The Hotel is almost Semi Derelict, and is a complete Rat Hole inside..
Mouldy damp rooms….sticky wallpaper…..a complete car crash.
It looks like some handyman has done some botched repairs, and employed staff who speak very little English..
Thought we were in an Indian Curry house for breakfast….absolute dog meat.

The Rat Hotel

1) There was no fire escape information in the room and I didn’t get any reply when I asked for this, the doors are flimsy with gaps underneath and the room wasn’t easy to navigate to, so I wasn’t at all comfortable with that, given my room was three staircases up. 
2) The room had a nest of False Widow spiders on the inside of the window. I killed 4 of them before deciding I was too afraid to stay in the room. 

I literally left the room at 9pm by myself and walked outside in the dark and pouring rain as the hotel were not able to address my concerns. They told me they would refund me but two days later they changed their mind, so now I paid for this room and again for the new hotel that I eventually found after wondering the streets trying to find somewhere that was open (there is no phone signal in the whole village so I’m sure you can imagine how frightening this was for a single woman).

So bad I couldn’t even stay there and forfeited my room

The hotel staff were welcoming, and our room was comfortable and spacious. The room had a kettle with tea/coffee/hot choc and the bathroom had a good supply of toiletries. Bed and pillows were comfortable.
All of the staff were welcoming. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel both days, and can't fault the food. I am coeliac and was happy surprised at how well they were able to cater for my dietary requirements, even fish and chips were gf, and bread was available if I requested it. A good selection of cold food at breakfast, the first morning we didn't realise there was a cooked breakfast menu to come a little later so made sure to save room for a cooked breakfast the following morning. 
Easy to walk around the village from the hotel. There is a car park for the hotel, and bus stop across the road.
Perfect place to stay for doing the Watkin Path on Snowdon.

Beddgelert is a great place to stay, for walking and relaxing.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, dog friendly hotel. 
Exceptionally clean and excellent breakfast.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great hotel, great staff

Room was dated but really comfy bed, it was clean and shower/bath was good. Breakfast was lovely but you do have to ask the staff for a menu for the hot food they don’t offer one. Juice and continental breakfast also nice whilst you wait for food. We had no issues with parking.

A nice weekend stay

The owner is accepting bookings and taking money whilst the hotel is closed. We arrived and were unable to gain access, there was no activity, the lights were off. After speaking with locals we were told that it had been closed since 2022, lots of people have turned up only to have to find alternative accommodation. The owner is unscrupulous, I booked via Booking.com on Tuesday for a one night stay on Wednesday, I even received an email asking if I wanted to upgrade for additional cost, nearly one hundred pounds was taken from my account even though the website stated there was no need to pay prior to the stay, we sourced alternative accommodation in the village along with 12 other people who had also booked. The entire village is talking of the wrongdoings which is causing concern and upset to many. I was told that a young family with a baby turned up at Christmas only to find the hotel closed. I was told by numerous villagers that the hotel is tired and in a poor state of repair which includes a leaking roof! I was also told that suppliers have not been paid and that the telephone line has now been switched off! The Royal Goat’s sister hotel is also in the village and is called the Saracens Head, I am informed this is also in a similar situation, ie no telephone line and a sign on the door saying ‘closed’!

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. IT ISN'T OPEN AND THEY WILL STILL TAKE YOUR MONEY!!! 

The Hotel closed in September 2022 and is in a state of disrepair (leaking roof just one of the problems).

They may reply to your email which suggests all is well but is far from it.

The phone lines at The Royal Goat Hotel and its Sister Hotel (The Saracens Head - Also CLOSED) are both disconnected.

According to Publicans and Hoteliers in Bedgellert, staff are owed wages that have not been paid. The owner of The Royal Goat Hotel is scamming people, taking their money and their time.

Money was taken from my account immediately by booking.com despite the paperwork stating that payment wasn't due until arrival.

Fortunately, there were vacancies at The Prince Lewellyn just down the road (which was great).

The Royal Goat Hotel is due (allegedly) to reopen at the end of March 2023.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES - THE OWNER WILL SCAM YOU!!!

This hotel is closed, so do not make a booking! company called tomcat ltd run this hotel "the royal goat" and also the "the Saracens head". both hotels are accepting auto bookings and take your money but that is as far as it go's. I've managed to get my money back from my bank.
They have gone bust and disappeared so do not book.

Very shocked to get a threatening letter demanding payment or court action for a stay many months ago. Was told on check in that they had taken pre-payment through booking.com, I didn’t think to double check this. No further contact through booking.com to inform me this wasn’t in fact the case. I made  payment immediately as obviously I owed for my stay but not a nice way to go about their business.

Dreadful lack of communication

Arrived tired on a very wet day in September. The welcome could not even been warmer. Room ok, food excellent, breakfast outstanding.  Easy access to the rest of Beddgelert facilities, Snowden, Hebog and Cnicht on the doorstep. Superb base for exploring the wider north wales. Anglesey 45mins. Will return and would recommend.
