Stayed one night on the way to the ferry in Plymouth.  Very impressed with the interior, and one of the most comfortable beds we have had the pleasure to sleep in.  Booked with Kevin, who was very responsive to our needs, and very helpful.  A welcoming and friendly environment, and great home cooking.  Excellent wifi and free parking.

Beautiful and Comfortable Accommodation

We had quite a day hiking in Dartmoor and when we arrived at the Tradesman's Arms the sun came out and the pints were waiting.  Kevin and Suzanne are the most amazing hosts. The 'escaped to the country' from London a few years ago and have poured their hearts into the Tradesman's Arms. Our room and bathroom were recently renovated during quarantine and were beautiful. The views were breathtaking - even from the shower (which was hot and powerful). Every modern amenity you could ask for in the most beautiful, idyllic, countryside setting. Kevin even gave us a lift to town the next morning when we mentioned we needed a pharmacy.  Delicious dinner and fantastic breakfast in a lovely dining room with 180 degree views. We can't wait to return one day.

Paradise after a long hike

My husband and I, together with our dog stayed for 2 nights and were made to feel very welcome. Our room was clean and comfortable and the evening meals were very reasonable and good quality. An excellent breakfast was served in the conservatory with wonderful views of the countryside. A proper country pub -  great beer and great hospitality. We will definitely be returning.

Perfect location for exploring the beauty of Dartmoor

The Tradesmans Arms is indeed a hidden gem, tucked away in a delightful village on the edge of Dartmoor National Park.
The rooms were perfectly presented with everything you would need to hand.
Our hosts were friendly and attentive to our every need including arranging an out of hours meal for myself and chatting to my wife until I arrived.
The meals are very reasonbly priced and are of a high standard, the Chips are sublime, amongst the the best we've  ever tasted!
Breakfast was again beyond reproach with a choice of the usual "English Breakfast" or Porridge etc..
We had a great time and hope to be back soon!

Very warm welcome!

Lovely traditional pub, great welcome and hosts. Kids and dog made very welcome, we originally booked to eat outside but due to the downpour we were put inside and were so grateful for that!! We could have walked from the local campsite were we staying at. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, great home cooked pub food at a great price oh and nice beer and local gin too! Would definitely recommend.

Very warm welcome

Very rural Devon with a busy farmyard out of our window.  Miles down some fraught lanes, it caters for serious Two Moor walkers, local campers  and the hamlet families. Everything is a good effort but not contemporary or sophisticated.  Perhaps better for it.  Kevin & Suzanne have been improving the pub for five years.  Perhaps no grand plan; things seen to have happened haphazardly.  But most of it works. We enjoyed two evening meals.  A tempting, traditional menu and satisfactory breakfasts.  Quality linked to room price.  Good bar and draught beers.  Very good choice of wines.  They work hard for their isolated but most popular pub.  Kevin has a nice touch as mine host.

An interesting experience!

No-one could describe the location as busy. Narrow, deep set, twisting roads without passing places and bridges barely wide enough for a car. However, the end result is a perfect getaway location. Even better is the fact it is Dog friendly.  Accommodation is adequate and clean with pleasant valley view. Food in generous portions and friendly staff. 
Only negative is that WiFi is slow (and poor reception in room). However if you are after a quiet time then why worry about that. Having stayed twice over the year would highly recommend it.

Hidden Gem

We found the staff very friendly and the choice of menu was excellent which offered good value for money. The food came quickly and was nicely presented. We would certainly visit again.
The pub is very clean and well presented and the outside area a delight to sit in on a sunny day.

A lovey quick lunch reaonably priced

Very welcoming B&B, in beautiful location on the 2 moors way route. Excellent pub grub and hearty breakfast. Value for money, but obviously not luxurious. We were a party of 8, so used all available rooms. They were all quite different and had own bathroom or shower room. Friendly owners.

Clean, comfortable basic B&B

Badger the Dog and I had a lovely welcome from everyone (including Safi the Dog) and great food at the Tradesman's Arms during our Two Moors Way walk. Highly recommended, especially if you are walking the TMW between Chagford and IvyBridge (17 miles from Chagford, then 13 onwards to Ivybridge)
