Excellent bar service from Pip. Cheerful and efficient and certainly had excellent people skills. She was respectful and courteous.Only had coffee but it was the best I’d ever had. The pub itself was lovely. Would definitely go back again.

Visit to July

Fantastic service , the staff were great and looked after us very well.  We really enjoyed our stay and the room was exceptionally comfortable for the money we paid.  Especially as there was a big gig at the principality stadium and many places hike the prices up.  Coffee and tea facilities in the room is really good plus a lovely comfortable bed and a very clean room.  
The breakfast was delicious.  We also are burger and chips and had a couple of drinks which were good .  Overall I enjoyed my one night stay and would definitely go back .

Fantastic for a gig night at the stadium

We went as a family for the cabaret night. The entertainment provided by Chris was first rate, singing many well known songs from the shows.He has a great voice worthy of the West End, delivering the songs in a funny and entertaining way. The food provided was excellent and the service by the staff, headed by Ben, was first rate. Many thanks to Chris and the team for a fabulous night of entertainment, food and drink. Looking forward to the next event

Be aware! We walked into our room "Millennium" the bed was very large but had a huge dip in the middle. Sat on the edge of the bed and felt all the way down to the bed base. Going back to reception we voiced our concern. We were given another room up stairs "Bute" The mattress was fine.
Reading a review that dates back to December 2023 it also talks about the useby date of a mattress. This mattress has been disabled for a very long time.
People book with wanting a clean and comfortable nights sleep to tackle what ever the next day brings.
I just don't understand the integrity of the Maltsters Arms in allowing such a bed like this to remain.
The staff seemed frazzled, the young girl did a good job to solve the issue. 

 I would suggest if able to inspect your room before making payment.

Mattress! Well past useby date.

After a journey from Portishead on our first nights stop off we arrived at The Malsters rather tired and in need of food and a rest . Checked in by a lovely guy .. the doors sounded confusing with keys and turns etc and also the outside one the same when the pub is shut . So went to the room and oh my I was filled with an awful feeling .. mostly because it was worn out looking and a terrible smell from the bathroom .. nothing like the pictures on booking .com . 
Knowing we oils be back late for ub40 and the doors being difficult plus the room feeling unsafe we left and also missed the concert .. we drive 2 hours back home as staying felt so wrong .. I’m disappointed that pictures are not updated as in its day the place was possible much better . 
As mentioned the lovely guy who checked us in was beautiful.. Sunday night with no one around wasn’t a  good prospect .

I have stayed here several times and hope to return again.  Comfortable, welcoming, easy to reach from the city centre and feels like a real place, not a corporate airport lounge .  It is small, just a few rooms attached to the pub restaurant. Easy bus ride to Cardiff centre and railway station. Feels safe and friendly to woman travelling on my own. Again, not everywhere manages this. If you have time- and it isn't raining there is a pleasant stroll down past the cathedral to the river Taff. Food is good, breakfast freshly cooked. A real pleasure to stay here.  

Return visit.

Nice location and free parking. Nice size room, breakfast doesn’t start until after 7:30am so missed it 2nd day. It was odd but my room wasn’t cleaned or bed made on 2nd day but towels were changed? Didn’t eat in restaurant went out in the village

Good stay but room not cleaned

Nice hotel, with a bar and restaurant, great location, free parking, comfy beds, great shower. We’ve stayed twice now and will stay again in the future. Llandaff is a beautiful village, pop along to the cathedral, there are plenty of pubs and restaurants in the area

Very nice place to stay

Stated in the hotel with my partner. He loved having a bar next to his room. It was lovely to see dogs allowed in the pub, made us miss our little one. We have already booked to come back for a consent in Cardiff later in the year. The manager Greg was hilarious

Dog friendly and sliving

Friendly welcoming staff and FoH, could not fault our stay. Lovely big comfortable bed, powerful shower and my partner enjoyed having a bath too. Breakfast (all though not included) was excellent, well cooked and high quality, very nice coffee too and a very reasonable price.
