We were a pre booked group of 15.
 After purchasing drinks at the bar, we were told to go into the Conservatory area, where we were greeted by a dirty table. Food was pre-ordered - the waiter/waitress just deposited food in front of us, with no attempt at conversation, offers of condiments, or enquiries if any thing else was required. 
The food was average, but our plates were not cleared 45 minutes after service. No offer of dessert, coffee, etc
I was very disappointed, at the lack of customer service  - having visited before - this was a let down, l shan’t be returning.

Poor customer service, dirty tables, a real disappointment 

We stayed for 2 nights and it was faultless. The rooms were clean and comfy and had everything you need. The breakfast freshly cooked and excellent. The hospitality was exceptional and the owner bent over backwards to make us feel welcome and do all he could to accommodate us. I’ve stayed in a lot of pubs and hotels and I wouldn’t book anywhere else having stayed here now. Highly recommend. 

Exceptional stay, faultless hospitality 

We stayed with you from 6th -10th November in room 1 as a surprise break for my husband’s 65th birthday. The food we had at breakfast and the one dinner that we had was absolutely delicious. All the staff we came into contact with were lovely. 
We thought we would bring a few things to your attention in the way of constructive feedback.
Unfortunately the housekeeping left a lot to be desired. 
On arrival we noticed that we had one very small bottle of bath gel, which was really only enough for 1 person, your description describes toiletries being in the room.
We were disappointed to find that, on our return from a day out on the second day, no body had been in the bathroom at all. The towels were left where we put them, the sink had not been cleaned and we were not given any more bath gel. 
Also, there was nowhere to put anything in the bathroom, just one glass shelf to put all our own toiletries on, no towel rail by the sink and the bath towel rail was the radiator, which then made the bathroom cold.
The bed had just about been made up, the cushions were left on the floor and the extra blanket was just left in a pile on the floor. 
Leaving the binoculars in the room was a lovely idea but when I went to use them, they cannot have been dusted for months.
There was a huge amount of dust in the lamps and also in the radiators.
We were also disappointed in how cold the building was. The use of extension leads with electric heaters in the room, did not make it very comfortable, or homely. I did read in your response to a comment last January, that your boiler was broken. I’m assuming that should have been rectified by the time we stayed with you.
Although breakfast was lovely it was really cold sitting in the restaurant. The one small electric fan heater did not do much at all, we wondered why the heating wasn’t on.

Lovely place to stay but improvements to be made

Great rooms, super service and a brilliant stay. A group of us booked all the rooms and each one lovely. Room one was quirky with great amenities -  especially the bath! Nestled in a country lane, the pub and atmosphere is great. Attentive service and overall a warm and welcoming stay. Thank you The Hunters Rest Inn.

Great stay, super service, welcoming staff.

Lovely accommodation in a very quaint pub with plenty of parking overlooking lush countryside.  The evening meal was excellent and breakfast amazing. Friendly welcoming staff who dealt with a very busy pub superbly. 

Excellent stay

We visited on a Saturday for a family birthday which included 4 adults and 2 children under 4. 
We all had a very nice afternoon, the atmosphere was good and the staff attentive but still chilled out. The food was very good especially the Oggies! All in all we a very pleasant, unpretentious and relaxed afternoon lunch. We will definitely be back.

The Hunters Rest, Clutton.

On traveling back to Dorset from Bristol, we saw a small sign advertising the hunter rest inn, so quickly decided to stop for lunch, after a few turns and thinking where is this pub? You eventually you do come to it. Checking that they were a dog friendly pub. We had hunters chicken, chicken tikka masala and beef oggy, which we never heard of. All the meals were nice, if we had to be picky, the chips wasn't the best as there were the hard bits, but some people like this, it wasn't a problem and maybe give butter with the potatoes, again we could have asked for it ourselves. We also ordered desserts, cheese board which was a good selection of different cheeses and good value compared to other pubs. I had the Apple and blackberry crumble, which normally comes with custard, but as I don't like custard I asked for ice cream which was given and Very pleased with the good portion and again unlike other pubs you were given two  scoops of ice cream which was very nice. All round a very nice meal and surroundings in a good old fashioned pub and well maintained.  So if you do see the sign and think where is this pub, just keep following them you won't be disappointed 

Travelling home 

Had a birthday meal with family for our daughter’s 30th birthday. The service food and staff was excellent!  They went out of their way to help it be a surprise.
There was 28 of us & all the food came out at the same time all hot & very tasty would most definitely recommend.

Visited for Sunday lunch lovely quaint inn with stunning surroundings. My father is very
Picky about food but on this occasion absolutely loved it. The beef was excellent and plenty of it veg cooked to perfection as was everything else. Very good value and would definitely return again.

We booked on line for just one night as we were attending a funeral nearby.  We stayed Tuesday night on apparently the hottest day of the year!
We arrived around 7.30 pm and was greeted by a lovely lady and the bar manager.  Both friendly and smilely.   We were shown to a very pleasant and clean room with a balcony (added bonus) and view across the garden towards a lake and fields beyond.

We went down to dinner and decided to eat outside in the garden.  They had a good wine list and selected a bottle, which on a warm evening went down extremely well.  Husband had the house burger which he thought very good and I had the baked goats cheese salad.  Really tasty.

After dinner we made use of the balcony for a nightcap.  It was very relaxing and quiet.  

Last point the bed was firm and extremely comfortable. 
Lovely choice of breakfast in the morning.
 If we were in the area again would definitely stay again.
