Lovely stay over the New Year, real cosy clean room, relatives came and joined us for lunch and throughly enjoyed their meals, New Year entertainment was fun, great place to stay, will keep coming back

New Year Stay

Stopped over for a quick meal after usual lunch serving times. Beth, Sapphire and Taylor were so helpful in accommodating our requests and went above and beyond (and all done with a smile too!) With regards to where we would be seated. It's little touches like this that make it worthwhile coming back.

Going the extra mile

Another excellent break, delicious food, reasonably priced and large helpings, friendly staff and clean accommodation.  A big thank you to the team for making our break so enjoyable again, everything from ensuring we had a comfortable room on the front of the building to having our favourite table each evening.  In particular we would like to mention Nancy and Beth for their attentive service, who were wonderful throughout our visit, nothing being too much trouble, all done with a laugh and a smile.  Also Ryan, the manager, who, as always goes out of his way to make us welcomed and to ensure we enjoy our visit, never seeming to be off duty - well done to all!  Roll on the next time, the only down side is that we always feel sad when we have to leave!  A large car park is a great asset and also try and book one of the better rooms on the front of the building, particularly in the winter when it is not too hot.  Although the road is busy, the noise is not a problem as the windows are well insulated. 

Well Done Again!

We went for a rainy Sunday evening meal and we were very warmly welcomed by the owner/manager? and for the first time in our experience were even told where the loos were when shown to our table!
   From then on the service continued to be superb, and even exceptional from our main server Taylor who was warm, bright , friendly and for whom nothing was too much trouble. All  staff were extremely friendly and helpful actually - it made all the difference! The tables were beautifully spaced out so that you felt you had your own uncrowded space - obviously a lot of thought had gone into it.
    The food was great and excellent value -  loved the specially done gluten free menu! As a coeliac gluten free I really dont expect it but when it is done and so well it is a delight so thank you guys! Yorkshire puds were especially nice - and the bakewell tart!

Superb service, great food - highly recommend!!

We spent a very nice event here. The staff were friendly welcoming and friendly. Very attentive. .. The food was exceptional   We had absolutely no complaints. Even had time to chat to my grandson on the phone. Will and Holli were very efficient but not over bearing. Will definitely go again.

Friendly cosy and welcoming.

We had lunch with my mum and dad here. The main thing that stood out was the customer service, a great team giving good attention and patience!  Beth particularly stood out and looked after us well, some good old fashioned customer service. Thx.

Super customer service.

I spent 6 nights there in February. 

Really friendly helpful staff, but at busy times overworked, took a while to check in and get served at bar. Evening meals were ok, but definitely not gastro pub. Breakfast was good (first class poached eggs) but the continental option was a bit limited - no croissants, rolls, ham, cheese, etc that you might expect from a continental breakfast, just cereal, yoghurt, apples, toast, jam and danish pastries or mini muffins.

Room was comfortable and bathroom refurbished tastefully. But the view was pretty awful (knackered old chairs, etc - see photos). Window fastening was broken and the top of the radiator was grubby and "sticky". Although it had been refurbished, there was an awful lot of artex remaining - even the wood backing for the hook on the bathroom door had been artexed!

Bedding was clean but torn in places but bed was comfy. Furniture was functional but a bit battered and old.

Having said this, I did enjoy my stay, primarily because the staff were so nice and friendly, making me feel at home because I was travelling solo. Top marks to them - and the housekeeping team. Again: brilliant staff 5*****

Room & food average but staff were first class.

We stopped on the offchance to see if we could be fitted in for Sunday lunch. As always the staff were really friendly and helpful but I'm afraid the roast was very disappointing since we last visited. The potatoes were tiny, the stuffing miniscule and overcooked. The carrots and cabbage were very lack lustre and the cauliflower cheese very hard and undercooked and barely any cheese sauce. There was plenty of turkey but it looked as if it was from a turkey piece not a whole turkey. The Yorkshire pudding was soft and completely flat and we literally poured the runny cranberry sauce on to the plate.  To be fair the meal was tasty and filling but I would say definitely not worth £13.99. As it was only just gone 1pm I would have expected better. The Sunday roast always used to be excellent but we were very disappointed.

Disappointing Sunday Roast

Lovely rooms with excellent service. From the moment we arrived to the excellent service from Beth in the evening. Great options for our evening meal & the food was wonderful!! Breakfast was just as good. Highly recommend.

Wonderful hotel & restaurant

Went with friends for Valentines meal. It was apparent they were very short staffed from the moment we got there. 10 min wait to be seated, then not in restaurant but in main bar area, although had booked 3 weeks ago. Another 10 min wait at bar to order food, the poor bar girl was the only one serving and was so overworked. she was very polite even though she was completely rushed of her feet. Mistake made on drinks order and when food finally came 2 of starters were not up to usual standard. mains ok again not the best, people by now turning up for meal but waiting so long to be seated a lot turned away and left. A lot of people wanted to order from their ordinary menu but were told they couldn't after waiting for absolutely ages to order. These menus should've been removed to avoid this. The best thing of the evening was the sweet! And yes had to wait for these. Cant really blame the staff as they were trying their best but definitely need to sort staffing issues out especially for special occasions such as Valentines.
