Frome

Visited the Rose and Crown this evening for a family meal. The food and service was 1st class….fantastic !! Beautiful pub with such friendly staff, would highly recommend.
We will definitely return, it’s well worth the visit.


Brilliant food, excellent service with lovely staff.

Just perfect ! Everything you want and need and more from a guesthouse. Lovely rooms, clean, beautifully decorated and maintained. Tea/coffee, fresh water, hairdryer, complimentary shower gels, shampoo. The Location is perfect with a bus stop outside taking you directly to Bath! Plenty of parking onsite. The pub was most welcoming, a real heart of the village. Everyone was so friendly and the regular customers were a brilliant source of local knowledge! The food was amazing - freshly home cooked heaven on a plate! Nigel and Shaun were the perfect hosts, (and staff) couldn’t do enough for you, nothing was to much trouble! Brilliant company and along with their regulars it made for a fantastic evening. Already booked to return next year !!! 

The perfect place to submerge yourself into a wonderful few days away with all your home comforts 

This evening I met my friend for food at this pub. I ordered nachos the salsa tasted sharp and I could not eat it. Told staff who did not seem to be bothered. Won’t be using this pub again. Poor customer service and over priced. Staff were not exactly inviting when we walked in.

What a lovely surprise! A gorgeous old English pub, beautifully presented. Plenty of off street parking (no fee), a lovely beer garden with plenty of tables and seating and a bar that welcomes you to stay.
I stayed for 2 nights in a very well appointed room, with en suite, overlooking the garden. Modern decor with a salute to the past (see photos). No scrimping on the tea making facilities here, plenty of everything. Modern bathroom with shower, toiletries and fluffy towels.

I didn’t go any further than their dining room for dinner. Their menu had something for everyone and, in my humble opinion, it was well above your usual standard of pub meal. I ate there again the next night also!!!

Breakfast is extra, but once again, generous portions and more than enough to take for lunch.

I have to commend and thank all those who made my stay an extremely pleasant one ….. I’m sorry I had to leave.

Highly recommend and would love to stay there again.

Gorgeous and well appointed English pub

Start with the room. Clean and roomy. Smart TV was great-meant we could access Netflix…..just as well really, as the pub&restaurant were closed, as was the pub down the road. This was on a Monday. If you are looking for dinner on a Monday and you are staying here, you’ll need to drive . Think it’s all closed Tuesday as well. My wife & I like staying in pub accommodation as it means (usually) you can park up and enjoy a beer & bite without having to drive. Yo charge £110.00 just for the room is a little over the top. There’s plenty of accommodation for less in the surrounding area offering more. So why did I book here you may ask? Because I’ve stayed here, enjoyed the pub restaurant experience and thought we would do it again….word to the wise….check carefully when booking if the pub restaurant are open, otherwise you are staying in an overpriced (clean though) room in a very sleepy village….I likened it to a ghost town. Some might like that. I’ll learn from my mistake & read the small print

Nothing Open

Wow such a, lovely place to stay.. The, rooms were clean and comfortable the staff were so friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble will definitely be returning

Stayed one night in order to break a long drive - didn't realise when I booked that the pub is not actually open on a Monday or Tuesday, so unfortunately had to drive to find food: my own fault! The key box self check in worked perfectly well. Room was spacious and clean, with a very comfortable bed. Plenty of storage and more than sufficient tea, coffee, etc. Nice thick towels! Lots of parking available. A very thoughtful provision of a help yourself continental breakfast was available although I'm not sure if this is always the case, but I thought that was a lovely touch. My only gripe would be the amount of road noise from passing traffic - didn't disturb us overnight as we wear earplugs to sleep, but the road was very busy from about 7am. 

A lovely building, clean and comfortable 

We waited outside in the cold well after the pub was due to open at noon. People were walking passed the door inside  and clearly knew we were there well after opening time.

They opened the door to let a cleaner in and we asked if we could just wait inside the foyer as it was freezing.. 

We were told they were short of staff and they were extremely reluctant to let us inside because they were not ready even though this was only the foyer not the bar. 

By this time there were 12 people waiting in the cold. The member of staff suggested that we should have covered up more, we were not happy. The food is always great there, but this left a bad taste and spoiled the experience.

The fact that someone had not turned in for their shift should never have been transferred to us.

The staff were particularly attentive once we got in, but clearly they were hassled from the outset which spoiled our event.

We love the place and the food but felt a little let down.

Rose and crown hinton Charterhouse

What a wonderful find! We had a fabulous stay at the Rose and Crown in Hinton Charterhouse, near Bath (and we are very fussy people!) The room was impeccably clean, all the facilities were in perfect working order and the bed was extremely comfortable. The pub is located less than a 15 min drive away from Bath City Centre, yet far away enough from the hustle and bustle to enjoy the beautiful Somerset countryside. Thank you Shaun and the team for your excellent hospitality, we hope to stay at the Rose and Crown again soon!

Fantastic hosts, superb accommodation!

Have just returned from an overnight stay at the Rose&Crown. Can’t recommend this place enough, extremely clean, friendly staff and cosy interior. Plenty of parking available and bus stop located directly outside. The location is beautiful and a short distance from the city centre. Would definitely return, if visiting this area again.
