A very nice room in a Victorian house, had everything I needed. Comfortable bed, free tea & coffee and wi-fi. Everywhere was clean and tidy. Everyone very friendly. Plenty of on street parking. It was only a short walk into the town, which had plenty of restaurants, pubs and shops.

A very good guest house. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Great quiet location with street parking. We would definitely stop here again when visiting the theatre. Easy check in process and we stopped in room 3 which was an en-suite room.
The room was lovely and spacious. The bathroom was of good size too.

Great stay and lovely quite location

We booked two rooms for three nights. My husband and I had a room with an ensuite bathroom and our son a room with a shared bathroom on the top floor. The rooms were spotless. We found the beds were comfortable and there was a generous supply of tea and coffee. We were able to access the property by using a key from a key safe outside and get settled in until the manager arrived about 5 minutes later. Whilst breakfast is not provided the nearby café Eat at No 5 serves excellent food. Also nearby a pie and mash shop has just opened serving amazing, simple homemade food - as well as delicious pies, it will be also selling cakes soon. Both establishments are highly recommended! We used the hotel as a base for a walking holiday and would definitely come back.

Great value, extremely clean

Great location for the shops, pubs etc.as only a five minute stroll. A lovely clean guest house. Very friendly staff that were informative and helpful. The beds were high but I didn’t see that as a problem as they were really comfortable. Shared bathroom wasn’t an issue either as it was spotless and had free shampoo, deodorant shower gel if you needed it. Nice and quiet at night. No breakfast which is clearly stated when you book but also not an issue as a few cafes just a few mins away. I stayed with my sister on Friday 9/09/23. We would definitely go back and recommend this guest house as we thought it was excellent value for money. 

Excellent location Great guest house 

Fantastic place to stay . Room was lovely and full of character. Booked ourselves in and out from text message instructions from owner , which suited us fine . Perfectly situated , 2 mins walk from market square and 10 mins from opera house. 
Plenty of parking in street . 
Would definitely come again

Weekend break

Great value. The room was fine, very clean, nicely decorated,the bed comfortable with loads of pillows; the smallest wc/shower I have ever seen, but it was perfectly adequate. Quiet location. I thought the lack of breakfast provision would be a problem, but a two minute walk brought me to two options for a "full english".
I shall definitely book into this place again

Great Value

The only reason I visited Buxton because it was commutable from Manchester and the photos on google showed it as a pretty place. NOW I know that to be true. 

I booked this accommodation and the only downfall with it happened early. The owner sent me a message saying  it was a no fuss business and if I was fussy I should reconsider and book elsewhere. I was a bit perplexed by his message...but then realised he was probably reacting to bad feedback. It's a learning curve to understand that not all feedback will be good, and to use the feedback to constantly improve. 

I am quite glad I wasn't put off by his message because when I arrived here I was immediately charmed. When he met me at the door, he was the most wonderful young chap. He offered to take my case up the stairs ... I may have mentioned I hadn't been well. What a gentleman! 

The room is well appointed. I was in Room 1 up a set of stairs. The bed was comfortable and I slept well here. Initially I booked for three nights, but extended it to four. There is something really special about Buxton. 

The bathroom has gorgeous tiles in it. The shower was good. The location is within walking distance of eateries and in fact, it's near Number 5 cafe... one of the best cafes I have visited in the UK. Also if you walk up the hill from here it will take you to Poole's Cavern...or you can walk to the centre of town from here. There is a review here mentioning that it's not suitable for mobility issues. I would say that is a fair comment. But for everyone else... consider this. Thank you for making my UK trip a bit more memorable.

Nice clean place, dog friendly. Beds very high from the ground, not suitable for disabled people. Able bodied people - cannot fault the place. Not disabled friendly and no effort to make adjustments were made or support alternative arrangements given difficulty my mother was having dragging herself up 34 stairs (2 flights).  Kind if disappointed really as not even a verbal sorry from the owner or partial refund for having to leave early. Just a text message saying no refund can be made as they are struggling to pay bills since covid - aren’t we all!

Good place, good value but avoid with disabled persons.

We had a lovely room at the guest house (Room 3) with a really comfy bed and a nice view of the Derbyshire hills in the background. We found that it was well situated in a quiet part of town but still close enough to everywhere we wanted to get to - only around 15 min walk from the train station. There was plenty of tea and coffee provided in the room, but no breakfast. We only actually saw the owner once as we checked ourselves in and out, but he seemed nice and gave us a good tip for a short walk that we could do on the last day. Some might consider his absence to be rather impersonal, but it didn't really bother us or pose any issues and he was available whenever we needed by phone. We were also able to leave our bags for a few hours after we checked out so that was handy. Overall we really enjoyed our stay!

Lovely room, comfy bed, good location, no complaints!

Lovely bright clean spacious bedroom rm1 plenty of tea and coffee provided. Close to pubs cafe's and shops, Just a couple of points no shower gel provided & room not serviced during stay butreally enjoyed stay would recommend
