Lovely stay inside the hall, nice touches with homemade jams and flap jack left. Everything you could need really from a stay. There is no BandB anymore, just rent the rooms which was fine for our family but just makes sure you take some breakfast along to keep in the little kitchen. The only moan we could have is that the pillows aren’t very comfy, either hard or far too soft and one of their friends kept our son up with snoring one night but apart from that it was fine. Not a long drive to the town where there are places to eat and there is a little shop in town for essentials

Second stay this is an outstanding place to stay if exploring the area.The accommodation is outstanding and cannot be faulted

2nd stay loved it

Fantastic stay! Lovely cottage, with very comfy beds, well equipped kitchen with absolutely everything you might need, spotlessly clean with a lovely homey feel. Two lovely outside seating areas to catch morning or evening sunshine and the hot tub was an added bonus. Great value for money, fantastic picturesque walks from the door, smashing pub in the village and our hosts couldn't have been more warm and friendly. Highly recommended 👍

Penmachno Hall Gatehouse

We were travelling in the evening from the Coventry area and so I had emailed Penmachno Hall earlier that day to suggest a 9pm arrival time, as check in closed at 10pm. As we drove though, it became apparent that a massive accident on the M6 would scupper us, and so the sat nav took us on a merry jaunt down A-roads. We eventually arrived in Penmachno just past 10pm - phone battery at 2%; slightly worried that check in had passed and would we even be let in. We needn't have stressed though, as Lauraine was a cheery welcome at the door. We knew then that our choice of B&B was worth it. It felt warm and homely and honestly that evening we retired to bed pretty quickly.

We stayed in the Blue Room, which was beautifully decorated and furnished. The bed was comfortable and roomy and you got your usual kettle with tea & coffee, but also a variety of other drinks, such as fruit teas, Horlicks, hot chocolate and even a little chocolate each. 

The next morning, I went on a bit of a rummage through the baskets in the bathroom and noticed that not only did they supply the usual mini shampoo & shower gel, but also little luxuries most B&Bs and hotels fail to supply, such as a shower puff, cotton wool pads and shower caps. The bathroom was roomy and looked out onto the driveway and hills beyond. 

We made our way to the dining room, where a hearty breakfast (you could choose from a pre-order menu) awaited, and honestly although mine was just a cereal, toast and coffee it was the little details, such as the homemade jam from their garden that made the difference. My husband's full English was delicious, he told me, and Simon mentioned that all of the meat and eggs were locally reared and sourced.

They also mentioned they were licensed, and had a bar set up in the dining room with various beers, wine & spirits available at reasonable prices. We didn't take them up on it, but nice to know!

Thanks to the maps and brochures in our room we chose trips that day to Conwy Falls, Llechwedd Slate Caverns and a hike around Tanygrisiau Reservoir, returning for a quick freshen up and then we went into Betws-y-Coed for dinner, which is only a 10 minute drive away and has several restaurants, shops and cafes. 

The mobile phone signal is non-existent, however that wasn't an issue for us being away, and the free wifi provided was excellent. 

Simon and Lauraine were always present, and always interested in our days adventure, offering advice where needed. They couldn't do enough for us during our stay. We would highly recommend anyone wanting a break in Snowdonia to visit Penmachno Hall and experience a B&B with all the bells and whistles.

Gorgeous B&B with fantastic food, amenities and service

B&B within a beautiful converted rectory and set in stunning gardens. Our room was superbly decorated and very homely, with a large double bed and lovely ensuite shower room.  There was a double height window with views over the garden. The hosts were fabulous in every way, they could not have been more hospitable and accommodating. The locally sourced and produced food was an added bonus, to what was a perfect two night stay.

Stunning B&B - a MUST.

We just stayed at Penmachno Hall for three nights in the orange room and had a lovely time. The owners, Lorrain and Simon, were very nice and provided us with a great warm welcome, including a nice cuppa and cakes in the beautiful garden. They also went to the trouble of providing gluten-free cakes for my wife! There was plenty of room to park!
The room was spacious and well equipped and had a fantastic cast iron bath, rather than a plastic shower, which we both appreciated especially after spending every day trekking around several places all day. (we knew this before booking as it’s what we desired). There is a TV but we only popped it on to watch for about 10 minutes before crashing out but lots of channels. The bed was very comfortable and remade each day and the room cleaned daily.
Lorrain Simon and provided a great selection of teas and coffee in the room as well as fresh milk each day along with some nice chocolate treats for us to go along with the refreshments, another nice touch.
There was a very good selection for breakfast each day with locally sourced meats and eggs etc, with the usual cereals and fruit and condiments etc, served in a very nice dining room. Fresh tea/coffee, fruit juices and toast to go with it all. A really satisfying selection and we were offered whatever we fancied, so if you don’t want all of it you can mix and match.
Penmachno is a small typical Welsh village about 10 minutes’ drive from Betws-Y-Coed and thus well away from the noise and all the tourists that frequent this popular town so a very welcome quiet retreat. Not far from Snowdon mountain and also a short drive to the coast, including Conwy Castle.
There are three spacious bedrooms and a self-catering cottage so ideal for a family get together if required and great for a couple as well. Mobile signal is a little patchy and to be expected in the mountain range but Lorrain and Simon were more than happy to let us use their landline to book dinner, at no extra cost and the free wi-fi is decent with no drop outs.
All in all a very pleasant place to stay with excellent hosts and we highly recommend it! We look forward to returning sometime soon!

Lovely place to stay

Having not been to Snowdonia for close on 50 years this was something of a trip down memory lane with the particular objectives of 'doing' the Zip Wire in Bethesda and climbing Snowdon. Penmachno Hall was recommended to us by a relation and proved to be an excellent choice of accommodation. My wife and I were looked after extremely well by Simon and Laurainne. The room was well appointed and their 'full Welsh breakfast' was just ideal for 'stoking the furnace' before the assault on Snowdon! Highly recommended.

If by chance you are going to Blaenau Ffestiniog to go on the steam railway do take advantage of the 'cross-country' route out of Penmachno -  the scenery is stunning.

A Holiday in Snowdonia

We had a lovely time at Penmachno Hall. A great place with a nice breakfast and nice owners. Recommended ! 
It is set in a nice secluded location, but not too far from the brighter lights of Betws y Coed!

Great stay at Penmachno Hall

Beautiful guest room in a quiet and green setting! The guests are lovely, with little care for their guests, full of little attention, and eager to fill us up. The setting is fantastic, the house is gorgeous, the garden is English 😄 The rooms are very clean and offer the necessary (bath towels and toiletries, soap, shampoo, cotton stems, handkerchiefs...). There are even small bottles of courteous water as well as what to make coffee or tea. Breakfast is a treat, Lauraine is an excellent cook! I highly recommend!

A place of peace

A few kilometres from the very touristic Bets-y-Coed, Penmachno Hall is a small jewel. An old house (former presbytery) of character; rooms and sanitary facilities with careful decoration, a varied and abundant breakfast, and above all the warm welcome of Simon and Lauraine.
