We stayed at the Fox and Goose for the first time for one night prior to an early departure the next morning from Bristol airport. It was easy to find on the main road  with good parking behind the pub and within five minutes of the airport and Silver Zone airport parking. This is a traditional, no frills pub providing a good value room and traditional tasty pub meals. Our room had been nicely refurbished, was quiet and very clean and had everything we needed for a night’s stay.   We were warmly welcomed and speedily checked  in.  We had reserved a table in the restaurant in advance which is advisable to do as it is fairly small and was fully booked by the time we arrived.Overall a good value stay and we would certainly stay there again if we were departing early from the local airport.

A good value stay very near Bristol airport

Really friendly welcome and ideally located for the airport. Lovely room and, whilst it does overlook the road,  I didn’t find it disturbing at all. Lovely meal at a good price made for a great pre-flight stopover. I would definitely stay again

Great stay before a flight

Late birthday treat meal with my son. Everything about this establishment is first class. Beautifully furbished and clean and cosy. Staff are excellent - both extremely polite and professional. Meal once again was faultless. Will be back - SOON and highly recommend.

Fabulous place to dine no matter what the occasion.

We chose this pub because we needed accommodation near to the airport. We went to bed early because of a very early start in the  morning. 

The soundproofing is so poor that we could hear next doors television and the people's conversation. Once they eventually went quiet we then had the constant noise from the trunk road outside. We both averaged 2 hours of sleep. So if getting a good night's sleep is important for you, go elsewhere.

A sleepless visit

Nice,friendly welcome at pub bar for check in. Paid for full English breakfast £8.75 each. Also had reservation for dinner. 
Ensuite room was upstairs in annex.  Lovely simple decor and everything you needed for a one night stay. Cooked breakfast was delicious 😋 
Highly recommend due to proximity to airport and silver zone parking. 

Excellent, convenient stay near airport 

Great food, very reasonably priced but topped by the friendly welcoming staff. Highly recommended and will definitely visit again. Ideally placed for Bristol airport. Only had dinner but many staying overnight for early morning flights.

Such a friendly atmosphere

Friendly staff, great food and well kept ale made for a nice evening meal with friends. Have visited pre covid so nice to see standards have not dropped.
If you like good pub food and drinks at reasonable prices then give it a try. Nice and local if you are flying out of Bristol Airport and have time to drop in. 

Evening meal with friends. 

On the 20/12/2022 we stayed overnight at the Fox & Goose  Bristol. We were flying out on our holidays early the next morning.  We enjoyed our stay and decided to pre book to stay on our return on the 04/01/2023, we also booked a table for 8pm to finish our holiday off. We explained we were due to land at 7pm and could be a little late. We were told not to worry as the pub would be quiet and that the kitchen didn’t close until 9pm.

Our plane arrived late, and we didn’t get out of the airport until 20.25pm. I immediately phoned the Fox & Goose to ask them if we could order a meal over the phone,, and that we were 3 minutes away, given that we were told the kitchen closes at 21hrs, to be told that the chef had been sent home early because we hadn’t arrived by 20hrs. Unknown to us the landlady said she had tried phoning us. 

On entering the pub I asked could we buy a sandwich or a snack because we hadn’t eaten since breakfast, to be told by the Land Lady there was nothing that she could do but she didn’t offer us any alternative e.g., a sandwich or any alternative. 
 
 I asked if there was anywhere to eat or buy a sandwich, to be told no, our only option was a takeaway, but to make sure it could be delivered before the pub closed at 22hrs. We were again reminded we needed to order and pay for breakfast by 21,30.  We felt most unwelcomed guests. The man working behind the bar was very helpful trying to order takeaway food for us, but no one could promise it would be delivered before the pub shut.

I saw crisps behind the bar and said to my Husband it’s a packet of crisps then. I asked the landlady if we could buy any bread to make a crisp sandwich, she again seemed dismissive and said she would have a look if she had any. She sent James the bar man to look, who did come back with two slices of bread each £1.65 PP which was cold and hard and felt and tasted as if the bread came out of the fridge. 

By this time, it was 21.40hrs so my Husband order another pint of beer which was served to him flat, and with no head, he politely  asked Rachael if she could she put a head on his beer, she abruptly said the sprinklers were in the wash (the pub is still trading). where she then snatched the flat pint back, and somehow then pulled him a decent pint. (no apology for a flat pint)

She was very rude and had no hospitality qualities towards us, she was more concerned  with winding the pub down for the night.   

My husband went and asked to have a quiet word with her about the way she was treating her customers. He also said he would be informing Trip Advisor and Marston’s Head office. My Husband came to sit back with me and finish his drink.

Rachael came over to our table and said sorry, but “I don’t know what you wanted me to do”. I explained we have been in the hospitality trade and that her whole persona was unwelcoming. 

I said I’m sure you could have offered us a ham/cheese sandwich, to which she replied I don’t have anything to make a sandwich(a pub serving food with no food/but had food for breakfast). I said we had to beg you for a slice of bread. I remined her that she told us the kitchen didn’t close until 21hrs. She said the Brewery told her to close the pub at 22hrs and the kitchen a 20hrs.

She kept saying sorry, but I don’t know what you want me to do, on more than one occasion I asked her to leave it for us to finish our drink, but she continued and became a little confrontational.

We have never ever been treated like this anywhere we have been.

We would have left and travelled home if we weren’t so tired.

The room for the night was very comfortable, the staff and breakfast was excellent.

Terrible landlady's attitude who spoiled our experience

Had an excellent stay here, we did have a parking fine issued but the landlady was quick to resolve this issue and got it cancelled,  fantastic service can't thank you enough. The food is great and the accommodation clean and comfortable, a nice way to start your holiday

Lovely room &  comfortable bed. Just what you want when knackered after a long day travelling.
