Room is reasonably priced, clean and spacious. Noice levels were not as bad as expected from being above the bar, but we could hear people coming up the stairs which at times did wake us up. Other then that it was as advertised and as expected that’s why I gave it a 4. Friendly staff that leave you to it :)

Suitable Room

A break with a difference. The room was spacious,clean and as advertised.  The owner and staff in the tapas bar below the accommodation  were so helpful,friendly and cheerful. Situated so close the all the parks,bars,theatres and the sights.

weekend break

We booked two superior rooms based on the description of them being something special.  The venue is on a side street off the market square and masquerades as a cafe bar with accommodation above.

To describe it as Bohemian is to perhaps give more credit than it deserves.  On arrival the place was being decorated for a birthday party that evening which of course, meant we would have to look elsewhere for food and drink.

We were taken around the back of the property to a rear door which gave access to the rooms.  An awkward staircase means difficult if not impossible access for the disabled. 

The rooms were in a poor condition - not shabby chic.  Soft furnishings are poor and walls are stained with leaks from bathrooms.  The carpets had seen better days.  The shower in the bathroom is useless - it takes ages to become tepid and the water barely trickles out.  You would need to be a contortionist to use the bath.  The bed was good but the fridge grinding away all night prevented any meaningful sleep.

Despite being a cafe bar - there is no breakfast available and guests are sent across the market to a local cafe.  This turned out to be the highlight of the stay!!  

Would I stay again?  With a Premier Inn up the road at half the price??  You have two hopes - no hope and Bob Hope and he has already left town!!

A fine line between tatty and shabby!

First impressions was "how quaint). However, after that it went down hill very quickly. On the plus the staff were very friendly, the bed linen was clean and there was a pay to park car park directly opposite. On the down side the room was dirty, dusty and the carped was stained. The shower door wouldn't close properly, a bath tap was hanging off and unless you were 4 foot tall you would have to kneel down to look in the mirror to shave. The room was situated over the bar below, so if you opened the window it was pretty noisy till the early hours. Also the smokers congregated directly below the window, some unless you were into passive smoking the window was kept shut.

Thought it looked like a tattoo parlour from the outside ,had walked up to the square to ask if anyone knew where it was only to discover that I had parked outside
Checked in at the bar only To be told the rate was£70 I was quoted 58.50
Room was tired and in poor decoration . The only good thing was clean sheets and very comfortable pillows. Had to leave early next day and had to escape through the back door
