Good Sunday lunch with good service. I would return to this  restaurant. Roast beef and Yorkshires with a good vegetable selection Apple crumble and custard was excellent as was the Malbec wine.

Very good Sunday lunch.

Very clean and comfortable.Delicious food and friendly service.Great place to stay for getting around as just beside the station,good bus service and accessible to many places by car.Decor is lovely and in keeping with the 'Brief Encounter'era.(filmed at the station)

Wonderful authentic comfortable friendlydly hotel

Arriving unexpectedly and with no booking, we were given a welcome that could not be faulted, extremely friendly and welcoming. The room we were given was spot on with beautifully clean, fresh bedding and linen and with a good selection of tea, coffee and biscuits next to the kettle. Although we didn’t have a booking for the restaurant, the manager fitted us in on a busy Friday evening  and we  had a very pleasant meal. The decor of the restaurant, like the rest of the hotel, was impressive in an art deco style with fabulous lights and window and there was a bubbly vibe to the whole restaurant.

Although from the outside this hotel may not look particularly impressive, the welcome and quality of the interior and rooms belies that initial impression. All in all, thoroughly recommended.

Better than expected

We stayed in this fantastic hotel for a family birthday.May bank holiday 16 of us from 10 - 83.yrs. Glen an Maggie and all the staff went out of their way to make our celebration go perfectly.We can’t thank them enough.Rooms breakfast ,Dinner were fantastic plus we had music on two nights  in the bar.The roof terrace was another great surprise.Well Done to you all.

Excellent Family Celebration.

Great place for a drink. Friendly staff. Amazing food. Some of the best I've ever eaten for the price. The ribs were outstanding. Will definitely return in the future. The wife thanked the chefs for an outstanding meal. If you get the chance, pay this place a visit. It's not a fine dining type place but the food was top drawer. 

A great afternoon out

Just had a lovely 2 night stay for new year at this hotel. As a solo traveller (with a small dog) I do sometimes worry but there was nothing to worry about here. Spent new years eve in the junction bar and was made to feel welcome by staff and regulars alike, I had a great night. Breakfast lovely, staff lovely and room very comfortable. Will definitely return. Thank you 😊 

Great new year stay

not a great start to the evening as we entered the bar and were challenged by a member of staff demanding to know ' who are you ?  why are you here  '  we were part of an event that was organised upstairs - then the food was served ...... french onion soup - where were the parmesan crisps as advertised on the menu ? where was the accompanying toasts that were supposed to be served the parfait ?  The mash served with the brisket was missing the chives and the tenderstem broccoli - no offer of mustard or horseradish and when we asked for cranberry sauce it landed after we had finished the meal - this aside the staff worked incredibly hard to serve us in all in a very cramped dining room with the heating on full for the entire evening ...it is my opinion that the kitchen were overwhelmed by the numbers - as a former banqueting team leader i would have had one person to service each table , you bit off more than you could chew with your eyes on £££££££ and in this instance it showed in every respect of the evening

A friendly and welcoming hotel, they looked after me very well, and the food is lovely. I felt very well looked after as a solo female traveller, and the room was very comfortable and secure. I recommend it for solo travellers. 

A good place for a solo traveller

Excellent one night stay,lady on reception very helpful in finding another room to help with my wife,who had a bad knee,so we could access the lift,then on return from an afternoon out,again the lady running the dining room was great at moving us from the bar,rather noisy,to the restaurant,much quieter,where we both enjoyed a great meal, fantastic pork ribs,and the best burger I've had for many years.Lovely room ,very warm to.Great overnight stay.

Excellent stay.

First time staying at this hotel, & what an amazing experience. It was impossible to find fault. The welcome on reception, was superb, nothing was too much trouble, the check in was efficient & simple. Our room, was excellent, lovely bed, fantastic wet room, the room is obviously designed for disabled guests, and has every feature a disabled guest could need. Breakfast is amazing, freshly cooked to order, served hot, plenty of choice of fresh fruit, cereal, etc. If you decide to eat in the Junction bar, you had better be hungry, the menu has good choices, & initially seems a little pricey, however, the food is excellent & plenty of it, in my opinion, it is well worth the money. Glen & Maggie, the owners, have an excellent team, around them, & looks like they provide good leadership. It was a pleasure to spend our hard earned money, at this hotel, & we will undoubtedly be back soon. Well done to all
