Superb hotel and restaurant in lovely location. Cosy real fire and lovely friendly staff. Food was top quality.
All reasonably priced and we had a very pleasant stay in this beautiful part of the country and all-in-all, it made a weekend away a great experience.

A truly lovely place to stay and to eat. Cannot fault any aspect and will be going back very soon

A huge thank you to the whole Plato’s team for making our celebratory lunch so special. Arina looked after us so well. The kitchen team excelled with delicious langoustines and fillet steak cooked to perfection. All topped off with a yummy crème brûlée. We can’t thank you enough!

A wonderful celebratory Lunch …….

The main problem was I relied on the description of Platos on Tripadvisor. It says Platos offers small plates.
But it turned out small plates are on offer only on Friday and Saturday.
On Tuesday the menu consists mainly of steaks on large plates.
Which was fine for those in our party who liked steaks. But a disaster for those that didn’t!
So partly my fault I should have looked at Platos own website.
But seems strange that a slightly more varied menu is not on offer on weekdays. Not everyone likes a steak.
On the plus side the steaks were delicious and the room was very comfortable.

Always enjoyed Platos in the past but recent stay was disappointing. 
Sunday dinner was choice between piazzas served after 6pm  or “carvery” served up to 5pm. Carvery was large amount of pub grub kept warm, and we served ourselves, and no dessert course.
Before eating dinner be prepared to pay your bill (?) regardless of whether you are resident or visitor.
Breakfast cooked fresh was good, but locked front door meant exiting side door then squeezing past wheelie bins?
Not the same place and lacks experienced oversight.

Mr and Mrs Disappointed

Great small hotel with comfortable rooms & lovely bar. We stayed for two nights over Easter & had a great time. Ate in the tapas restaurant one night which was great.
Nice owners & staff & delicious breakfasts.
We were lucky with the weather too!!

Great place to stay

We had an excellent one night stay at Plato's. The room was a good size, clean, well furnished, very comfortable bed with good facilities. The food in the restaurant was of a high standard both for dinner and breakfast. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and very professional about their work. We are booked for a celebration meal later in the year with a group of friends and are looking forward to another enjoyable stay and a wonderful evening.

The rooms are well decorated and comfortable. Had a great night sleep and food was amazing. We had dinner here along with breakfast. We brought our dog with us and felt very welcomed by all staff. Situated in a nice village

Highly recommend 

Comfortable bed. Really nice staff. Great breakfast. If you rent a room above a popular bar, you can't complain if people are having a good time. But the the occupant of room 7 overnight on 30 sept  you are the world's biggest a'hole. What gives you the right to constantly bang on walls and slam doors? Apart from that c0ckless freak, Kirby Lonsdale remains a delightful place. The brewery is as good as ever. Sad to see La Maison is shut, but we wish the owners a long and happy retirement.

Stay at Plato's, Kirkby Lonsdale 

Fantastic stay at this dog friendly Boutique Hotel, we got a warm welcome from all staff but a special shout out for Charlotte in the restaurant who looked after us really well. Rooms are immaculate with super comfortable beds. Lovely hearty breakfast and nice to meet new owner Tony in the morning . I would highly recommend and looking forward to our next trip there. Hidden Gem in Kirkby Lonsdale

We were visiting Kirkby for the first time to enjoy a nice weekend away. We dined here and the food was absolutely lovely - so much so that  we decided to stay for drinks and enjoy the cocktail menu. This is where the night took a turn. Two members of staff were sat at the bar, with what we later found out to be the new owner. They were very drunk and loud, the place wasn’t very busy so this made the atmosphere not great. Instead of relaxing with some cocktails and chatting we were faced with the constant interruption of the owner and her staff drunkenly shouting and swearing! A shame really as the cocktails were lovely but this did put us off and we swiftly moved on.
