Came in for a meal and a Prosecco. The meal was to perfection and the glass of Prosecco was the best I've ever tasted. Best day out in years, I'm coming back! I hadn't been through Calne in many years, the staff were warm and the welcome was great.

Major building works going on. 
No Parking. They say there is road parking. There’s none. 

Broken windows. Dirty rotting Window frames and sills. 

Very poor continental breakfast.  Rubbery cheese slices, sweaty processed ham. Stale croissants. No folks.  We had to ask for butter and something to pick up the cheese and ham. We did not want to use our fingers. 
Yes there was some fresh fruit. 
Also, yoghurt. However, there were just 2 spoonfuls of yoghurt and mushed up mixed berries in a. Glass jar. 

Bar closes when they feel like it.   On Sunday night, they told us that the bar was closing. It was only 19.45. 

No food available on Sunday Evening.  No food served on a Monday either. 

Bathroom very tired.   

To add insult to injury.  There was a  loud chiming from an outside building. This went off every 15 minutes. All Night ! Causing a very disturbing sleep. 

We were very disappointed with our stay. 
We have stayed here before on several occasions a few years ago.  I’m afraid to say…. It’s gone “down hill”

Very disappointing.   Major Building works going on. They start working at 08.00. Banging, drilling & Shouting.

Nice large room.  Small but vey clean bathroom, works well.  Towels worthy of 5-star hotels.
Very comfortable bed.  Just a continental breakfast, simple but ok.  Coffee could be better.  Great places nearby for full English breakfasts at reasonable prices.  
No parking on site, but very nice open-air parking just 3 minutes’ walk.  First 60 minutes free and I think free during the night. Car was safe, we had a lot of stuff in the car.  Possible to park in front of the hotel for loading/unloading.


A Very enjoyable stay in Calne to meet up with friends.

Very outdated, rooms terrible, bathroom terrible and the stairs went through the bath and shower no room to shower. Noise as windows are single glazed with very old wooden frames directly on main street at busiest junction

Terrible hotel

Was really  disappointed in this hotel, if you have ever tried to book a hotel in Calne then you know choice is minimal to say the least!
Stayed here whilst visiting family on the weekend of the Calne carnival. On arrival we were met by a lovely young lady who checked us into the hotel, gave us the key and direction to the room. 
The room was a massive disappointment! It was was shabby with cobwebs which was not great, overall appearance very poor!  Peeling wallpaper, secondary windows appeared to have been remove, frames still in situ, these really need to be reinstalled as front of building very noisy, cheap curtains let in the lights from outside hotel… On the plus side, room had a Comfortable bed, coffee and tea , toiletries and a free bottle of beers which was a nice touch.. as we were at front of building we were woken early with preparations for the carnival full sound check at just gone 9am.. 🤦‍♀️
The staff were absolutely brilliant, young but amazingly friendly, young lady at breakfast each day was lovely.
Breakfast was a very basic continental offering, 1st morning food was plagued by flies so did not partake to much tbh, 2nd morning we chose cereal and toast as I say very basic.., eggs would have been a nice touch.
Would I stay again, as not a lot of choice locally and as another guest recommended we would ask for a better room!

Only Mai hotel in Calne

Came for dinner to sample the new a-la-carte menu.
There are three starters, three mains and 3 puddings plus a cheese option. We had two of each between us and I have to say each one was delicious. One of us had Poached Salmon starter followed by Cod main and the other Duck starter and Pork main. Wish we could have tried the third option. Finished off with a pudding each and an Irish Coffee.

There is also a lounge menu which I can only assume is just as good.

Amazing new menu

The place has no parking, it's surrounded by double yellow lines, I had to park about 200 metres away.
There was a street lamp outside my room and my curtains didn't quite fit so I had shafts of light illuminating the room at night.
I asked what time the evening meal was and they said there wasn't one! I could get a pizza a couple of doors away though.
They don't do cooked breakfasts, I couldn't believe it. Breakfast was a miserly plate of processed ham and cheese with stale bread.
I was on a bed and breakfast tariff but the manager tried to charge me for coffee at breakfast. I refused and he backed down.
I get an evening meal the second night but it looked like it had been cooked by an amateur dishwasher wearing boxing gloves and was very unappetising.
Breakfast the next morning was the same half hearted affair.
Two nights was too much to bear, I was supposed to stay for a third night but went home instead.
I'm frankly disgusted, I stay in hotels all over the country, this is by far the worse I've ever been in.
If they can't sort themselves out the should stop taking bookings.

Never again.

The hotel is very well presented, my room was lovely and the decor was modern but cosy. I was staying for work and so I was pleased to find a comfy bed, a lovely clean room and tea and coffee with biscuits in the room. Overall the stay was positive however there were a couple of things which were not ideal. 
I had to wait quite a while for check in as the lady on the check in desk was also serving the bar and so she had to serve  queue of people before she could check me in as she appeared to be the only member of staff. I parked outside in the pick up point to ask where parking was and was advised either in a surrounding street or the public car park which I couldn't find after driving round the place a few times. I finally found a space a couple of streets away in a residential home car park (no signage to say  couldn't park there but not ideal). 
The room was lovely, however if the toilet was flushed it made an awful loud racket in the pipes which went on a couple of mins and I was woken in the night by what must have been the plumbing from the rooms next door.  
There is no cooked breakfast which I think is a basic thing for a hotel which incudes breakfast. I was down at 7:15 for a coffee (breakfast starts at 6) and was informed that the coffee was still being prepared so I checked out and went to Tesco for a cooked breakfast as I am not a croissant fan. I see on the website that guests are encouraged to go to a local bistro if you would like cooked breakfast but this is too late as I was working so needed to be away before then. 

Overall the place was lovely and I was pleased with the room but I probably would not sty again.

Lovely hotel and staff but some amenities missing

Family of 11 in 6 rooms for 2 nights for a family wedding.
I noticed some negative reviews but decided to give it a try.
We were all pleasantly surprised to find a lovely old building with large, charming rooms. All of the rooms were well equipped, comfortable, clean and warm with fluffy white towels.
A complimentary continental breakfast was provided which was plentiful  and well presented. We were all really impressed with the staff who were all professional and accommodating.
Sure it is an old building but it's quirkiness adds to the experience. We would definitely recommend the hotel

Wiltshire winter wedding

Stayed here 12/12/22 as down here for work. Room 202, lovely big room with TV, Kettle and tea/coffee with nice biscuits - nice and warm especially as weather has been freezing! Lovely bar and restaurant area down stairs with open log fires and really friendly staff. Didn't really have a great night sleep as room is on the front, and the double glazing looks like it's been taken out - really need this putting back, and quite bright at the front with xmas lights, curtains need to close a bit better to b;ock out the light. Bed really comfy, maybe the addition of an optional blanket for winter months would be great. The blue throw was plenty enough for me. The shower was soooo powerful and hot towel warmer kept my towels and clothes toasty for this morning - nice bathroom - couple of dinks in things (hot tap was damaged on the top) but overall lovely for what I needed and nice addition of toilettries. Lovely place, just needs a little bit of TLC. Will definitely stay again.
