Fantastic Gem!

We have stayed at many hotels in Guernsey( and can say this is our favourite. It has it all in abundance.
The staff are amazing and can’t do enough for you. We had to leave earlier that breakfast started, so they arranged a lovely little packed lunch for us all to take away.
The pub is warm and inviting and the food is lovely. We can’t wait to come back in the summer when the pool is open.

Amazing Gem

A very "Guernseyian" experience. Clean comfortable room, great bar and restaurant. Was visiting a local who recommended it and it was a good choice. Attentive service and easy online reservation process.
My only nit is that nobody was at the front desk to check us out when we left (very early in the morning) at the end of our stay.

Quaint Guernseyan place

From check in to check out, everything was perfect.
I was traveling alone, and even when eating alone in the Restaurant I felt very comfortable and well looked after.
All the staff were amazing, very friendly and helpful, especially when I was needing help with the local bus route.
The food was amazing, great choice.
My room was spacious and very comfortable, look forward to returning next year.

Visiting friends

Loved it, all of it. The hotel is set in a lovely old building, but has extremely modern rooms. The bathroom is better than in many 5***** hotels and comes with a barrier-free walk-in shower.  The restaurant has an old tavern feel to it and the food was delicious. Outside, there is a lovely beer garden and a bit hidden on the other side of the gravel parking lot, a lovely garden with a pool. The beach is just a 10 minute walk away. 

Wow, what an unexpected gem! 

Beautiful relaxing hotel with large rooms and very comfortable bed. The restaurant served delicious local produce and bar terrace was a lovely place to sit and enjoy a drink. The staff team were delightful and helpful. Good breakfast. Lovely garden with outdoor pool and towels provided.

We stayed here in late August 2022. On arrival, we were panicking a bit because the reception staff couldn't find details of our booking (made on booking.com) but luckily one of our party had printed off the details and within an hour they had called in support to make up a couple of rooms. Unfortunately they were in the noisier parts of the hotel (road and delivery noise) and not very close together. However, the staff were lovely, very friendly all of them and they made us very welcome, remembering what we liked to drink and always cheerful.  The Guernsey breakfast was good. There was a lot of choice for breakfast. We had a couple of evening meals here and they were of a high standard (better than 'pub grub' as someone has commented). In fact we noticed that the restaurant was often very busy with locals out for a meal. The 'shabby chic' decor in the communal areas is not to everyone's taste, but the rooms were simply decorated and very clean. To be honest, the staff made my stay exceptional and they are why I would come back again.

Lovely staff, good food and drink

We had a week's stay in this tucked away hotel. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Weather was good. Food was fine but nothing special I would describe it as typical pub grub. One thing that bugged us was that the floodlights on the front of the building did not go off until about 2am and the rooms only have pull down blinds. Also if there is a function on the rooms above are very noisy.

Lovely old building

Stayed a few nights at the beginning of September. Don't be mislead by the array of commendation stickers on the windows as you walk up to the entrance ; they are all way out of date - and this gradually becomes apparent  to any guest.
The bar area smells like a grubby pub , and the further I looked around the whole place the sloppy cleaning discipline shows up in cobwebs and dead flies in the rarely - cleaned corners  The strangely very gloomy dining area is a fashion and environment I particularly dislike ; "cosy and relaxing" getting too close to pre - electric  lighting !
The breakfast offering was poor for this price , ( with the exception of a decent fresh fruit salad bowl and reasonable coffee ) . Inferior grade bread , indifferent pastries , cheap jam , poor quality eggs.
Most half - decent B & B establishments would shame this place in this respect.
A first floor corridor leading to some rooms had a really unpleasant smell of stale food. Seems to me that the people who own and manage the business are cynically relying on past reputation.

Not to the expected standards

After choosing this hotel from reading the reviews and seeing the pictures on the website I was most disappointed when I arrived at my destination.  The hotel appeared to be run on a shoestring as there seemed to be very few staff there to greet a guest.  I found the place to be grubby and in need of a thorough deep clean.  One of the corridors had an overwhelming stench of stale cooking smells which I think was percolating from the kitchen below.  It was so bad it was enough to make one gag! The room I was allocated was high up in the eaves, which may sound quirky and quaint, but there was a narrow, twisting, treacherous staircase leading up to the room for starters.  Once installed in my room there was very little space to actually stand up freely without banging your head on either the rafters or the metal support beam that was situated in one's path!  In my opinion this room should NOT have been let it should have been left as a storage room for the hotel. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed properly and there were various unsightly stains on the carpet.  

When it came to breakfast there appeared to be a good choice. I ordered a poached egg which when it arrived was one single anaemic looking egg on a piece of cheap dry bread with no greenery or embellishment at all.  When the breakfast is £12 per head this for me is not acceptable.  I have had better quality food served in an independent cafe. The breakfast this establishment served was well below the mark and a disgrace.  I find it really hard to believe that the Fleur du Jardin is owned by the same people who run The Peninsular Hotel on Guernsey.  They charge a similar amount to stay there, but this hotel is bright, spotless, light and airy. In my opinion it is in another league altogether and deserves the business whereas the Fleur du Jardin doesn't.  Stop resting on your laurels and previous accolades. Look what's in front of your eyes now and for starters do something about giving the place a dam good clean and attention to detail is a must if you want people to actually stay at your establishment. 



Management Have Taken Their Eyes Off The Ball!!

The food here is absolutely amazing. The outside (and inside) space beautiful. The service is by far the best in guernsey. We went tonight and had the most amazing visit. We had walked from the farmhouse (were we are staying and quite frankly is not a patch on fleur) . Thank you everybody. We loved our night
