This was a nice little place to stay everything is central to where I needed to be and go too, the town centre is literally less than 10mins away and the train station is also.

I traveled down for the WWE Clash At The Castle Event at the principality stadium which was right opposite where I was staying, so I didn't have to travel to far.

The room was spacious and very clean, toilet and shower(nice and hot too) & was very clean aswell.

Overall enjoyed it here.

Good little place to stay near to everything, 

Excellent location 5-10 min walk from the centre, but far enough for a quiet stay. We booked a double bed with ensuite; the bed was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom was very spacious. Great value for money compared to other hotels and guesthouses in the surrounding area. TV had streaming options such as YouTube and Netflix. Only negatives were the bathroom window was stuck and would not open, and there was not quite enough toilet roll provided. Overall a very pleasant stay and would definitely return.

Very pleasant stay and value for money

I usually stay at the Anchorage but have been put in Austins for my last visits. Are usually stay three times a month. Both guest houses are clean and I find a good value for your money. The location is good for me except that they do not have a bicycle park nearby. I definitely recommend it for the eco-traveller meaning economy traveller   

Both properties 

It’s a budget guest house and does not pretend to be anything else. The room was basic but had the essentials, and was clean. The self service log in worked without problems, and the room was quiet. Perfectly acceptable for a short stay. But parking is a big issue, the nearest parking is a 10 min walk away and that car park is very expensive, which negates staying in a budget hotel! But a good choice if not reliant on car parking, as the location is very central and not far from the main train station.

Good choice for a budget stay

The location is great. A short walk to Cardiff Castle and the city center. 
The room was a little depressing. Shower drips, floors looked unswept, water stained ceiling tiles, desktop was dirty and there was no top sheet just heavy comforters. Also no parking. 
Access was simple and the view from the front is good for people watching. The room had all we needed to manage for 2 nights. The beds are comfy and I enjoyed the seating area in our room.

Cant beat the location.

My room with shared toilet was clean and had everything I needed.  The location was excellent, about a ten minute walk to the centre of town and the guesthouse is right on the river.   Unfortunately,  I could hear everything going on in the adjacent room and the rooms upstairs.   I wish they would OIL the doors too.  Doors squeaked very loudly and slammed shut.  I probably would not stay there again.

Good Location

While location was prime, near the castle, trains and on the river, it was difficult to get in touch with staff when I had an enquiry. The intercom was out of order, emails went un answered and the number to call to speak to someone rang out. I couldn’t even find a staff emmener on site. Also, when booking, it wasn’t made clear there wasn’t a private bathroom and that I would have to share with another guest, a fact I would have liked knowing about prior to booking so I could be prepared for that. 
Room was small but suitable for my stay, common areas like hallways always had a unpleasant smell to them, like an unclean smell.

Good location, lack of service/information provided

I cannot understand the positive reviews of this place.  It is more a hostel than a hotel.  Once inside, the narrow stairs are grubby and the room was incredibly small.  The shower/toilet room is tiny.  There was no staff around and no answer to repeated calls.  It took three days for them to respond to an email.  We elected not to stay and had to eat the cost.  Do not recommend.

Do not recommend!

We stayed for one night to see a concert and paid£253.00 for a twin room. The location was great for the stadium as it’s only a 5 minute walk away. However I think that was the best thing about this guesthouse. The room had a cracked sink in the bathroom, the tv did not work and one of the main lights didn’t work. It was noisy most of the night and I didn’t feel very safe as the front door is always unlocked and the management do not stay there so if you have an issue you have to call them. Finally outside there was 10 black bags of rubbish!!!

Needs improvement

If you’re here for the big game, it is a place  to sleep near the sports stadium and that’s about it.  But we’re not sports fans.  Just wanted to be near the train station and Castle.  Very small room with a tiny shower.  There are stubs in the shower wall where a shelf once was.  As it is, your shower materials are on the floor by your feet.  The sliding doors that enclose the shower make a very narrow opening for entry.  There’s a light above the sink.  It doesn’t work though.  Between 11 pm and 4 am you’ll hear the partygoers loudly pass by.  No toilet paper holder. It sits behind you on the tank top but it’s very cramped to reach it.  There was nowhere to lay  a suitcase.
