We are here during the end of a wet and windy storm Dennis during half term but the weather has not put us off at all as the sea is invigorating and the location of this hotel is PERFECT for us as I often walked past Regency Square and I liked the look and feel of it but it is hard to find a hotel there which both accepts dogs and is reasonably priced so Hotel Adelaide is PERFECT for us as it is clean and comfortable , the bed is SO comfy and I was worried about that as if the mattress is lacking I can have poor sleep but I can tell this is a good quality mattress , non budget for the price of the room as is the new style breakfast served in a lovely basket to our room! All QUALITY items , lovely bacon , cloudy apple juice not the basic stuff , lovely bread for the toast etc and a very good choice and so the luxury of breakfast in bed it is now and my Grandson who has Autism and was expecting the sausage , eggs and hash browns in the morning was upset at first it had been changed but he has got used to it and the lovely variety plus he is noise sensitive in restaurants especially if crowded so breakfast to the room is perfect and I am happy to say even with some health problems I am managing the stairs to the top floor FINE and any questions you can just ask and you get a quick response and answer so you can just get on with your holiday in peace and it really is a lovely and quiet base to enjoy Brighton even in this weather it is a therapeutic break for us and I love been left alone to relax and enjoy our precious break and yet know the owner is on hand if we do need any help

I feel so chilled here now , and I am happy with room 30 as I need a bath only not the shower and I love the character and quaintness of the building , it is not all bells and whistles but tbh I did not WANT that ie a boutique hotel as this is more relaxed , homely and laid back which I really like and yet service and all the added extras are impeccable!!

This is everything we need and is so comfortable! :-)

Unique little place. I'm a big fan of hotels doing the basic stuff well and not getting hung up about making the place absolutely spotless. Who actually cares, other than obsessive tripadvisor reviewers, if there's a bit of dust on the back of the telly that you wouldn't know was there if you didn't go looking for it? So what if the wallpaper has a few nicks in it? If you feel this stuff makes your stay worse, I think you're a bit sad really, especially when the breakfast in this place is absolutely brilliant. There's a lovely sitting room downstairs with a budgie tweeting away. Nice balcony overlooking Regency Square, and a brilliant location. Will certainly stay again when next in Brighton

cosy and an excellent breakfast

A fairly pleasant guest house, clean well equipped room, friendly owner and staff. We were staying in the front first floor room that had a door onto the shared balcony. 

This however is where the scary part of the stay occurred. 

With no alternative window we had to leave the balcony door open due to the warm weather (it's only secured by a lift latch so it's either fully open or closed), where we had a man walk into our room from the balcony door at 4am in the middle of the night!!!!! 

Thankfully I am a light sleeper and after shouting at him he left. 

I did inform the owner the following morning who treated it as just one of those things. I did point out how insecure the balcony doors are and that there was nothing stopping people walking from one room to the next via the communal balcony. 

Would I stay again? Yes but not in the front balcony rooms!!!

Scary experience

All we wanted was a fairly economical place to stay for two nights. Having briefly seen AH on the Internet, but not having read previous reviews, we made a booking. Arriving late at night, we had to "self check-in", meaning retrieving keys from a small box next to the front door using a code number provided by AH. Our room was no.28 on the top floor. This is an old building, regency-style, so there is no lift. Fortunately, we had very little luggage.

The room was basically clean, but clearly in need of some renovation, especially the rather tired carpet and deteriorating window frames. Lavatory and shower both worked reasonably well, but the water pressure was weak. One towel had a small stain.

Breakfast was included in the price and was quite good - the options are full English or vegetarian, with tea or coffee and various extras on the buffet table. Service was quick and efficient. 

Total cost was c.STG240, a bit dear, but not out of line with similar hotels which we looked at. The location is good, on Regency Square, close to the promenade and sea.

Good breakfast, but...

First impressions. It smelt bad. It’s very dated. It looks dirty and unclean. Breakfast was mostly microwaved and not cooked fresh. For £65 per night you can do a lot better that this . Shop around and look elsewhere 

A bit grim

Went there for Thursday and friday and the room was terrible and small it looked like it had not been cleaned and the shower curtain fell on my head the toilet holder kept on breaking and wasn’t on properly the fridge was even cold it was more like an oven there was no air conditioning to keep you cool and smelt funny and wifi did not work it said password was incorrect even though thats what the paper with the wifi password said however lovely view of the sea  and great location.

Review

Rude staff, filthy rooms, freezing cold showers, what more could you want? Don't believe that it comes with the free breakfast- staff very unaccommodating. Shame as the hotel is in such a great location.

Not good

The only good thing about the place was the location..though it got bit noisy you couldnt have your window open..there was no air con also..you could here the people in the next room too..there was a weird smell when you went up to the rooms..room was very small and dated the shower fell apart the toilet roll holder was broken..the air vent was filthy..the fridge was hotter than outside.the bed was not comfy..i would not recommend this place..also wifi code didnt work and the lights in the bathroom well were dim so couldnt see anything...
