try and reduce the booking to one night instead of two. The lady on the phone wasn’t sure if that was possible and advised that she would speak to her husband and call back, the call didn’t happen and a voicemail message wasn’t responded to either. This left us feeling unimportant and the experience once we arrived confirmed that.

Half hearted.

On our arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady called Leah (although this was not the owner, as they had gone away - something we were not told about prior to arriving) who showed us around and gave us the key. The room was very big and had lots of furniture to accommodate our clothes etc, but it did smell a little musty/damp. There were no nets/voile at the windows, and as we were on the ground level we had to keep the curtains closed for privacy.There was a TV in our room but when we first turned it on it had no picture. We called Leah to advise her and she promptly came over with her partner (who was also very nice) He managed to re-tune it, but unfortunately, despite getting it going it did not work properly as there was a lot of interference and it kept losing the sound and part of the picture! We also found that the WIFI didn't work in the end of the house we were staying so we had to go to the other end of the house to use it. Later that evening when getting ready to go out we noticed that the water pressure in our En-Suite was very low and the water only trickled out of the tap. The decor was in need of a freshen up in our bedroom and the breakfast room as some of the wallpaper was lifting off and there were marks in places. The location of the B&B is good and there are plenty of places to visit. On our 4th night we went to the local pub The Brewers Arms (a very short walk from the B&B) It offered lovely food and the staff were super friendly. The nearest supermarket was only a short drive away. There was plenty of choices at breakfast which included toast, cereal, eggs, freshly baked croissants, fruit, yogurt, cheese, tea & coffee. Mark and Chloe were nice enough when they spoke to us, but we were a little disappointed and taken aback when they decided to have a row in their kitchen while myself, my husband, the other couple and their teenage children were relaxing by the pool.

Overpriced and in need of some attention

I booked a room back in August for a weekend stay in October.  For work-related reasons I had to cancel my trip (a month in advance!). I called the hotel and they had no flexibility whatsoever. The owner showed some understanding and offered to refund the money if the room was taken by someone else during that weekend. I checked the website every day and they were fully booked all weekend, so I called back to ask for my refund and, to my surprise, the owner was extremely rude and refused to refund me the money or provide any explanation. He basically lied to me when he said he would be able to refund me. Not only that, but he hung up on me and I never heard back. I would never recommend a place with such bad customer service.

Worst service I have ever experienced

We stayed for a week in the room on the ground floor.  It was a lovely room,  very spacious and clean.  The bed very comfortable with clean white sheets and there was plenty of fluffy white towels.  The breakfast set up was excellent - we helped ourselves from an abundant selection of high quality produce.  As the weather was good we managed to use the pool a few times - it is a good size and kept very clean.  It is situated in a lovely garden with chickens and friendly dog roaming around.

The only downside is that being on the ground floor I didn't feel that we had much privacy as the owners family are often passing our windows outside.  A solution could be to put some frosted film on the lower windows.  

All in all this was very good value for money.
