We arrived just around time when lockdown intention was announced so were making our way home. The host was friendly , helpful and motorcycle friendly (we were travelling by motorcycle). She showed where we could park our motorcycle around side of her property away from the front and even offered to put our motorcycle in her garage. The ensuite bedroom was warm, well laid out and clean and had all the facilities you would expect. The breakfast was tasty and a good portion and our host served and attended to us without fussing over us. Our host gave us good tips for travelling in the local area by motorcycle and we enjoyed our chats with her. We both enjoyed our stay at Glengarry Guest House and would stay again if in the area

A very nice B&B with a very good reception. The rooms are spacious, comfortable. The bunk on the top. Our host was really very friendly and was very good advice for tours. A mention +++ for breakfast. A real treat.

It's a very nice address

The Glengarry Guest House is located about 5 minutes outside the centre of the village, where there are many restaurants and shops. The rooms are large, modern and very clean. The bathrooms are modern, but the showers are insular in nature. The staff are very friendly and helpful and every morning there is a fresh breakfast on order. There are plenty of excursions nearby. A good place to explore the south of Scotland.

We would not stay anywhere else!!  Recommend it to anyone. Very convenient for cruise on Loch Katrine.  Plenty of excellent restaurants in the Vicinity with a great choice of different foods.  B&b host full of local info.

Callander's best b&b

This Guesthouse was highly comfortable, clean and in a great location.

However I regret to have to say that Evlyn the manager had a very odd way of interacting with customers. Evlyn's people skills were embarrassing and we were genuinely scared to interact with her!

During my very first interaction with Evlyn she shouted down the phone to me saying: "NO,NO,NO, you are not booked in this Guesthouse". When I asked who I was speaking to Evlyn shouted back down the phone: "I am the manger." It then turned out that were were indeed booked in to stay at her Guesthouse, so I called back later that day to double check that we had a room booked and Evlyn's was much more polite. I said I was looking forward to meeting her and she agreed. 

However, when we first arrived we were greeted by a beautiful little dog and Evlyn made a point of insisting that we should not pet the dog stating that we are: "Doing what all the other guests do, as we make it difficult for her to train the dog because we keep petting it". This was a very odd first interaction and seemed like Evlyn was attempting to alter the power dynamic on her part somewhat. 

As the conversation proceeded and Evlyn began to show us around, she made us feel as though the very fact that were were there was some sort of annoyance for her! When I asked where we could find her to return the key the next day she replied defensively with: "I am the manager. You will find me around..." The tone of Evlyn's response was highly patronising.

When we returned later that night  at approx 9.10pm there was a sign on the door saying: "Please ring the bell," so we rang the bell. We then realised that we had been given a key to open the front door and apologised when Evlyn came to let us in (even though she had not initially made clear that we were not supposed to ring the bell and the sign said we should!) When Evlyn came to open the door she responded to my partners apology with an: "Aye yes, you should be" and she indicated that we should be sorry, by rolling her eyes and showing anger in her facial expressions.

Following our second strange interaction with Evlyn, we decided to take a look at the reviews online for Glengarry Guesthouse, and we were horrified to see the incident in which a child became seriously ill and Evlyn refused to let the guests stay slightly longer in order to arrange medical assistance for the child. Having read this horrifying review my partner and I hardly slept all night. We locked our door from the inside as we were scared by Evlyn's behaviour and we were seriously questioning her mental health. 

The following day we left swiftly without staying for breakfast, and having spoken to locals in Callander about our disappointing stay they all warned us that we should always stay away from the Glengarry Guesthouse. It was no coincidence that the locals had this view, therefore  we would advise anyone considering staying at Glengarry Guesthouse to rethink their options.

Very strange behaviour from the owner Evlyn!

This was an excellent B&B. Very clean, with a nice, comfortable, quiet room and a great breakfast with lots of choice.  A perfect place to stay, enhanced by the friendly landlady's knowledge about what to do and see locally. It couldn't have been better - and helped showcase what a nice place Callander is.  Many thanks!

Happy stay in the Gateway to the Highlands

Had a fabulous stay at the Glengarry. Our room was very well equipped had everything you needed. It was absolutely spotless, light and airy. It was cleaned every day and fresh towels were added. Evelyn the host was very helpful, has a great knowledge of the whole of Scotland. She can point you in the right direction for some lovely days out and places to eat. I hope we get the opportunity to come back and stay again. This was my first trip to Scotland and will definitely not be the last. It truly is a beautiful country with breathtaking scenery. The Glengarry is a perfect base to set off in any direction for days out. Thank you Evelyn for making our stay so special.

THE place to stay in Callander.

A perfect B&B for a vacation in Scotland. Our host Evelyn made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. We stayed for two nights in thsi great guesthouse in Callander. Room, facilities, breakfast, everything was excellent. The Guest House is located in a very nice surrounding and not only for a pleasant walk or a scenic drive. A good choice of restaurants and inns were you can enjoy a good meal or a refreshing drink of your choice. We can highly recommend Glengarry Guest House for your stay.

One of the best B&B's this year!

We arrived at Glengarry Guest House in the late afternoon.  The house and surrounding yard was quite pleasant and located in a very nice neighborhood just off the main road thru town.  Evelyn, the owner, greeted us at the front door.  Evelyn was a wonderful hostess, our room was very clean, and breakfast was just awesome.  What more can I say?  My wife, son and myself enjoyed our one night stay in the 3-bed family room.  The room and bathroom were very clean with plenty of room to relax and place our suitcases.  We also had two nice lounge chairs in the room.  Evelyn was very friendly and engaging and offered us good advice for dinning as well as touring the local area. Need to say more about the breakfast - everything was great - eggs, bacon, waffles, fruit, cereal. I would highly recommend Glengarry Guest House for a night or two stay.
