Quirky listed property with 5 star hosts

Arrived at the place, was met straight away by the owner, greeted and taken to my room. Lovely wood burning stove in main lounge, was kindly offered home made wine and food. Great Wi-Fi for those that need, very friendly staff that couldn’t do enough. My room was cosy, was facing main road, bit noisy but that was ok. Stairs a little steep for those that might be less mobile but there are other rooms on ground floor. The house has a lot of history, it’s clean and although staying a night, I would return. Thank you

Lovely, friendly and great food

A real home from home with lovely hosts Terry and Lynnie in their beautiful, old, quirky house. Great value if you're happy to stay in the rooms with no en-suite.  The bathroom is nearby with the MOST amazing walk in shower.  Substantial breakfast included.

What an interesting B & B! The house itself dated 1440 I think the host said is incredible! If you’re looking for  premier inn type accommodation then don’t book. This b & b is quirky, full of nooks and crannies jammed packed with character, including the hosts. They are friendly, down to earth and very welcoming. When we arrived they were fighting floods but it didn’t dampen their spirits. Pet friendly, good breakfast on a Sunday in particular as in cooked, other day’s cereal, toast, fruit etc all served around a vast table in a lovely dining room, encouraging talk with other guests instead of just not communicating much with others, I loved that! 
We will be back! 

Amazing & quirky! 

Was only at bridge street historic guest house for less then 30 minutes so this will be a short review. Arrived after booking on Air B&B, Terry showed us to our room which was very smelly, damp and mouldy in places. We were warned to be careful as some form of building works had been started in the garden area. I was not happy to have my little girl sleeping on what must have been a 40 year old tatty sofa bed in a damp room so be left. Full refund has been given. I honestly don’t know how this place has so many good reviews so that’s why I feel the need to write this to warn people it’s not as it seems.

If you want a proper, modern hotel then this isn't for you.  

If you want to be invited into a good friend's home where they haven't quite tidied up but will welcome you with fantastic hospitality, small but comfy rooms and a great breakfast then this place is a gem.

Main building is 11C and the 'modern' bit is 14C. All old beams. Lavenham village nearby looks like a Tudor film set.

Traffic can be a little noisy as it's right on the A134 but didn't bother us at all.

Well if you like Premier Inns this is not for you ! If you like quirky and off the wall and a bed and breakfast which is full of history stay here.
Lovely bedroom with silk padded walls, good en -suite   and spotlessly clean, the old part of the house is around 1100 and the "modern"part is

Quirky and homely all wrapped in one.

My daughter, granddaughter and I needed just 1 night's b&b somewhere near Sudbury that was dog friendly and this little gem came up on Google. 
The rooms were clean and well equipped, beds were comfortable and the hosts were so helpful. The garden is like a little magical woodland and my dog was in her element.
We all would have happily stayed for longer ....

1 night only ...

Extraordinary part 11th century Anglo- Saxon manor house with a more "recent"  14th century wing. Originally this would have been a single space medieval hall  with a hole in the apex of the roof to release smoke from an open fire  but it was "capped" in the 16th century to have a chimney and an upper floor added  within the existing structure .... now reached by a spiral staircase similar to a church tower spiral staircase, but now carpeted.. my bedroom had walls covered in cloth mounted on hidden frames which I was told protected medieval.wall paintings underneath. The host family were very welcoming and willing to explain the extraordinary features of the building and its remarkable mix of furnishings if one was interested in history.

This is a very different experience from a Travel lodge, but if you like history it is a memorable experience.

To reassure potential guests I can confirm the little ensuite attached to my room was recently installed in the  21st century!

The property is only 15 minutes drive from the very fine medieval wool village, Lavenham. 

I happened to watch a BBC documentary on Christmas in a Tudor manor house the following night, and found it all became wonderfully familiar!



This not just old it is ancient!

This was our first time staying here and can honestly say we loved it.
The owners Terry and Lynette made us feel so welcome and couldn't do enough for us. We felt like we were visiting family, we spent the saturday night with Terry and Lynette having a good natter and drink with lots of laughter, that's how comfortable you feel. 
Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice and our room was beautiful and very accessible decorated beautifully.
The house is wonderfully old and preserved with lots of history attached and original features, we were captivated right away and wanted to discover more and more.
Cant wait to come back soon
