I returned to this HF house after my first stay, six years ago. I was using it for a long weekend in the area, walking with friends who were staying in Beddgelert village. Initially I was disappointed to not be able to find a B&B to join them, then I remembered Craflwyn Hall!  Though perhaps not the cheapest accommodation in the area, certainly the best, I'm sure.  I stayed on a full board basis (I guess 'self guided') so got everything you would on a Guided Walking holiday, less the walks (though for an extra fee you can join them as well).  The staff were all excellent and Richard, the manager of this HF house, was very helpful and darting around doing everything. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, so nice to have that level of service and friendliness. Well done.  As usual with HF, the food was excellent and plentiful, and it was all very sociable, sitting with other guests at large tables for meals.  While I was staying, there was a very interesting talk by a Snowdon mountain ranger and also by a local guy who runs a bird of prey sanctuary. I have encountered the 'bird man' on previous holidays with HF in Snowdonia and am glad they still use him for one of the evening events - he and his wife are very entertaining and informative.

Had I wanted to do my own walks, there was the usual selection of walking guides at the 'Discovery Point', but I didn't use these.

I had a nice double room in the Stables conversion (room 15). Useful to be able to drive up to the door to unpack/repack the car.  

It was nice to see that HF book tour groups in too - there was a group of people from Germany doing a tour of Wales who arrived the evening before I left.

Back again for second visit, all great!

We were here for a taster walking weekend with HF Holidays. It is a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Richard, the manager, is excellent and was very entertaining at dinner. All the staff are great but Ana deserves a special mention for her gin tasting and wonderful Pimms and lemonade. The food was fabulous, so a special thanks to the chef also. For packed lunch you chose your sandwich the night before (more or less anything you want) and then picked additional items from a table set out at breakfast time - home made pies, crisps, snack bars, biscuits, chocolate, nuts, etc.
The only negative for us was the accommodation. We were staying in the stable block and the walls are very thin. Our neighbours talked loudly and were very early risers, but I guess that was just unlucky. Otherwise, a really enjoyable stay helped by some good weather.

Pleasant surprise

I was here on a trekking trip over New Year. The service was perfect - Richard, the manager, was everywhere, working with everything always with a smile. The food was very, very good and the lunch picnic food was absolutely fabulous. My room was small but I had everything I needed. The bed was the second best bed I have ever slept in!

Wonderful hotel and staff

We stayed here with a group of friends and the setting was lovely. It was close to Beddgelert, as you could walk into town if you wanted to. The staff at Craflwyn Hall made this a special holiday, as it was my son's birthday toward the end of our stay. I mentioned to Richard the owner that if he could just have a piece of birthday cake the next night a dinner so we could celebrate my son's birthday that would be nice. Richard went above and beyond the call of duty and made it a special time. The guides for our hiking trip were excellent and very caring and knowledgeable with the area of where we did our hiking in Snowdon. It was a really lovely time and made some new friends. The rooms were clean and quite nice. I would certainly recommend Craflwyn Hall to others. 

Lovely Setting

Stayed a couple of nights having booked it as BnB. This is akin to a back packers but for grown ups. In fact the average age was over 65. The rooms are clean and pleasant. Ours was in the converted stables. En-suit bathroom. TV etc. The meals are taken together on shared tables, but everyone is friendly and you are soon chatting away. The staff a super friendly and the food good. In fact one of my evening meals was frankly 5 star - stunning. If I return to Snowdonia I will without hesitation stay there again.
