I really enjoyed Robbie Burns, menu.
The Riverside is welcoming and has a great ambiance, the staff were attentive and friendly. There was so much food and matching food with whiskey and fever tree tonics was a nice touch. Recently we experienced a wine and meal matched menu and to be honest this is a great idea.
Please do more Riverside of matching each course with wines and if your menus are collectable by diners, I will be asking for a copy of last night's menu, it was beautifully done with a historic poem on the back. The staff who served us:
Holly came to our table to share information about the drinks made to our personal request. We were served by Phoebe (lovely personable girl), Ash (smart and respectful lad), Sean (nothing was too much trouble with a sense of humour).
Thanks Riverside you have a great idea here for speciality menu nights and when presented so well and delivered in a tasty and entertaining way, I hope you carry it forward into 2024. Robbie Burns menu a great success.

The bar area is very small with limited tables, this area is really for drinks and the restaurant is for eating however whenever you go tables are reserved in the small bar area for people eating who take a dig with them, surely it should be if you turn up with a dog and a table is free that’s ok but not to reserve tables, the bar area should be first come first served, in doing this it’s fair to everyone, the restaurant is for bookings !

Bad organisation

We stopped at The Riverside for our works Xmas party. The rooms are stylish and modern with great tea and coffee services. The bed is really comfortable and air conditioning is an added bonus. Our meal was lovely and the staff were friendly and professional. I would recommend.

12 of us went for mother in laws 80th birthday,  they got the service spot on, all meals out at the same time, staff friendly and very efficient,  food was also excellent and reasonably priced, we will return next year.
 Steak was cooked perfectly,  steak and ale pie was huge,  seabass everyone said was delicious and the younger ones all enjoyed there burgers.
 Give it a go, you won't be disappointed

We booked 2 rooms for 1 night stay here in October with our dog we had a ground floor deluxe room with what they said a river view.

when we arrived the pub was warm and welcoming we checked into our newly refurbished rooms which well lovely a little on the small side if I am honest but lovely the river view wasn't great but we were only here 1 night I think for longer the rooms would be a little claustrophobic If I am honest.

the rooms have everything you would need hairdryer. tea coffee and a huge TV :)

Amazing shower however if you used the large shower head it flooded the bathroom which we did tell the lady about in the morning the water cannot drain quick enough.

We had booked a table in the bar for the evening and at the time of booking informed that we would have our dog with us.

we went to the bar and was informed they don't take bookings for tables with dogs in the bar but I did book sometime ago so the lady was helpful and managed to get us a table in the very busy bar with our dog where there were blankets water and dog treats he was very happy. 

our dinner was lovely and reasonably priced and the young waiter was so helpful gave our dog lots of treats and made a fuss of him which he loved. 

in the morning we had an amazing breakfast with so much choice could not fault the breakfast either in fact we couldn't eat it all. 

we had a lovely walk along the river and watched people playing golf. 

this is a great base we visited the royal arboretum which is only a short drive away and was the reason we booked an overnight stay here it was great thank you for a lovely stop

I had a really bad experience with the Riverside Hotel. I book here once every month for business. I was given a room where the central heating not working. They don’t answer the reception phone what’s so ever.
I had to get dressed after a long day of travel and working, to the reception to ask for help.
They say it will work but give it time. 4 hrs later the room still freezing, again they never answer the reception phone. Again I have to change and go down to beg for help. I was given a fan heater with zero empathy or apology from the receptionist.
I went to have a shower, the shower handle was broken .
That’s the worst customer service I ever encountered in the hospitality industry.

Zero customer service

My family and I were looking forward to a nice meal. I ordered the 30day 10oz ribeye, but unfortunately there wasn't any. ( Every time I come here there is always something missing off the menu) so as I wanted a steak the next choice was the 8oz sirloin. I've got to say it was the worse steak I've ever had, it was full of gristle, very chewy and tough and certainly not worth the money. I complained and all I got was "Sorry about that" I wished I'd had words with the chef or manager but it would have been to embarrassing for the rest of my family.
Needless to say I won't be eating at this restaurant again, and I will definitely not be recommending it to any of my friends.

It's no good having a nice place to eat if the food isn't good.

Visited here for Sunday lunch with the family. Place has a lovely setting next to the river.
On arrival was greeted by a polite and pleasant young lady who showed us to our table. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and is nice and clean and spacious.
The waiting staff are very helpful and polite.
Our meals all came out together and where nice, have had better but still enjoyable.
There is a good selection of drinks at the bar.
All in all a pleasant experience and will be returning in the summer to sit out on the patio.

Lovely setting.

Wanted to pop a review on here to say how impressed I was yesterday after spending the afternoon for my baby shower. 
So we booked the riverside for a meal for my baby shower for 28 people it was all so efficient to book and the manger couldn’t of been any more helpful if she tried. 
On arrival we were out in the function room this was a lovely surprise we could enjoy the afternoon play games and not annoy any other guests dining. They set the tables lovely and dressed them with white table cloths. Once we added our decor to the room it looked amazing. 
The staff were so helpful and on hand all day taking drink orders and serving the meals.
The food was outstanding everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and commented how nice it was. The pate started came with a huge pot of pate and one piece of toast everyone had more than half pate left and no toast so so
Some asked and plates of toast were brought in no problem straight away. For a big food food order it was served quickly and efficiently. Everyone was very impressed. 
If you want a small function they partition off a section of the function room so it’s a lovely room for little occasions.

baby shower party/meal outstanding service and day

Stayed for one night when attending a friends party in nearby Burton on Trent. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening as out at the party, but had a drink and sharing platter in the bar upon arrival and the best full English breakfast I have had the following morning! My wife had the Sundae Brunch which was equally good. We were impressed by the friendly and helpful staff upon arrival and throughout. Although not huge, our room was very smart and comfortable, with the best guest drink tray I had encountered. Bed very comfy. TV large modern and sharp. The bathroom was a delight. Car park huge. Full marks all round!
