Me and my partner came here for his birthday meal, we were recommended to come and eat here by the lady hosting us in her air b&b. 

The food was incredible, couldn’t fault any of it! Cooked to perfection! 
The service was also amazing, super friendly staff and very prompt! They came out with other suggestions too when it came to drinks which is great service. 

Only thing I wish is that they were able to add tips onto the bill, we never carry cash round with us and whenever we go for food we always ask them to add a tip on, but they couldn’t do that here at The Royal, so we weren’t able to tip!

Can’t fault it!

Lovely place, food drinks and staff top notch. We did have to ask for our drinks twice and my curry sauce was not bought out with meal but they didnt charge me for it.
4 of us had haddock and chips as it was good Friday, delucious. Top tip make sure you book. It waa really busy.

Fabulous find

Absolutely gorgeous place, food was fantastic!!!....... Service extremely friendly and courteous, decor beautiful, very spacious and inviting. Can not recommend this place highly enough, we will certainly be coming again if in the area

Wonderful! 

Dropped in for a lunchtime meal, chose from the a la carte menu.  The place itself had a nice aroma of coffee and the staff were efficient and polite.  The food was not up to a basic standard for several reasons.  I had haddock and chips.  The whole point of fish and chips is that it should be crisp and clean, or there's not much point to it.  I have no idea how the fish was cooked but the batter was soaked in grease, and pretty unpleasant, and I left most of it on the plate.  The fish inside was okay, but slightly overcooked.  My partner had trout, and I could see the look on her face as it arrived.  At £21 I asked if it was whole fish or fillet, but the waiter didn't know.  It came as a nouvelle cuisine sized fillet, small, a little overcooked, and no vegetables with the potato accompaniment, which was unimpressive.  First time I'd been to The Royal for some years, don't think I'll bother going back again.  Pity, the pub itself looked nice...

Great online service and home delivery

I stayed here as part of a group of 8 people  for 2 nights,  myself and my husband had a twin room which overlooked the garden. The rooms are lovely and very clean.  There is plenty of hanging space for clothes, and there is a little on suite bathroom, which had shower, toilet and basin. There are shampoo and shower gel dispenser in the shower so you don't need to take your own and they provided nice fluffy towels. The beds are very soft and you just sink into them. 

Our room overlooked the garden and it was quite hot weather when we visited, there is only one window that opens and behind that was the very large air conditioning unit for the building. This was a little noisy and being so warm we needed the window open. However the air conditioning did turn off at night but sprang back into action around 6am.

The food here is delicious, we had breakfast, and dinners and found all the food very tasty and reasonable priced. The staff are very friendly and are keen to make sure you have a great experience. 

The back garden is lovely here,  we really enjoyed sitting in the garden in the early evenings when we arrived back from our days out. Behind the garden is some steps and if you go up these you come to a canal path, which you can take a nice walk. 

Overall lovely hotel, lovely food, would recommend. 

Lovely Garden - pleasant stay.

Excellent service.  Great food and drink.  We both had the gammon and chips, nice addition was the fresh pineapple. The garden area is a real find, just beautiful but sheltered if the weather is inclement.

Excellent food and drink

What a find. Just driving past and decided to pop in and have a look. An unusual sunny day in the UK. Very warm welcome and offered us a table for lunch. We opted to sit in the beer garden a lovely sun trap out of the wind. Chilled music playing we had wine and shared a pizza. Lovelt walk up some stairs to a canal.

Definitely a place to stop

We arrived on the first day of the new menu. The food was fantastic! The service was swift and polite. My son felt a bit off, so didn't want to eat, but the lovely waitress brought us a to-go box. The quality of the food is well worth the price! The beer garden is fantastic as well. 

Will definitely return 

Went today and sampled the new menu. Absolutely fabulous. Can't recommend it highly enough. And charming g service as well from both members of staff we dealt with.  We will be back very soon to try more of this lovely menu! Well done again Team Royal!
