Lovely hotel right in the centre of town, spotlessly clean, brilliant breakfasts, OK they're refurbishing the rooms one by oneso it's pot luck, but all good, free parking at rear, wonderful friendly staff and great craic in the small bar, wonderfully friendly place to stay. 

Really good value

How could anyone write a poor review about this quiet, quaint hotel, set in the beautiful town of Castle Douglas, with independent shops and lovely nearby walks. The hotel deserves 5 stars just for their service, they could not do enough for us. The food is all home cooked, vegetarian also and very nice too. If all that is not enough, its dog friendly. I wish the hotel my best wishes in these very difficult times. Stay safe everyone.

Fabulous service

Old coach Inn with lots of character. Very friendly staff who made us and our wee dog welcome from the minute we arrived. Room was very clean with lovely hot water for a bath. The breakfast was well presented and delicious, so was the coffee. Due to restrictions on the listed building the windows are only single glazed which meant there was  road noise until midnight, then all was quiet for a good night sleep. We would return to this lovely old hotel for the warm welcome and the breakfast 😊

Family visit 

A warm welcome in a family run hotel with lovely people in a very handy setting for the small town and access to bike tracks and countryside.

There’s ample parking in a private area and lots of little shops and amenities in the same streeet.  The hotel was lovely and warm and everyone we met here was friendly and helpful.

Warm friendly stay

An inexpensive and very welcoming hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. No problem storing bikes safely. The room was spotlessly clean and the wifi worked flawlessly. A good place to stay when visiting the area.

A friendly place to stay

Castle Douglas is not a modern town and the Imperial Hotel is not a modern hotel.
The welcome and staff were great. The full Scottish breakfast is a delight and they even refilled our flask with their excellent coffee for our long journey back to Southampton.
Free WiFi worked well, although the rain shower seemed to affect the TV reception (but we only missed a bit of the news).
Location gives a very short walk down the main Street to all that the town has to offer, including the excellent Mr Pook's Kitchen next door, where you can get a very nice meal made with locally sourced ingredients (at a price).

Step back in time, but no complaints.

Room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was decent, staff polite and friendly.
Decor was a little outdated such as the 70s style bathrooms but the price reflects this. Good enough to get a decent night sleep and food was available if desired.
Would certainly stay again if in the area.

Decent Accommodation and a Good Prince

Friendly and helpful staff. Early check-in compared to most. Good breakfast to get you started. Accomodation above a lively pub, but not particularly bothered by any noise, which did not go on very late.

Good comfortable stay

Old fashioned hotel, similar to the town of Castle Douglas which is like market towns used to be with its interdependent shops & business, not a Costa in sight. The rooms are clean & spacious but somewhat dated. Owners & staff helpful and friendly .Big car-park to rear. Excellent value full Scottish breakfast! Very dog friendly
